Had a great day today. Finally got 4 of our rides going. Got some new-to-me goodies for mine, turbo, wheels and tires(off parts car we bought). Had a friend stop by so we decided to get some pics. Was a nice day without having to thrash in the garage for a change. Just need to get more the dsm...
If you had read my post, you would notice I mentioned that at the end. :tease: I love it when we do those things to ourselves. Yeah, we, cause we all do from time to time.
Well I know that the ecu looks for a particular resistance at key on for those solenoids. So that's more than likely why your tripping the codes. Try this and see if your light quits coming on. Find which wire on each is the 12v. Stick a temp wire in each and run to a ground like battery...
I believe the one on the left in the pic is the tentioner for the cam drive belt. I would attatch to the arm that the hydraulic tentioner in your last pic is pushing with. At first I thought it might be the balance shaft belt tentioner, but the two holes are for the tool used to turn it on the...
:hmm: I suppose it could. Can you give more info? Does it happen only at certain speeds, when under heavy or light loads(more or less gas pedal), while turning. Any information would help considerably.I know one of my cars was doing that, turned out it had a once in awhile dead cylinder...
I would have to say yes, it is pointing to the ecu. I have one on the shelf that does the same thing. Every once in awhile the car would almost start but not quite. I put in a different ecu and it started right up.
I would check voltage output at the ecu. The link below will guide you the the correct pins. Obviously, if you have voltage there your wiring must be corrupt. If not, your ecu is either bad, or you are missing an input to the ecu. My wife's car had some wire connectors pulled out or partially...
Have you checked or do you have a way to make sure that you are getting voltage to your injectors? If you don't have voltage to them, then you either have an ECU or a wiring issue. Again, if you don't have voltage, check the pins on the ECU (see the link I posted above)to see if it's sending...
I meant spark plug wires not ecu wires, my bad. I fixed it in the post above. By checking ecu I meant to actually test the output to the injectors. I'm not certain about a 1g, but a 2g you can test the pins on the ecu for volts out. You would have to do a search to find out how and what voltage...
any reciprocating combustion type motor needs these things to run.Fuel
Air
Spark(ignition source)
Compression
And it all has to happen at the correct time
A path for your exhaust gasesSooo....Pull your plugs. Are they wet and smell Like gas? If so, you are getting fuel. If not, check your...
WOW, you have no idea what your asking. It would take alot of the people on here to spend alot of time to give you the answer your looking for. Lucky for you most of what your looking for is already here. All you have to do is read it.here's an example...
^^What he said!Use a good brand of rust buster stuff(PB Blaster or ???). Be liberal. If you can warm the area all the better. Let it work in. I have found that more times than not a left twist drill bit and of course running your drill CCW will pull most broken bolts quicker and easier than...
I don't mean to seem lika an ass, but I guess the answer seems simple enough to me. Just call a Quaife dealer and ask them directly. I'm sure they would be more than happy to help. Especially since you plan on buying their product. There's a where to buy link at the top of the page here...
I can't answer the question of whether you need lsd axles for the quaife. I do however know that both my gsx's have an "extra" splined nose on the passenger side axle that inserts into a set of gears in the center of the carrier. I do not and have not owned a non-lsd rear but I would doubt that...
Sounds like a fuel problem to me. Like its constantly running out then getting a surge. Bad pump, plugged filter, wiring issue, etc. Did you try to "hotwire" the pump so it's getting power to run at all times. Do you have a way to check fuel pressure while driving it.Just my .02. Hope it's...
Eagle talon tsi tradeI especially like the part where they are willing to trade for....yep, an eclipse WTFoh...guy i work with called him, he sent pics with the drivers front fender and door all beat up and he wants 4700 for it. Guess this one gets to rot in the back yard :ohdamn:
swapping the ecu will not get rid of the cel. I'm sorry my memory is bad, but if it was an auto and now a manual, just unplug the TCU and clear the cel. Also, if your returning to awd, you will need the drivers side driveshaft and intermediate shaft which bolts to your engine block just below...
Well I can certainly understand the emotions. It almost seems as nothing is wrong yet, something must be. I know how this sounds and I'm not being a @#+_@, just trying to help. Is your trans tight on the block. could it be the pressure plates are not correct for the application. sometimes parts...
