I've been driving mine quite a bit lately. I got a couple issues I need to work out, but it pulls good with the 20g at 22psi. Once I get a wideband I'll switch to e85 and more boost.
The 3g MAF (482) flows very close to the Evo8 and is generally cheaper.I prefer the 3g/Evo over the 2g due to the round shape of the MAF, fits in the stock 1g intake hose.
The cheapest and easiest to weld would be mild steel. You could get away with a stock 2g tb elbow. You could find a used j pipe for pretty cheap. The last ETS kit I bought in '06 used mild steel fwiw.
I had to step away from my car a few times and take a break or else I would have sold it.I decided to take the car down a month ago and throw my stash of parts on it. 20g, 1050's, afpr and a used 2600 a friend back in Orlando gave me. Put the clutch in and it wouldn't disengage. I put a...
I had good results with Dap contact cement. Brush it on the metal area and let it dry before trying to work the vinyl back on. Then, use a heat gun and work it back on the metal. You may have to use some super glue on the edges or some 3m VHB tape. A heat gun is a must to get decent results...
I stopped by LKQ off of Whitehorse rd., there's a 91 AWD there. Just about everything is still there except the turbo.I snagged a 255hp pump just laying in the floorboard. It works too:hellyeah:
I wouldn't trust the stock gauge. I've seen temps in the 240s from a logger and the gauge never moved from the middle.Get an actual gauge or some way to log it, either a logger or link.
Stock, they run about 212 before the fan kicks on.
Road Race Engineering's 2G 16-G Turbo Install Kits and PartsMost of this will apply to the 20g with the exception of the Jpipe, which you won't need. You may need some other type of 90* elbow coming off the turbo towards your lower intercooler pipe though. Also, I may have missed it, but...
I'm in the Anderson area, moved here a few years ago from Orlando and got back into a DSM a few months ago. I've been on hiatus since '08, but have been around DSMs since '01.Currently have my 1g in my garage for paint and mods.
I started out with a FWD back in '99. I owned it for a couple years, ended up selling it and moving on to an AWD. And I never looked back.I don't find them more unreliable than a FWD either.
