I had 2mm, yes 2 not .2, of end play. They only thing mine was doing was clutch engagement was all over the place. Sometimes my clutch would grab fine and other times it would slip very bad. Pulled the engine and there was almost nothing left to the thrust bearings.
I am going to remove mine probably tomorrow and measure the difference between the bolt and the hole in the mount. I will post some pics of what I find.
Is the 1/2 inch bolt needed for only one of the mounts, which one? I will have to check mine now. Its been a while since I put them in so can't remember if I did anything different with bolts but I do know I didn't drill anything.
I don't know anything about a buckingham meet, just the one in Tampa. I am going up this Saturday morning and Chris will be there to. Unfortunately our friend who started this thread passed away in a motorcycle accident leaving my house recently. We are all having a memorial thing for him, his...
There are two dowel pin on the top of the block, that's probably what it is stuck on. A few light taps on the side of the head with a rubber mallet should pop it loose.
That's why i like your idea on checking the radiator cap, if it isn't releaving the pressure when it is supposed to then your whole coolant system is going to have way to much pressure.
I really don't see it being the water pump gasket as the leak is coming down by the back right corner of the oil pan, the water pump is more up front. Could be anything right now and guessing is never the way to go but at least all of this is giving you ideas on what to check. Probably the least...
Knew someone that said the vibrations rattled a bolt loose and it went into the timing belt. I am sure he was just looking for something to blame and your kinda asking for it running without timing belt covers anyway.
Oil should be fine if you are just putting cams in and plan on starting it up soon after. The oil is thin and can run off, the lube stays in place. So if it will sit for a while I say use the lube.
There are plates out there for making custom manifolds, best way to do it might be to cut that flange off and weld the one you need on. I remember seeing one a while back just cant remember where i found it.
Wow I got these mounts for my car and didn't run into one issue with the install. The back mount is a bit tough to get at but other then that it was all easy.
I was just trying to think of a way to find oh where it was coming from while still keeping the car running as that's the only time the leak showed. Taking the top timing belt cover off might make it easier to see. Could always pull the ac to get a better look although it would kinda suck. If it...
Could head gasket or a freeze plug I guess, if you can wrap something around where the head meets the block aluminium foil you could see if the flow changes where it comes down, whatever you use make sure it won't melt. You said it only leaks after it was warmed up so if intake manifold so you...
If you have a telescoping mirror you might be able to see where it is coming from without taking anything off. I hope it isn't your freeze plug, those are a pain to replace with the engine in the car.UIM125, Mirror, Inspection, Telescoping, 1 1/4" Mirror
If it runs but sputters at 1/4 throttle then it is probably nothing major. You could look up how to test the TPS and bring an ohm meter with you. The one thing that worries me is the TBS is such an easy fix that if he knew what the problem was why wouldn't he just fix it to be able to sell a car...
Well i think the coil pack on the left controls 1&4 and the one on the right does 2&3 so I would think the coil pack on the right is bad. You can check it with a ohm meter.
Ya 14b and 16g take is about the same to install but he won't be able to go past 15psi without more mods and that isn't using either turbo to it's fullest. I see 14b's go for less then 16g's. Agree that t-25 sucks, maybe nice for a gocart.
make sure your throttle cable has a little slack in it at the peddle as in you have to push the peddle in a bit before it grabs the ball on the cable. Also make sure the throttle cable isn't sticking, while it is idling high manually turn the throttle body plate closed and see if that changes...
You have a lot of options but not a lot of good ones. The 14b is the stock 1g turbo which is probably what he meant. The 14b is probably your best bet if you want a little more power but don't want to spend a bunch of money on other mods. Even you did a 16g there would be a lot more you would...
I got the complete SRS exhaust that come with the downpipe that eliminates the cat. The downpipe went from 2.5" to 3" so it bolted right up. Was very impressed with it and everything lined up perfect. Go catless if you can.
When you are doing the timing belt here are a few things to go after while in there. All of the belts will need to come off so if they are in questionable condition replace them.
If you have missing or broken timing belt covers get new ones.
It would be a good idea to check camshaft seals and...
I replaced all 4 mounts with the avid racing mounts, wasn't sure about spending that much on mounts at first but glad I did now. If are willing to spend the money that's what I would recommend.
4g63 freeze plug location - YouTubeMade a video, thought it would be easier, now this is a block off a 99' so not sure if yours will be exactly the same but should be very close at least.
I think it will help with some idle problems by estimating what the idle should be off the TBS instead of the idle switch, or something like that but doesn't do anything for a bad ISC motor. A bad ISC motor could passably damage your ECU.
1) The oil return line for the turbo should be a hard pipe and unless it is cracked new seals should fix the leak. If you would like a new return line I would recommend extremepsi.com.SS return line - EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts2) The transmission will likely...
I can't think of anything specific you should check but you could start disconnecting wire connectors at sensors and anything else you can find to try and eliminate things one by one. Not the best way to do it but it has worked for me in the past.
I had the same problem with mine a while back, a new ISC motor fixed it.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/386663-dsm-isc-motor-testing-replacement.html
Well I am interested, but not 100% if I can make it. Will be starting my build soon and shouldn't take that long to complete but who knows what will happen. If it isn't done by then maybe Matt will give me a ride.
Well I found the problem. It ended up being the previous owner installed a new power antenna and messed up the wiring. Disconnected the wires and all works as it should. Of coarse in my attempt to find it I worked from front to back so a lot more got taken apart then needed. Thanks for getting...
Everything went back where it was and didn't think it was the alarm as it did it before the alarm was removed but I gues it could have been installed wrong, looked pro installed. If you think it is likely that could be the cause I will check into it later.
If I start my car then turn it off and remove the key it will continue to run untill the 10a room lamp fuse is pulled. The 10a fuse is located in the engine bay fuse box in the I.o.d. with the 10a radio fuse. What is odd is the slot for the room lamp fuse always has power to one side with the...
It sounds like a problem with the transfer case, if it was my problem that's where I would look. Get it jacked up, look at the transfer case from the under side and check for leaks. Pull back the rubber boots too looking for any fluids.
Not sure exactly what bolt you are referring to. If it is the one where the front sway bar connects to the dampener fork then there is a nut behind the bolt to back it up. 14mm wrench i think it is.
Just installed the three piece OBX pulley kit and wanted to do a quick review and probably answer some questions. The pulleys seem to be decent quality and weigh a lot less then the stock ones. They are the same diameter as the stock pulleys. As far as looks go they are very clean and stand out...