When you say you replaced the clutch, did that include the pressure plate? Just asking because this is where I would be looking. Also, are you sure that there is no pressure on the tob when the clutch is fully engaged?
Well, yes and no. I'm sorry I can't give you a definitive answer. It depends on certain variables like the condition of the clutches and line pressure you have. In theory, you would be correct if the power being put to the clutch pack were simply past their ability to maintain enough friction...
yeah, just hook your wire to the post on the alternator. I'd sure like to see a pic of where your going to hook it up though. Your making me nervous because the post to hook to should be very obvious. It will have isolating(non-metallic) bushings behind a nut on a stud.
Well, giving my occupation I should be able to answer your question. Of course the answer is actually in your question.Ok, riddles be damned....You upgraded to a larger amp output alternator. Look at electricity like water through a pipe. Higher amps require larger wire because you are now...
I think it's from the tech articles or vfaq's. I've seen it on this site somewhere. Seems like a good deal to me.As far as the idle deal, mostly IMO it's about lubrication and seating the rings.
Your code 0118 is still showing after you replaced the sensor? If this is the case you probably have a bad or unhooked ground wire somewhere. Follow the wire as far as you can and try to identify the loss of circuit. If you have a tester, check your new sensor and see if it has the proper...
I hate answering these questions because so many have their own opinions. I'll get thrashed I know it. :shhh:I don't let them idle at all if possible. I hook up my shop oil pressure gauge in the engine bay so I can see it and have my wife do the cranking while I pay close attention to as...
Well, I guess I'll give it my best attempt. ;)For starters, one needs to know for certain if it's slipping for sure and then of course what is the cause. Sometimes it's not even a mechanical issue. If it is determined that the clutch packs are slipping, then why are they slipping. Poor...
Maybe I missed it in your post but did you check your fuses yet. I would start with the ones under the hood. BTW- don't forget to make sure your cluster is ok or your just gonna continue having issues.
I would be checking for boost leaks, vacuum lines cracked or unplugged, even sensors unhooked. You'd be amazed at what little things can be overlooked when putting everything back together. No matter how methodical one is, it's easily done.Oh, that code is sure to be pointing you in the...
If i'm reading your post correctly, you simply want to fill/check the level of lube in your rear diff. I have 3 GSX's and all have a plug in the case cover on the back of the diff that takes a 17mm wrench. The only thing in the path should be the sway bar, but you should be able to get to it...
Fix your idle issue, if your problems don't go away check back. I'm pretty sure they will go away.Check your throttle cables and look for hoses that are unhooked. These are the places to start IMO.
Jake, I can't be certain without more info, but it seems as though you are experiencing tcu problems. Not necessarily the trans itself. A bad solenoid or broken spring in the valve body could cause the sudden downshift, however I would think that would be very unlikely. If you have someone with...
Are You tig welding this together? And just a note: Is the drive shaft in that pic kitty-whampus in front of the carrier bearing or is it just my eyes. :hmm:
I'm pretty sure the reason your key isn't working in the doors because your aftermarket alarm is sending a signal to the lock/unlock relay holding the locks. My wife's 95 was doing the same thing.I removed the system as others have stated and was over it. Then I installed another one...
This should help. I just did a quicky search right here in the forum. ;)http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/maintenance-repairs/352773-98-eclipse-starter-relay.html
I was helping a young man change the water pump on his GST A/T last night. We brought the timing to TDC and made sure all the other timing marks were lined up. Then he makes a suggestion on how to make re-installing the belt easier. It sure made life easy. Put the tentioner in place, set the...
I ended up pumping all the gas out of my tank and putting in 5 gallons of fresh twice and then I had to drain the injector log. It finally cleaned up after that.But...cruz67 has a really good line on your troubles as well IMO.
You said timing is right, but didn't mention firing order. Could it be you have it wrong? I've done it. Also had to go help a friend who changed a head. Didn't mention he had coil trouble. after 2hrs I checked his firing order and found it was wrong. He swore it was correct. Engine fired up and...
Just a thought....did you check the fuel tank for bad gas? I had a 95 that I forgot to drain the old fuel out of before putting new fuel in and it pretty much did the same thing, except the oil pressure light.
I see 2g eprom ecu's here in the classified section pretty regularly for 100-150. Even a socketed one for 200. Got a set of fans cheap just last week.Check the classifieds here first, you might be surprised what you can learn and find to help your cause. :D
