Ya there are better ways to go about quieting it down. A resonator for one, and a different muffler. Check out the dynomaxVT muffler or something else like it. The dynomax works just like a baffled muffler at idle and cruse, but when you step on it a valve opens and it becomes a straight through...
So i swapped out the Megan muffler for a dynomaxVT muffler. Quieted it down a bit, at least got rid of a bit of the drone.Car will be out in a few weeks after my exams are finished and i get my new brakes installed.
While you are working with the tcase and driveshaft I think it would be worth your time to change the yolk (since its rusty) as well as replace the input and output seals on the tcase. Just did mine and wish i would have done it all a long time ago. pesky leaks!
Interested in feedback on performance. Also what brand of rotors did you get? Im having trouble deciding which type to get.*referring to the OP's rotors
I can't tell in the original picture but is there any wire on the pigtail side to work with? It would probably be easier and more convenient just to tidy up that.If that is not an option and you want to go ahead and replace the CAS then you can just line the two up and solder the respective...
In Canada my favourite place to get parts is rtmracing.com, awesome service, comes in approx. 2 days and you don't pay duty. its bad ass.But regarding your question about the CAS plug RTM doesn't carry it, i checked around. If i were you i would try and repair it by properly soldering the...
Thanks for the responses. If both of you think that then ill try and listen to it run again. Ill do the spark plug wire test and see if that can tell me anything. I guess its entirely possible that its piston slap, it was sorta chilly today.
I had just installed a fluidamper with the arp bolts onto my fresh motor. Upon installation i noticed that at recommended torque the pulley had a bit of play, so i applied an additional 5 ft/lbs. -That seemed to do the trick.I went out a few times to capture some logs to dial in my Ve table...
Its really easy since you have the BEP housing. The simplest method would involve buying an O2 housing with a waste gate (i prefer the recirculated type), and just replacing your existing o2 housing.I have the same setup as you and this works perfectly, not to mention is a nice looking...
@1990awd - The thing about that is getting a awd stock exhaust that would pass. Im not sure if you have seen any of the pick-your-parts here but they are hurting for turbo awd 1g dsms. The 1gs that they do have are sunk into the ground, and that is a miserable day of digging that I am not...
Hey guys,
I am just in the process of getting an out of province safety inspection on my car and I show up at the inspection place and they tell me that my car will not pass because it has an aftermarket exhaust.I think thats fair enough because my megan 3" is loud as hell. Ideally I would...
What is your end game for this car?If you are doing a stockish build w minor upgrades then 8.5:1 is less complicated. mind you 9:1 isnt much more compression, but there is the increased chance for detonation. Since you are relatively new to tuning i would keep it simple. For the tuning...
I personally have not done exactly what you are doing but common practice is if you plan on modifying fuel delivery- fuel injectors, fuel pump, or have increased fuel pressure you need a way of compensating for that increase. What I am trying to say is you need a tuning system. Personally I...
The whole point of having a fuel pressure regulator is to maintain fuel pressure at 43 psi above the pressure of air in your intake manifold. When you are at atmospheric pressure it will read 43 psi, hence why you disconnect the vacuum hose to reference the ambient pressure. When you engine is...
OK thanks for the response. I was just being paranoid, I remember cleaning it and spraying brake cleaner in the oil holes. I just hope it was good enough.
If one was to have forgotten to clean the crank is there any procedure to try and wash some of the shavings out? Or just oil change like crazy?I don't mean to thread jack but Im sure I cleaned my crank after having it polished from the machine shop, but now paranoia is setting in. I just...
I would replace that radiator cap. If you cant build some pressure (due to the leaky cap) then the coolant system is not working optimally. Also pressure testing the system is also a good idea, it will give you more info to work with.
Found the oil leak. Who forgets to put a seal on the oil pump gear? honestly...Anyway, here is a new log. I couldn't check the tps because my ohmmeter died on me. I changed some settings around in link but im still not sure what is preventing me from a least idling. Gotta move this car to a...
Appreciate the input,
yeah its plugged in for sure. Ill be heading to the junk yard on monday to get a new tps, i checked it with an ohm meter and the resistance between pins 2 and 3 increase as the throttle is opened, seems right. Would a defective tps present like this?
Hey folks,
Running into some issues with my rebuilt motor. Im trying to prioritize my issues but having a difficult time searching for their significance. The issues:
-Car will startup but will die as it comes down from high idle
- dsmlink tells me i have a tps sensor malfunction (cause...
To answer this question you will need to first measure your oil pressure from wherever you are sourcing it from (i'm assuming ofh). If the pressure is too high try your filter out then remeasure. If that is still too high then you may need a restrictor, a common size to use is .100in, although...
Thats rough... I bought some wheels from wheelsnext.com and they came with those type of lugs. That might be a good place to check out to see if they sell them.
Just to verify, i looked back through the thread but i didn't ever see how you said the car felt. Is is slow as hell, gutless? Can you hear spool? At this point I am stumped and I jsut want to verify that you don't have a faulty boost gauge. I know it can read vacuum but are you sure it can read...
Hey Corey didn't mean to come off as arrogant as my post sounded- twas not a bash. On that note, a O2 housing wategate configuration, as im sure you know, exhaust gas must first pass through the internal wastegate "flapper hole," - same gate that has been welded shut. Which would explain why...
RvlutionMtrsprt said it up there, how would a missing wastegate seat cause this if no exhaust gas is reaching the wastegate in the first place?
this has to be simple. Does the turbo infact spin?
have you verified the pressure of your oil feed?edit* saw that it spins freely.
If you are looking for parts, specifically injectors, try Welcome To Extreme PSI out. I have done a fair amount of business with them and they are pretty good. While we are on the topic of where to get stuff, check ecmtuning.com for dsmlink, it was possibly the best upgrade i have done to my...
If you are doing head work or putting in new lifters ensure you bleed them before installing them. You risk bending valves if you dont.

Is anyone playing around on a road course with a .55 ar bep HX35? Just about to start the car up and am interested in how this particular setup typically fares on a road course.
like all the others have said, yes it can. Here is my favourite example of ducted radiator setup. Although you are specifically concerned about the fmic obstructing airflow the setup in the link below will give you an idea about what is involved in ideal (or almost) radiator cooling...
Haha right on. Is that freshly applied in the picture? i want to do something similar, i like the contrast but i am concerned with durability. Sick car though, it looks mean.
Huh, i figured out prothane effed up the bolt size on the front mount. I ended up getting one of the right diameter made for me, just for thoroughness. When it comes to mounts i have usually had luck getting the front and rear lined up first (sometimes i apply a bit of grease to help them...
I am currently doing the timing belt on my motor and with the proper tension my new belt doesn't move like that. You are right to be concerned. If i were you I would check the distance the auto tensioner is protruding. Standard value i'm fairly certain is between 3.8 and 4.5mm- but i would...
For my recent rebuild i went to thedsmgraveyard.com and got a set of their 2g pistons on 1g rods with ARP rod bolts. It is more or less a stock replacement with higher compression (8.5:1) and more peace of mind with the ARP rod bolts. What makes this a good buy is the fact that the are shipped...
Yep you are right, no need to put it back in. As you know the reason you put the front ones back in is to block off the oiling holes from the main gallery. No such holes exist for the rear balance shaft no no sense in putting them back in. Hope that helps. Also take care when putting the...
Assuming your cam angle sensor (CAS) is installed then your cams should be in their appropriate locations. However did you align the punch marks properly on the CAS?Also regarding the lifters, did you bleed them? are you able to compress them with your fingers? you should be able to. Just...
