Try this link for dimensions. I would ask if someone could make a paper template from a stock door and use that for drilling. (as in the link). You only have one shot at this. If the strakes don't match up, it will look pretty bad...
Stopped in Autoz0ne to pickup their 'oil change special' (jug of oil, filter)...I saw an ad in the store for a deal on winter blades so I picked up two. Their sign by the ad said 'free installation, so when I checked out the girl asked if I wanted them installed, so I said sure! She turned to...
I have also been through these threads looking for the correct fittings for the fuel hardlines. In my case I need one for the top of the pump hanger, where someone cut off the end of the hardline. Putting SS Line/hose on with a clamp is just a bad idea. So I finally found a compression fitting...
I just reworked by fuel feeds/returns with -6an SS lines! (as many other have done on here.) Is there certain makes of SS lines which allow vapors to escape? I know there are different manufactures of SS lines, but it would be good to know which type of SS line you used. I was told that they...

Review the info in this link. If the fuse blows when you first turn the key, I would unplug the wiper switch and the wiper motor and then try the key again. If the fuse DOES NOT blow, then...

There are more tubes/hoses in that location then just the large tank fill tube. See link below. Not sure where the fuel filter is on a 420A.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cleveland-area-dsm-forum/409522-fs-brand-new-filler-neck-new-filler-neck-gasket-44708-a.html
The way I see it is you have to pull the motor anyway. So if you are on a tight budget (who isn't?), rebuild YOUR motor. My guess is it would be less money than buying ANOTHER motor. Unless you want a bunch of spare motor parts.Maybe one way to save is to just have your bottom end...
I have read many times...it is not so much what is 'in' the rebuilt motor, but it is ALL about 'how' it is done. If you buy a 'rebuilt' motor you are still at risk of 'not knowing' if it is all good. If you find a good shop and manage your own rebuild (7-Bolt), you will at least know what (and...
This is one of the best articles to correct Idle Surge...I followed this and found my problem(s).Terry's Talon Troubleshooting Tips #3 - Fast Idle (aka. Idle Surge)good Luck
Sorry to get off topic..
I would get a poor mans stethoscope (piece of garden hose or slighty smaller) and see if you can locate the 'ticking sound'. Would be best without the timing belt cover, but we all know that is a pain to get off/on. Maybe you can locate the noise. If the noise stops...
+1... I went to a COP setup and was having problems (Idle, Misfires, etc). Did research on Tuners and found this is very common. So I sold mine. (I did not have a DIS or MSD box). As said...can't beat the stock coil setup unless you are pushing the HP...

"started to act like it was miss firing then heard clicking under the dash..."Also could be the CAS/CPS...(not sure if 1g's have both). But since you noted the missfiring and clicking, it could be the sensor. If ECU just died, I don't think the relay behind the dash would be 'clicking'...
If you pulled the injectors (all four?) and saw them 'spraying' while cranking, then the CAS and CPS is probably OK. If the ECU does not see the Crank Position sensor 'signal' after a couple revolutions, then it stops the injectors from firing. (At least this is how it works on a 2G)You...
"Immediately after replacing them, with a brand new pair, is when the above mentioned bad problem began".I would swap the other (old) coil packs back in and see what happens. If your 'small problem' returns and fixes the larger, stuttering issue then you may be onto something. Is it possible...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/367266-any-difference-between-1g-2g-450cc-injectors.html#post152554516Before your spend money, read this link above. It indicates that stock 450cc injectors came in both black and blue tops. See if there are any numbers on the injectors to confirm...
I would pull your injectors to verify what size they are...stock are 450cc. It is possible the 'replacement' engine has larger injectors, causing the rich condition.
When you were 'unplugging' the CAS when it was running, did it throw a CEL? Should have! Usually if it is a sensor failure you would get a CEL (code). Sounds basic I know, but just thought I would mention it. I assume your CEL lamp is operational...yes?Another idea, since you believe it is...
I would at least check your head bolt torque is set or upgrade to ARP's. Get a hold of Ricky (Dacowgod), he does Link tuning. He is the local expert and has tuned many DSM's. He may be able to set you up with a 'remote tuning package'...(or if you are switching to SD, he could get link dialed...
+1 to that! It is puzzling why people consider all these 'performance plugs'. The plugs are there to just ignite the gas fumes. The fuel/air mix don't care if it is ignited by a blow torch or a match...
Yea, the twisties are hard to find, they were only on the 95. The 'ridges' are just part of the bumper cover, not an add on. I believe this is a standard 2GB front and rear (2GA's do not have the ridge).
Love your work!
Great job on the build!! Keep the pictures coming...Anyway, here is a pic of my friends car...2GB Talon with Highrise wing. Looks like another one will be on the road soon!
One common thing I hear, is the LAME CRANKING...If it is cranking slow, get some f'n battery power (a couple KNOWN GOOD batteries in parallel) and try it. If it still cranks slow, look into the starter or wiring to starter (big wires, need good connections). Until you get it really cranking, you...
To get back to the topic...lets try to obtain some facts.Measure your CTS (ohms) to see if it is OK. It is a quick and lets you eliminate a possible 'cause'. Also make sure the plug wiring is OK. If you measure at the ECU, you can be sure the wiring is good. Should be 2200-2500 ohms at 70F...
I bought a COP (plug and play) setup a while ago, it was a 'direct plug in' to replace the OEM coil. When installed, my idle jumped from 1000 RPM to about 2000 RPM. Just to make sure it was not caused by something else, I swapped it back to OEM and the idle was perfect. Switched back to COP and...
+1...If you don't replace the dryer and have it professionally checked/charged, you will soon be replacing this compressor again. Also, not all 2G's use the same compressor, so check the compressor where the lines attach to see if your old one and new one are the same. The 95-96 is one type...

