in gonna be moving back to the Saginaw area soon, im debating dragging my talon up there with me if not ill be picking another dsm up asap. im always down for a dsm meet
dose sound like its in the top. go get a stethoscope (less than $5 at harbor freight) and listen over the top of each cylinder and see if you can narrow down where its coming from. mine did something similar not that long ago. i got some gas in the oil and it thinned out ended up having a nasty...
+1 on the MOA, BG has se if the best products I've ever used. I've heard of using ATF but I've heard several different ways of doing it. Is the car new to you?
i have to agree with everyone else on this one, get a wide band first, then lookin in to getting DSMlink. its worth every penny. your probably already at the limit of the SAFC. Once you can see whats going on with all that boost your pushing start looking in to a clutch. You can run a 20G on...
So I got these cams off of a guy on Craigslist. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to research them first. He told me they are Kelford 264's which i know they are not. Before I call the guy up and give him a piece of my mind, I would like to know exactly what I have. Thanks in advance!
Obviously you won't be able to rev it like the 2.0. I'm not 100% sure but think the internals may be made diffrent and have a bight compression ratio so it won't handle as much boost. Hose would be my two biggest concerns
Lol that happens a lot on here, everyone has their ways. However it's nice hearing so many diffrent opinions really helps you weigh your options. You won't be disappointed with your choice.
Well if your looking for more power I would just get link. I think you would get better results out of fine tuning what you already have over bolting on a slightly bigger turbo. Honestly you'll spend a little more going with link, but you won't regret it. When I got my GST I was drivin it with...
Why not scrap it all and throw in a flux capacitor? Lol. Interesting idea but even if you did get it to work think of how much weight you would be adding to the car.
Getting V3 lite would be worth it. it's all that 99% of people on here need. The ECM website has a comparison between V3 and V3 lite. I forget all the exact numbers but it helped me make my decision. It would be was smarter to buy link even if you don't have major mods planed. If your intrested...
As stated before do all the maintenance on it and make sure everything is in good order. If you don't want to really mod it I would get DSMlink. I'm sure tuning what you already have will make a nice incrase.
Axles are really easy (as long as they are not stuck in the hub assembly that is). All you need to do is take the axle nut and cotter pin off. The take the strut off the lower control arm, take the lower control arm off of the chassis. Drain the tranny fluid. pull the wheel out and push the...
You can get the bolts out of the bearing because the will hit the axle. Even if you could it wouldn't help the situation. The axle is froze in the bearing and the knuckle is caught in the middle. Last time I had to deal with this I put it on a 42 ton press and all I could do is bend the knuckle.
Yes and no. All will bolt in but not all of them have the spot for the ABS sensor. You can also us the knuckles off of some sebrings and stratus's. I believe bot the Sebring and stratus will have the ABS mount as well as any other 4G63 car but not all GS's will.
I'm thinking the wire from the fuse box to the ALT has a short in it. My teacher suggested that I disconnect the ALT completely and see if it'll still blow the fuse. I know it's something simple but it's kicking my ass. Looking a the schematics on alldata and the only common point between the...
I'm normally not bad a trouble shooting electrical, but this is getting frustrating. They are both fairly simple circuits, yet I can't find the issue. The thing that's really messing with me is blowing the ALT fuse. Why would I be pushing current towards the ALT? I'm starting to think that my...
So I recently put a motor in my 98 GST. Everything went fine until I tried to start it yesterday. All the lights, fuel pump, ect come on but the starter will not roll over. I've checked and double checked all my connections and everything looks right. Also every time I hook the battery up the...
I just went through this, it is indeed a blown head gasket. A leak down test will confirm it for sure. I you don't have access to a leak down tester do a block test. You can rent the tester from autozone for like $8 I think. You can also let the car idle withthe radiator cap off and watch for...
Your on the right track. First Look into the heat wrap and heat shield, that should dramatically reduce your under hood temps. Like stated above cheap slim fans don't flow enough air especially if you have to pull the air through a FMIC, ac condensor ect before it gets to the radiator. A blown...
There are a few options buy IMO doing a 4g63 swap out of another DSM is not worth the time or money. From what I've read the EVO motor bolts damn near straight in but requires alot of wiring. You can boost the 420a, or find a 2.4 (from a stratus I believe) and swap that in. You can even use the...
the ad said clean carfax make him show it to you. also check the body lines. look at the fenders under the hood, the door jams, and under the hatch for over spray or bolts that dont look original. thats normally some key signs of body work
when you drive it have some one follow you and watch for any smoke. look around under the hood for excessive oil leaks or areas that seem "too clean". also check the tires to see if they are wearing properly. if he didnt put a camber kit on it the tires will wear on the inside but look ok at a...
ok wiring the sensors seem pretty easy. when i was looking at the schematic that came with the ms it had a constant 12v and an ignition 12v. i was gonna jump those of the radio wires, is that acceptable or will it create problems with blowing fuses?
id go with link. a new SAFC goes for $300ish depending on where you look. V3 lite is $375 + the EPROM. for the extra money you can see everything the car is doing at all time and you dont have to cut the wire harness.
That's a very helpful link, but its not my problem. I'll look in to it tonight but its not the symptoms my car has. It kinda sounds like a cammed V8. Gonna knock out a compression/leak down test tonight but I'm sure it'll come back good. Also gonna throw some new plugs in it and see if that...
So I spent all night searching and couldn't find a straight answer, i recently pulled the motor out of my GST replaced the head gasket, timing belt, water pump, arp head studs and deleted the EGR. Now it'll fire right up run ok for about 15-30 seconds and start to miss really bad. If I give it a...
im in the same boat man. just did a head gasket and when i put it back it it idles like that now. did you delete the EGR? i havent drove mine yet but at 1100rpm it starts to clear up but i can still hear a miss.
tell your old man to grow some and get to it! honesty its not too different than any other DOHC 4 cylinder than ive done. Spend a few extra bucks and delete the balance shaft. also make sure you change the water pump tensioner pulley and tensioner. while you have the motor apart that far it...
