I would also recommend to get new rings they are not very expensive at all. If you reuse them though I would definitley clean them.

Defintily do a boost leak test, It sounds like you probably have a huge leak.

Yes it is possible, Overheating it could also cause your head to warp.

I would start by checking for boost leaks also.

The cheapest way would probably be to buy a junkyard engine. But as people have said above you are taking a huge chance when you buy an old tired engine.

I think the only cons are that they add weight to your rotating assembly and if the Balance shaft belt breaks it often takes the timing belt out with it. It might just be a really big boost leak that is keeping your car from going over 2500rpm.

Is your BOV recirculated? that could cause your rpms to lower when shifting.For your steering whell being tilted I think they would fix that during a Front end alignment usually but im not to sure how to fix it myself.