I have found some autoparts stores selling the wrong CTS. Measeure the value to make sure it is correct. Also make sure the plug wiring is OK. If you measure at the ECU, you can be sure the wiring is OK. Should be 2200-2500 ohms at 70F, about 300 ohms at 180F...If it is the incorrect CTS...
You will not see significant gains changing to 272's with a 16G. In fact, you may loose some of the low end spool as you are moving the powerband upwards. If you are going to all the trouble to tear into your head, I suggest you 'build' it to your end goals (noted 600HP/HX40). Thus needing...
In other words...even if I upgraded the HLA's to 3G's...I would still need to use shims? (This is the debate...some believe 'no'...others 'yes'!) Do you know of a link which describes the process of measuring the cam base circle? I can do the math. I can get the 3G's and shims if that is what's...
Thanks everyone for your inputs! But how do you check that the HLA maintains zero lash? Is it as simple as checking clearence between your rocker and HLA once it is filled with oil? What is this clearence value? If your clearence is within spec, then I do not have to upgrade to 3G's or...
Ok, did some research and seems to be some 'opinions' on this question. I bought a set of Delta Regrinds (272/272) and they did not come with shims. Some research indicates that if you use the 3G lifters, they have enough 'range of motion' that shims are not required. Others note to use shims...
Look at the gauges to see who makes them. Go to their website and get install info. Most gauge companies post install instructions and wiring guides. (some common ones are Glowshift, Autometer,Sunpro...). If it is a pressure type gauge (oil pressure, fuel pressure-you will need a pressure...
My personal opinion on the Half-shaft mod is 'not worth the risk', and costs more! This trend started with the Buick Grand Nationals, as a way to increase air flow. With this mod, they cut away one half of the throttle plate mounting shaft. (The part of the shaft with the slot that holds the...
Research continues to support the 2GA's do support this indication, and the 2GB do not. I looked in the 97-99 DSM Electrical Manual and could not find ANY info on this function. However, when I went to ALLData and pulled up the 95 Diagrams, I did find the circuit diagrams, see below. For those...
Need a little more info...there are many FMIC's which fit without need to cut your bumper cover. It all depends on:
How large of an FMIC do you need (or looking to install)
Do you plan on keeping your crash beam? (the smaller cores can mount 'under' the beam)
The smaller cores (in height) are...
You cannot measure the idle voltage of the CAS with a meter...the output is a 'pulse'. So if you are trying to verify your CAS operation, there are other methods. But measuring the output voltage it while your engine is running is not a perfect way. That said, your measurement value 'seems'...
OK,
Since you replaced several items, let's assume they are all good components. Here are the circuit diagrams, I corrected the number of the ground location for the motor, since the Service Manual has the ground listed as #3. My guess is you have a 'bad connection' somewhere in the circuit. A...
OK, lets try to get this solved....
With the key on, If you take a piece of wire and push into pin #4 (yellow wire) of the 8-pin plug and ground it to something, your gauge goes up to full? If so, you wiring to your gauge and the gauge itself is probably OKNow, measure the ohms of the...
Report you findings, we can try to see what's up.
What were the 'ohms' of your sending unit?
Did you measure 'ground' on pin 3 of connector (is pin 3 connected to ground)
You already mentioned that if you ground the Yellow wire, the gauge goes up. Did you ground this wire at the connector of...
Here are the circuit diagrams for your fuel gauge. The ground wire is attached at Ground Point #8. Check that this ground is attached to the crossmember as in the picture. (if not, just ground this wire at a easy location). It is also attached for your reference.
Hope this helps! (Need rep...
