Sounds like a problem I had. First check the wires that run near the EGR tubes. They are notorious for melting the wires and causing a handful of random problems. Inspect that thuroughly. If thats good you can move onto diagnosis. My specific situation was the cam position sensor. My symptoms...
Im a tech. Havent been there very long but nobody lubes anything on cars newer then E60 haha just thought the OP might like to hear that. Basically if it is not a newer car. I lube it
yes. there would be a ground in the original wiring harness that is specificly designated for the radio. But mostly everyone is right, You could just ground it using any of the screws that are touching the chassis
Not everyone who touches a car is exactly "qualified". There might not be a logical explination for why they did that. Id keep looking for a wire somewhere in there. From my experiance it should come from the same "bundle" of wires that the others came out off. Its possible they cut it extremely...
alot of people run guages ( boost, temp, oil pres.) off the cigerette lighter power and ground. I see no reason why you couldnt use it for your stereo. But there is already a designated constant 12v, Switched 12v and ground wire thats for your radio. You just gotta find it through the mess. A...
Im not saying you should do this. BUT I have seen it done in a tight money situation. Use compressed air to blow the piston out of the calipers, clean them with a wire brush and WD40 an slap it all back together. Im not sure it if is possible with our brakes but just thought id throw an idea out...
Id be interested to know what that relay on the CC connects too. Any body know? Also cant you just remove the whole setup an switch to a non-CC throttle cable. Thats what i was planning on doing..
You missed me by like 2 days. I could have helped you alot but its back in already. I do have an extra harness thats labled, if i get time ill take abunch of pictures for you.Heres a very breif explination of the routing. It starts behind the radio, then goes through the firewall on the...
I used the wiki and other searches but I just cant seem to lable this thing. Im in the process of tucking wires and vacume lines and I came across this. It has two vacume lines that go into it. One is from the intake manifold and the other is from part of the cruise control? (somebody help me...
Pulling the entire engine harness. Admiring the hacked up "wire nut" job some true profesional did. Deleted the POS water/meth injection. And delivered my head to the machine shop :thumb:
You need a $5 can of starting fluid. Then move to a 15 dollar fuel pressure tester. Then possibly a Multimeter. They will collectivly save you alot of time and money in the future
I pulled my exhaust manifold off to have it welded and noticed the exhaust port for cyl#2 had alittle "wetness" in the carbon build up. I figured well theres the leaking valve seal I knew I had. But after looking closer I noticed something. The valve guide for cyl#2 exhaust had fell down and was...
Youll learn alot on here by reading. An spending whatever free time you have with a wrench in your hand or your face in a manual. You obviously got the DSM bug.. I was scrared outa my mind when my car "S**t the bed". I think a rebuild is much more practical cause it gives you a much better...
VWVortex.com They have huge forums. I liked that forum alot when I was into the V-DUB scene. I was mostly looking at apperance stuff though. My brother in law knows a very nice VW/Audi site. Ill ask him if you need more help.
Any business gets busy and becomes inefficient. If you guys just call them and have never been there, they operate out of a reletivly small shop in the back of a industrial/commercial complex. With the snow and ice we've gotten it was probly impossible to get to the shop recently. I live less...
I support all police departments no matter what.. Ive been pulled over alot. Never once got a ticket. Talk like a gentlemen and treat them with respect, reguardless of their additude. For gods sake call him or her officer/trooper or sir/ma'am
^^^^^ haha its funny what people dont read before they post.. the gas is OLD my friend. Im talking a year give or take acouple monthes (long story). I worked out the bugs on my own i believe. Like you said im gonna pump out the old gas an put in fresh 93. Think itd be smart to run it with...
Ive checked timimg probly 14 times in the last two days. It lines up every two full revolutions. And compression is 150-170 across all cylinders.I think the second ecu is garbage. When i went back to the original i pulled the plugs after cranking and they were soaked. Im gonna siphon out...
^^^Yes sir, Thats the way my car is.I just put the original ECU back in the car and cranked it over. It cranked for about 8 seconds then got one cylinder to fire ( I got excited haha)
Ill have to lift it up to check the rear o2. But i know the front upsteam is brand new. It was even wired up by a performance shop in my area. Less then 500 miles old. The haynes book says 1-3-4-2 And my plug wires are in the correct order. Heres somthing interesting, I just put in brand new...
When I try cranking it over, Its trying to start but it just cannot fire up. Its difficult to explain but its seems like its not firing more then 2 cylinders an its out of sequence. instead of firing 1-3-4-2. Its like its just 1 an 4. Remember thats just an explination, NOT fact. I was cranking...
Well it does line up after two full revolutions. Im gonna give it another shot tommorow. By going off what you said about turning it two full revolutions im pretty assured its in time. I asked my boss the today, he said the two marks are there so when you use a straight edge to check if they are...
Im trying to check the timing on my 420a because of a no start condition. I have the car up in the air and heres my problem. I turn the crank pulley with a rachet till the timimg marks line up. Then i look up at the adjustable cam gears and the marks line up. Then ill turn the crank a full...
Hiyah fellas,
Just an update, the car still does not run. I did another compression check and its all good across all cylinders. I also replaced the Crank Position Sensor for cheap and that didnt fix my problem. Im pretty positive the coolant leak is from lines to the heater core. So...
Haha learn somthing new everyday. Yeah i forgot about that whole gravity thing. Well sounds like ill be pulling my head off. Starting.... tommorow :) Any links on write ups, or more information you guys could shortcut me too? Thanks fellas.
Its a multilayer steel headgasket. Think it actually failed? The antifreeze seems to be coming from the back right corner of the motor. Near the throttle body. Just wondering if theres like a freeze plug or something that could leak around there.. I got a nasty feeling i gotta take the head off...
The engine oil pan gasket failed right near the oil filter. Theres oil up and down the back of the engine block. Theres also alittle antifreeze that i cannot determine the cause of. But either way theres alot of fluids that are covering the CPS sensor and oil pressre sensor. Seems like they...
Hi guys. This will be my first post so give me alittle leway if I make a mistake. I bought a turbocharged 420a thats running the portfueler and MSD DIS-II. Awhile back the motor quit on me. A years worth of trouble shooting an money saving has left me with some questions. Right around when the...
