Pulled the mfi relays for testing. I applied power to the coils( pins 2 &4) and checked continuity between pins 1 and 3. When powered both relays clicked on and continuity was present. So they're good unless I'm doing something wrong.
One of the mfi relay clicks while switching the key from on to off and off to on. Is that normal? Only one of them does it. Also I have a 97 auto spyder gst...can I change the ecu to my 98 manual gsx to test it?
Pulled the ecu...absolutely no smell what so ever. Physically looks good to me but I'll admit I'm not exactly sure what to look for other then the complete obvious. Maybe you can spot something I'm not aware of.
Also, i want to add that the engine cranks easily i have a new battery hooked up to a crank charger so it wont get depleted and the rpm guage does not move at all as the engine cranks over. Thanks for everyones help.
Hey guys im sorry for not being able to tend to this sooner i've just been swapped with work these past couple of months. yesterday i replaced the cps with a brand new one and it still wont start. The sensor was intact and did not appear to be damaged at all. i replaced it anyway same...
Hey guys,Im dealing with a no start after a timing belt and water pump change on a 98 gsx.
The car has been sitting for about six months before i decided to finally tackle the job.
I went to turn the car on and it just cranks over. I have done timing jobs on my spyder and other friends dsms...
You could be wring if your going by the stock water temp guage. On my spyder the needle would sit in the middle *normal any ware from 190-215 degrees. That's a huge difference and it would drag ass till I fixed that. Anyway, you need to find out what's over heater, water temp or ait..
That's normal. Mine sits the same at idle. As long as it's moving then you should be fine. If your actually worried about it you need to install a separate guage to take readings accurately. I think your ok tho.
I got an oem tensioner to use instead of the gates China one. Mines was faulty straight from the box. I contacted jnz with regards to it and they didn't even bother getting back to me. I'm not the only one has experience with faulty gates tensioners from the new as well. Some research will...
Brake performance is not dictated by the amount of power your car makes. Weight and type of use you vehicle will see is what you need to take into account when upgrading your brakes
Hey I have basically the same setup. Eibach pro springs with 1.3-1.5 drop with Monroe sensatrac shocks. I don't have any problems with wear or camber. Camber adjustmentisn't even needed in the front. The back is noticiable but not a problem for me at all. Eventually, I'll correct it tho.
It's actually extremely rare to see dsms in the valley. I mostly spot spot beat up 420a 2gs. I wish I could meet a couple dsmers around here. But it's mostly hondas, Acura and cameros that are most popular.
I think it depends on what your doing with the car. If your running your high hp car down the track for a couple seconds a half rad will be fine. If your running on a road corse you'll need extra fluid capacity.
I have a prosport jdm series for boost. It's pretty short. It's an option, but even tho mine is working so far I wouldn't recommend it. I remember how disappointed I felt the first time I held it after spending $100 +. It's so cheaply made its not funny. I'm waiting for it to crap out and I'll...
That looks way off. Your suppose to still be able to slide the pin in and out after a half hour. What brand tensioner is this and post a pic of the tensioner pulley.
Don't worry if the monitors aren't set. 2g are except from monitors ready test. Just have him run it an as long as everything else is ok you'll pass. You don't need the 99 ecu. You'll need the cat tho.
No I didn't turn it around, I can't get it out with out compressing it and it won't turn in place. I'm wondering if the tensioner puts out too much tension if it could potentially cause harm. I've done a couple timing jobs but never ran into this. I also put the two pin holes downwards like...
Too much tension on the belt pushes the tensioner shaft do ward. It would have bent the pin down into the tensioner. Its bent upward meaning the tensioner is pushing out to much tension. I guess I just want someone to verify the tensioner is still good to use
The issue is there's so much pressure it bent the provided pin. To use it I will need to compress the tensioner and find something stronger then the pin to keep it in place. Also the shaft is at an angle. I think it from me pulling on the pin. I didn't notice it this way prior to install. I...
Hey guys, I'm doing a timing belt on my 98 gsx. I went with the jnz tuning kit which includes the water pump, timing and balance belts along with the tensioners and pulleys. Install was going fine in till it came time to pull the pin on the timing belt tensioner. I couldn't pull it out to save...
The tensioner tool is useful if you had to reuse the tensioner. It could be slowly compressed on a vice grip as well. If your replacing the timing belt then you should be replacing the tensioner too, at which point the tool is not needed at all. You just have to remove it from the block. If...
So I have my v8 killer hoodie, I plan getting a dsm/ awd shirts this week. What I was wondering was if there's any nice dsm related key chains. I would hop on that right away.
I have a tungsten carbon/ carbon fiber patter wedding ring. They will shatter if hit hard enough. One time I took my road bike out for some excersice and hit a patch of sand on the road. I took a hit going 20-25 mph. I was able to put my hands in the way to escape injury but my ring wasn't so...
Guys! I'm sure when he said stock block and head he was referring to the cores. Unlike us many platforms out there have the option to go with aftermarket cores. There's no way he's putting that power down with stock cams, rods, porting etc... If I'm wrong tho I'll shoot my self in the foot LOL.
Well I don't know about you guys, but I put my dsm in the same category as my 70 nova, in this day and age they're not meant to be a daily. I put about 4000 miles in my gsx last year, 1000 on my gst spyder and 1500 on my 70 nova. For as old as these cars I'm suprised they're still turning heads...
