Thank You I have been looking everywhere to figure it out. Im still debating if I want to go the route of this turbo because it was given to me with most if not all supporting mods.
I got a turbo from a friend and it's HUGE the name plate is missing but everytime I look up the numbers on it it comes up with a t25 or t28 but this is maybe 4 times as big as a t25 so I'm not sure the numbers on the coldside are garret a/r .80 m-24 turbo

I could be just dumb but I'm...
The rebuild kits are decently cheap for the 420a and the engine can be rebuilt in a short amount of time. I would first pull the motor out and asses the damages. If it looks to be in good condition look into a machine shop to maybe hone/bore out the cylinder walls.
Depending on the money you...
Your oil cap could be leaking or not tight. But most likely it is your PCV valve. I had a similar problem earlier this month and found it to be a faulty pcv valve. You can remove it and check it by blowing air into it. They tend not to seal well even if new.
Another less likely thing could be...
What was your boost gauge reading? This could mean faulty boost controller or boost leak at higher boost. Bust most likely a boost leak.
I noticed from your last picture that there was a filter on your intake. Where is your GM maf sensor located and are you venting your BOV to the atmosphere...
I saw you were in beloit. When I was at LKQ in Rockford last week there was an eclipse there that had most of the transmission still attached looked to be in decent condition. Might be able to find it there. If you're looking for a quick or temp junk yard fix.
Try pressurizing it at 20-30psi to account for boost spike. I know a rule of thumb is double what you intend to do for stock boost I'm unsure though though on more boost. But it sounds like you're hitting boost leak or of fuel cut. When it gets to higher rpms can you pass to redline if you gas...
Also is the tune completely gone because you need to compensate for injectors. Your settings should be global -47% dead time 330 for fuel injector clinic injectors should get you somewhere close to what you need though. Double check the end tuning website for more info...
Do you have a check engine light?
What PSI did you do a boost leak test at? And did you pressurize the system or did you just do the soapy water while running?
Also do you have v2 but using the V3 program?
If you must do it with the head on find a way to block debree falling into the firing chamber. In the past I've used a blue shop town to catch most of the shavings but it is far from a perfect method. Best of luck though to you eaither way.
You will just need to replace the insert and the sparkplugs. I take it you mean the cylinder head threads are the damaged ones? If you have the resources remove the head so nothing gets into the engine. If in a pinch you could try and block off the cylinder with a cloth or a napkin though I...
Not sure if this is any help but I had a problem when I was messing with a friends car to get some logs his ecu was locked. Try downloading the unlcocker and see if it can help you out. The old site is down but this is a mirror link i used. http://evoecu.logic.net/mirror/svn/tools/MitsuLogger/...
I have helped a friend do this once. Did you make sure to cut the wire from the TCU and ground the other end? I can not remember what it is off hand but ill look for it and see if i can find it. That was the problem we had for the reverse lights.
Im new to ecm link also and mine did the same thing. I found my battery connection was loose, but I also restarted the computer and changed usb ports. When mine wasn't connecting though the green light on the v3 cable was not lighting up after I did those three things It was working fine.
Just an update if anyone was wondering what all ive found out. Checked the spark plug wires they are an autozone "oem" brand. Replaced them with a friends stock gsx wires with only 40xxx miles just for now. Intercooler was full of oil due to the pcv valve but cleaned that out with diesel.
I...
I see you're in Kentucky. Im in Carbondale Il, but if you are interested in traveling to STL there are quite a few shells ive looked at with little to know rust i think a gst a gsx and a tsi on craigslit. and there is also an older one if you are looking for a 1g. if that first one youre looking...
I was pretty sure close to stock. Just a t25 no boost controller guy removed it and I have yet to put mine on. Also haven't put bost gauge on yet. But the stock one doesn't move at all really. At most though I'd guess 15 as that's what the guy said he was running before
Thanks for all the help.
As for the pcv system I plugged the hole on the intake manifold . Took the pcv valve off of the valve cover then routed that to a paintball air container made into a catch can. Then back to the valve cover breather hole. I followed a guild to rerouted it. Also plugged...
Thanks yeah that's what are on there. I'll get them switched out. Where is the best place to buy them? Online or through like an auto store? And what brand do you recommend that holds up the best
Thanks all for the help! I ended up figuring Out another problem. Disassembled the inter cooler piping just to double check and found a piece of hard plastic used for a spacer in a few of the pipings. I'm thinking it's the cause of the bost leak bc it looks like it has moved around.
Also will...
I'm working on figuring out boost level getting boost gauge this week or just tearing apart my compressor to use that one LOL.As for safc 2 the only reason I'm asking is it previously had one and I didn't know if I needed one to get back to stock ecu settings if it was just taken out and not...
When I got the car it had an aftermarket vented one I swapped it for a recirculating on my friend had lying around I believe it is an eBay type rs bov. Doing this fixed the problem a little bit but then was spitting oil out of the pcv into the intake. Fixed that with a catch can but still...
The runs at fine but when high acceleration or boost hits it stutters and the BOV goes crazy.
Was running rich due to Vented BOV but fixed that by getting a recirculating BOV. Now the car runs better no black smoke but stutters. PCV valve was disconnected and spitting oil out of both valve cover...
Picked up a 96 Tsi today first real 4g63t DSM I have owned that actually run and a project I intend to finish while going to school. Bought it off someone who bought it from someone and the original owner seemed to have removed quite a bit of mods but left some. Trying to go for close to stock...
If you can get the car on a lift you can just pull the oil pan. I did that on my first car and had the car on blocks. It worked out decently well but it wasn't the first engine I worked on.
I had a similar problem happen to me on my 420a engine. For some reason when my power-steering snapped my cam gear broke free of the cam shaft (there is a little pin that makes both turn at the same time). So it looked like the engine was cranking, but the cam was not moving. Not sure if that is...
the person who owned my car before me(95gsx) when he tried to remove the transmission he cut the shift linkage wire and also bent the shiftlinkage and weight conected to the trans. Then he jb welded the shift linkage back together, but the weight and linkage on the trans is still bent.
I was...

I just recently bought a gsx. It is one of the many dsms that i have owned, but the first turbo one. On the drive home the car started to stop and have problems. I later found out that the turbo was blown.
The car is a 95 gsx. I took it apart to find installed was a stock smi, and a 28in fmi...
