ive been dealing with the same issue and found my valve cover had a hairline crack in between the to lower bolt holes at the cam tower,pulled it off and epoxied it nicly cleaned it up and that fixed my major oil issue, now i found oil cap dribbling into the same area but i can deal with that much.
yea they are, found out chip is set for 37 psi fp and i was running 43, set that back to 37, and did the lower maf hack(backed out screw and removed lower honey combs.

i bought a non turbo block for 450$ from a importer compared to 1500, pull pistons and rods, threw on turbo pistons on the removed rods, put it all back together with my turbo cams in and i never had a problem at all!!!

i would say thats a big yes, smells like raw unburned fuel is entering your exhaust, it may be one of your injectors is stuck open, or something of that sort.
i would just take the engine out, with all the time your gonna be spending trying to get the shaft out and then back in, you could have that motor out in 30 mins if you know how, balance shafts out and kit installed, in about 30 mins, and then put it all back together. thats the route id go.

on mine i pulled the chicklet fuse on the passenger kick panel harness and ive never had a problem it may be you headlight motor going out.. theres position sensor inside the motor and when it comes to a full stop it changes voltage and tells the motor to stop.

when my motor blew on my gst, i bought a 2.0 nt and used the crank and rods and 95 pistons.. had the setup for along time. very reliable,but of course like everyone else says, depending on the year crnak and rods different.
funny thing i just removed mine like a month ago.. the way you have to get it in is too basically make the diff point straight down and and lift it because the dif wont clear the right lower control arm/subframe mount, with the diff point ing downand lifting it into position, slide the output...
its def the oil sensor for the dummy light not the pressure gauge.. mine is currently on and steady but have great oil pressure. im just to lazy to go buy a new sensor.

that is the egr vacum temp switch.. when car gets to operating temp it opens up and then functions the egr.. i had that same switch on my 90 california car
