92 Gsx. 2g maf, hard intake, 550cc injectors, 3in downpipe and exhaust. Stock 14b turbo, stock intercooler and plumbing. No way of logging or tuning. Can i safely run 20psi of boost? I know a stock system can only suppoty 16psi, but how much extra does the 550cc injectors afford me?
Ok that sounds good. Everything i was seeing was 200+. Im mainly wanting to watch idc's so i can see what kind of boost pressure i can get away with. On street i keep it at 15psi. Im hoping with the 550's i can get 20pai at track without race fuel.
Ok, Im working with a 92 gsx. Current mods are a 3in turbo back exhaust, a mbc, a 2g maf and hard intake, and rc 550cc injectors. Stock 14b turbo and stock smic with cloth hoses. Im looking into getting a datalogger so i can start adjusting boost, but have no idea what kind to look for. So i...
Yeah man ill be grabbing them. I know on a stock setup 16psi is cutoff. So im running 12-15. Just wanna know if i cab safely run 15-17. Dsmlink is in future plans. Dont like safc and such.
Im running a 92 gsx. Current mods are mbc, 3in downpipe, test pipe, and exhaust, and a 2g maf and hard pipe. Im about to add in rc 550 injectors. I do not have any way to tune yet. How much boost can be ran on this setup?Using stock 14b turbo
Just re-routed my mbc into the cabin yesterday. Its a turboxs. Since then once i start getting close to boost it "hisses" and only gets louder as i go into boost. My psi level looks fine though its not overboosting. Is this sou d normal?
Well im running a 2g maf with stock injectors, no tune, no safc or anything. While i dont have a wideband i havent experianced any knock, fuel cut, and car doesnt run any hotter.
The reason im askin aboit this line is because its already in the cab real close to where my gauge will be. Saves me from having to run another line through the firewall
Ok, i hear that you are supposed to tap into the bov line for boost gauge source. I just re-routed my mbc into the cabin. Can i use that source for gauge? (Pre mbc of course). Woukd be much simpler since i alreafy have a hose near where i want my gauge.

Yeah tune is not needed for it. It registers the extra air coming in. If anything youd actually run a hair or two richer. I noticed a slight gain (esp in response) with nothing but that, hard intake, and 3in exhaust. Very well worth it.
Ive never heard anyone say you have to tune for 2g maf. Ive been running one with a hard intake pipe for a while now with no probs. Ive heard that 1g maf causes alot of headaches too
A wheel with a wider offset is same us running a wheel spacer... just built onto wheel. Stress level is the same. I would recomwnd finding a set that bolt on though. Much safer than just a small disc spacer.
My 92 gsx seems to have a misfire at idle. Just bought the car. Ive replaced plugs, iac valve. Retuned tps, and set base timing yo 5deg btdc. Car runs fine once you start driving but idles really rough. Any ideas? Also car will seem to stutter or hesitate if you hit throttle while at idle
Yeah weve tried the vice grips. Hell we had one guy try pulling iy with v.grips while i used a punch (at a angle) to try to knock it out the other sideV i c t o r y! !!!!For anyone else who encounters this problem my fix was hitting the bolt every way i could. Most effextive was trying to...
Yeah well thats what we were trying last night a little after midnight. Prob, exhaust bolts that have been on since july of 1991. Might try to drill and extract it.... idk gonna get after it again tonight after work
Getting the nut off alone was a chore. It was rounded off. The alt will move freely up and down. Weve used almost a full can of pb blaster on this bolt. Cabt hit it straight, exhaust, but ive tapped at the back of it with a punch and a hammer at a angle several times. Very frustrating. Been...
I'm trying to change the alternator in my 1992 eclipse gsx. The bottom bolt seems to be seized and unwilling to come out. Everything else has been removed. Any help or advice.would be greatly appreciated
Aem doesnt make one for the spyder 4g64. Only the 420a.... and the 420a doesny have any sensors that plug into the intake tube. Ive had mine for years.
It sounds like the car is running fine in open loop. But once it heats up and goes into closed loop it detects misfire. Sounds like a bad sensor somewhere. Or low compression. Our ecu's will cut fuel to the cylinder it believes is experiencing problems.Completely scratch what i just said. I...
First try driving it. When it starts to cut out, cut the key off then back on (clutch in) and when you let clutch out car should fire back up. See if prob temp goes away. If so then its your ecu cutting fuel to cyl 1. It may be a bad injector clip. Part number 28419a line code BWD at oreilly...
Really? I would have thought the smaller turbo would have spooled faster. Reason I ask is that my 14b is starting to blow-by oil. Trying to decide to rebuild it or to get this 16g from a friend of mine.
On a stock 6bolt motor with stock inj and all at 10psi, how much more hp should a super/evo3 turbo make over a 14b. My 14b has been ported but disregard that unless you havr info on it.
On my 6bolt swapped 2g, my 14b is starting to give out. From what ive reaearched all i need to run a 16g is a evo9 fuel pump. Is this true? I dont want to do any tuning or bigger injectors yet.
it has piping on it now, but it's horrible. A mixture of mostly stock piping rearanged... Its a boost leak waiting to happen. And yes, it's gonna be long route
I'm not sure what brand but it is massive. I want 2.5 inch piping but the ic is 3, so I'm going to have to adapt tooIt's gonna be long route I believe. Goes in on one side exits on other
Ok so I've been thinking on possible swaps for my 99 oz gs. I thought about doing a stratus/420a hybrid, might do that. Already crossed out a evo swap. Well now I'm thinking about swapping a 6g72 out of a 00 3g eclipse gt. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any info on it?
Ok, I do have access to 93oct and thats what I run now. The 14b has been ported so maybe that will help a bit. And I may upgrade later on. 2 questions. 1. What modification is needed to run e85. 2. Would you suggest a 3 inch or 2.5 inch downpipe?
I'm not in a rush to get it all done. So I'm not worried about trying to get cash together. I'm working on suspension atm, just trying to get a gameplan down for the engine build.
My car did the same thing when I got it. Changed the spark plugs and she fired right up. Funny thing was is that we checked to see if they were sparking, they were. I guess it just wasn't strong enough. You could also try spraying just a touch of starting fluid into the engine. If it fires for a...
That doesn't sound good at all man. From the way it sounded and the fact that itwas puffing a little smoke out the intake, I'd have to guess that you've jumped timing. Line up your #1 cyl and check the timing. Also wouldn't hurt to do a compression check. You can rent the tool from O'reilly Auto...
Ok, that makes sense. So I'm guessing a 16g is what I'd need for 300whp. I saw someone earlier mention a big 16g. Out of curiousity what performance can be achieved out of a 14b? Without cams, internals, and headwork that is?
Not trying to benchrace. Just trying to get my build planed out and would like some advice from people who have already done it or more with personal experiance. Aso why would you say drop the dnp?
I figured I'd need a 190lph fuel pump. Trying to avoid a different turbo and injectors for simpler and more reliable tuning. And a wideband is a given, just didn't list it because technically it's not needed, you're simply stupid if you don't get one, but you can pull it off without.
