best way to figure out everything is put coolant in till stops taking it and make sure you don't see it leaking out anywhere. Then start it up with the heat of full blast and let it run for a bit. Check the level again and watch the temp gauge. If it over heats with a good coolant level then...
If you have no bent valves but also have no compression it sounds like your piston rings are either not staggered right or they might be blown. The knocking might be a rod bearing, use a mechanics stethoscope and figure out if the knocking is from the top or bottom if you get it running again...
I would keep it and build it up. Talons are really easy to build up with bolt on parts. Good advice for the future though is never buy a dsm that the bov isnt recirculated.. means someone has been doing some bad mods on it.
Also have you pulled the fuel rail and checked to make sure your injectors didn't clog up? Sounds simple but it's happened to 2 people i know and mine. Try clearing it out with carb cleaner and replacing your fuel filter.
I prefer the bpr-7es plugs, but only if your going to be running high boost really. There's a couple discussion forums about plugs, it really comes down to how you tune and drive your car.

i would also pull the injectors out and see if they are clogging. My car did the same thing and it was because i had rust in my fuel lines and it was clogging everything up. Try spraying out the injectors and fuel rail with carb cleaner and putting a new fuel filter on.

It's really not that hard to drop a new motor in. Just takes time and patients. I've had my motor out 3 times already, once you get the hang of it it's not really hard just annoying.
Don't use an ebay timing belt!!!! They are really bad, had the teeth completely shave off on mine. Didn't know the previous owner had used it until it was too late. I would go with the mach V but i also agree that you should make sure you get a good oil pump. Did a total rebuild by ordering...
Do you have an after market radio? I had this happen on my car once and it was because the dimmer wire was grounding out on some other wires. This cause my dash/running lights to keep going out and many blown fuses.
Also, one time when my car wouldn't start it was because my coolant temp sensor came undone. It's on of the ones underneath the thermostat housing. Just something else to check.
I would start by pulling your plug wires out and testing for spark to make sure you are getting spark. Might have soaked your plugs, maybe try putting some new plugs in, not that expensive. Hope this helps.
