I made a sway bar today from scrap I found in the garbage. It works pretty well for the little bit of testing I did. Obviously a big change but will report back when I put some more miles on the car.this was so simple I wish I tried something like it sooner. Using an old metal bed frame, I...
They were never used. Looked brand new when installing. Nothing wrong with the damper. the roads suck and the springs are hard.I’ve looked at these springs. They are not really the right size though @ 12” long and 2.55” wide. I’d consider them, but how would they be different from Just adding...
So you were running 10k/8k front rear. This topic is about a dual spring setup (main/tender) on the same Coilover. Is that what you switched to? I’m sorry you hit your head.
So I did a little more calculating and if the corner sprung weight is 800lbs:
8k spring will depress 45.7mm
6k spring will depress 57.14mm
5k spring will depress 68.57mmthe tender springs are only 72mm total. So a 5k spring seems too light to be any effect at all.I need to check my current...
I just installed 180mm 8k/6k springs on my fwd 1g. I like that It handles great, but the comfort is not there. I want to add 5k or 6k Swift tender Springs to the front . I can’t find any example of someone doing this.with the 8k (450lbs) spring in tandem the Initial rate would be 172lbs with...
So it seems the rear Koni struts for FWD 1gs are NLA Part# 8040 1128I was looking to get Koni Front strut inserts, but what could I match them with?
Is there another model that's a similar size. Id rater not get agx rears as that is seemingly the only option.
Are these no longer best in slot...
I like my s1s a lot. So much so I put them in a second car I'm building. Great low end response. The kelfords are bigger cams and requires a higher tension spring set. If you stay above 5k maybe you want the bigger cam. I do not and did not.
Lol. You guys are too funny.Three more posts and still no one with insight on any of the questions I asked. If anyone has info on rear swabar or track bar that fits Please step forward. Thanks guys. That's just blatantly untrue.
1G FWD! Suspension Techniques Rear Sway Bar Install

:ohdamn:
I'm posting on the biggest DSM forum in the n/t section looking for real world experience with the d22a chassis in reference to rear track bar and sway bars. I had 3 questions.1. Does anyone know about an adjustable panhard bar that might fit without being totally custom.2. Has...
It's to be a DD. A regular street car. How many was can I say it?Rear camber is not adjustable on a fixed axle car...Why are you offering advice on something you know absolutely nothing about?
If you read my original post, I asked 3 questions. So far all 3 are unanswered. The title was a joke but I though the first post was very clear. I'm building a street car and I want neutral steering characteristics from the existing suspension. I want to know if anyone used bolt on parts, sway...
Defiantly not in the budget. Don't have the time or space either. I'm in the final stages of a mighty max dohc turbo swap that went completely out of control. Its taking up all the garage space currently. Besides, Awd cars under steer with power to the rear wheels. I'd be in the same boat after...
The axle beam is technically the sway bar in this "twist beam" type suspension. So no stock sway bar. I subsequently found mention (on here) a fabled factory race team sway bar. Only 2 were known to exist though. This bar had nicer mounts than the ST counterpart. Either way the ST bar and the...
You look at the card for the measured height. You start turning the crank until that height is reached. You mark that on the degree wheel. Keep cranking until it stops going up mark that as peak. keep going slow till it goes down mark that and your centerline will between those two marks. And...
I'm putting together a fwd car and want it to handle well without the classic under steer. So far Its lowed on sport line springs with evo 8 rims installed, and all the maintenance is done.I have a gsx front sway bar but need options for the rear before that goes in.Has anyone installed an...
You guys are missing the point. If you use different lube on the thread the actual stretch and clamping force is the same if you follow the directions for the lubricant you are using. Following the directions to the letter is the best way to ensure success. Lock tight is a no no. You will not...
I did this because I had the parts sitting around. The engine was easy to degree because it was on a stand and I had to do the timing belt anyway. The lobes were slightly taller on the turbo cam. Now I have a longer duration intake cam with the same overlap. It is what it is. Maybe its better...
I have a solenoid for my modded Bov. How and when should I program it to be activated? Right now I have it set at over 40% tps over 4k rpm I'm still having surge issues.
It was advance not retard. I put the cam in and the gears yesterday. Did the timing. Looks good with the wheel. Engine is on a stand ready to go in today. We will see what happens I guess.
Here's a question that is a little unorthodox. If using a modified awd trans in a fwd 1g with the fwd Subframe, which engine brackets would be most appropriate?I'm going to assume the fwd turbo brackets. Has anyone done this and know for sure?
Given this knowledge would IT be worthwhile to get a set of adjustable cam gears and add them and a MT Intake cam To my NT Engine? If I retard the Intake 5* how much of a benefit would the added duration be? At this point the overlap would be the same correct?
I got a depth of 4.5 " with both. I also measured both clutch flywheel assembly and they were both the same height. I'll double check over the weekend but I went so far as to lay the awd clutch and flywheel on the tob of the nt trans and spin it. It was below the open face of the bell housing...
So if the ring gear is the same the car will start... that's good. Now will an awd turbo flywheel clutch and pressure plate fit inside n/t trans? I want a light weight flywheel for the nonturbo car I'm putting back together.I took a bunch of measurements and the awd and nt bell housings look...
Trying to put a DOHC swap parts list together and got stumped on the tensioner arm and idler pulley bracket. STM has them listed as MD195094 and interchangeable between 89-99. Is this a newer designed part or will an original 1g bracket and arm combo (that I already have) work with a 7bolt block...
Lift front of car. Center the wheel. count the turns left. return to center. Count the turns right. Return to center. Compare. Adjust. if not equal repeat. If you have free play with car in the air its the steering linkage.
Should be fine. The device just modifies the maf signal. Its universal. so follow the instructions and use the wiring diagram for your specific cars harness.
I noticed somewhere else you spoke to someone at bilstein. have they ever finished the mounts you said they were making? I have to find that post on the org.
I'm using a 94 nt eprom ecu and it does have a resistor at r129. I'm using eb20 code. If I don't have my wideband hooked up I will throw a code 43 for egrt.On the s3 forum it has been said a 10k resistor at the egrt pin will satisfy the check for the sensor. I had no luck with this. Maybe...
I'm a little confused by this post. Did you mean to write DSM has the same insert as a 3kgt? Are both 36mm diameter?
Will the hd bilstein fit inside a DSM strut housing?Edit
After looking around I came up with this:
r36-5022
Od 45.8mm(1.8")
Extended 480mm(18.89")
Collapsed 380mm(14.96")
Body...
