While it is absolutely true that a summer tire will lose performance as the temperature drops, they (typically) won't exactly become "hockey pucks". I could actually drive my GSX in the snow with Yokohama s.drives. It wasn't ideal, but certainly possible. Never was a problem in the dry down to...
The EGR valve is basically directly under the throttle body, a little lower than the ISC and farther in toward the middle of the engine bay. Looking from the passenger side of the car, you should be able to see it mounted to the manifold under the throttle body.
I have a modded '98 GSX. The other day I was getting on the highway, wot in 2nd, and she fell on her face mid-pull. Kinda got back in it but then bogged down and died. Would start right back up and idle, but if I revved it up, it would bog when the rpms came back down, and would die immediately...
I actually haven't tried anything since I started this thread. I haven't been driving much and when I do drive, I just take the heat and roll with the windows down. I was also on vacation, away from my car for a while so couldn't try the basics
I know they're separate fans.. I think what is happening is, when I turn my A/C on, it puts extra stress on the engine (more than it should) and overheats. And yes, I know turning the heat on blast brings engine temps down, and I do that when necessary, I just want to be able to roll with A/C...
Hey guys, I need some advice. Any time outside temperature is above about 95*F and I want to roll with the A/C on, my car (98 GSX) starts to overheat. If I keep the A/C off and roll with the windows down, it stays around normal operating temperature but then I'm burning up lol. I have the stock...
False alarm! Did another compression test today with yet another gauge and was reading 135ish across the board. Also did a leak test and all 4 cylinders were leaking less than 20%
I used 2 different testers. Both were at my tech class, and of good quality.Car was just under normal operating temperature. Throttle was wide openI'm going to tomorrow
Did a compression test today and she read right around 50 PSI on all 4 cylinders. Yes, you read that correctly. FIFTY PSI across the board. I'm surprised she's still running lol. Any recommendations on where to get a new motor? My long-term goal is 400-500 hp as a DD
Well I'm not set on a 2" drop. A bit less than that would be fine, I just want it lower than it is now (I'm sitting on eibach springs, not sure how much it's currently dropped)
So just to clear things up, a daily driven 98 GSX that will never see the track and looking for about a 2" drop should getThis: Koni North America - ITT -1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Catalog SearchThis: Ground Control - Coilover Conversion kit, 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse/TalonAnd this: Road...
I plan on purchasing an AEM wideband at the same time I get the tuning software. I would like to see both of the softwares in action, so I can get a feel of what I'll be dealing with either way. Are there any links to both DSMLink, and the ECU flash being used? (I looked on youtube but couldn't...
My long term goal is 400-500 hp as a daily driver. However, right now my goal with tuning is to get the car running safely/efficiently. I don't have a wideband yet but I fear I might be running lean. I probably could learn how to work ECUFlash, just don't have any experience and want some opinions
I'm wanting to start tuning my car, and I have no experience. I have a 98 GSX that has a "Ceddy mod flashed ECU" (came with the car). I know a lot of people use DSMLink and I've heard that it is more "user-friendly" than the Ceddy mod so my question is this: Should I buy the cables and software...
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/u3Kqh52PC6Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>This is how I made the "tester" (with the exception of the gauge)
I'm boosting about 15 pounds. I used a compressor at school that I'm assuming is about 50 psi but I didn't keep it on there for very long. I feared a blown turbo but it didn't make any sound when i put compressed air to it. And when I'm driving on WOT, you can hear the turbo spool up normally...
I have a 98 GSX. When I hit full boost, there is this weird noise that sounds like a baby elephant blowing through it's trunk. The really weird thing, it sounds like it's coming from the driver side skirt or wheel well or something. I checked for boost leaks and not only did I find none, there...
Ok, I got my gsx about a week ago and everything was great. Well a couple of days ago the check engine light comes on and she starts acting funny. Doesn't pull as hard, blow off sounds a little different, revs like a mad man in first gear but doesn't pull like it should, has a little trouble...
Hey. Just saying hello. Name is Aaron, aka Ox. My first car was a 99 eclipse gs (totaled TWICE. Pics are in the galleries) and I just purchased a 98 gsx (more info and pics as soon as it is in my possession)
