This topic has been an awesome read! I had been looking at a new bumper and just living with a different color till an overall repaint I had planned anyways. Now I want to paint the bumper myself, heck maybe the whole thing (maybe a lil too ambitious). But seriously, Keeles ,WES_393, and...
I'll take note of that, what is the best way to reach that area on panel? Haven't researched yet and a quick look in the dark I wasn't seeing direct access to under there. Though I am blind as a bat and only armed with the information I find on here. Normally I'd search this but the topic is...
I suppose I should address the not running thing before this, though this is going to be a huge help. Looking like a rebuild or swap is in my future sadly. Though i am going to try a new rod bearing and see how it goes for now.
And they're just going to be screwed in, don't need any nuts on the other side? Appreciate the help, your posts have been really helpful. Somehow it didn't dawn on me to search up removal/replacement of that wing , rather than swapping it with a talon one.
@Aww_420: That's not too bad, I'd probably mount it up with some double sided 3m first to make sure the placement was good, mark the holes, remove and drill. I suppose I'll have to look up plugging the holes flush from old wing. I don't like plastic plugs you can see.
I've never cared much for the high rise nor the Talon wings much, and had planned to go wingless until I saw a video. It had a really clean looking Talon with the 2GA Eclipse wing in it. The center part on the hatch seems simple enough. Either buy a Eclipse hatch, or get the wing, plug old holes...
Got the CV axle off after a while of going back and forth to advanced auto for one thing after another that I either forgot or my neighbor thought he had and didn't. By the time I was able to get the pan off he had to leave. Anyways this is what I had found. First thing I notice as I pull pan...

Been busy at work without time to get to car. Started getting things prepped to to pull oil pan. got the downpipe and transfer case out of the way no problem. Now the issue i have is that the front driver CV shaft is in the way of two bolts. Was getting dark bu this time so i called...
The next thing we planned to do was to check the belts. It's easier to pull a wheel and look at that than get the oil pan off. And I never would have thought of that option there. I'm going to have to go get one of those and try that. Should I try and get the piston in a certain position while...
That is what i was afraid of. I did go into this knowing this was a good possibility, but couldn't help but hope I could have a bit of fun on a stock engine before I got a six bolt in it.
Dec 6th: Well, today the person helping me wanted to take one more look at valves and such with the cover off before we put it back on and went to the bottom of engine. Start her up, don't see anything conclusive but then she idles real hard, makes some hard knocks and stalls out. Now the car...
This one is actually a different one than we had talked about the first time. That one was missing side skirts, had body damage, extremely faded paint, missing head light bla bla bla and he wanted the same for that as the other guy asked for this one. Biggest difference was that one...
Rod knock, gotcha. We'll check into that. Pulling the pan was one of the next things we were going to do actually. I figured that wasn't stock, thought I'd ask though.

A few days ago (Dec 1st) I gave in and finally purchased myself a DSM. My friend has talked non stop about his GST back home, leading me to go with a DSM over my other interest, a 240sx. Anyways, I'm just using this to kind of track my progress, and I suppose...
Just wanna say, maybe I didn't post topic but quite helpful information. I just got a 95 AWD Talon, so looking at options also. Though I am starting from scratch, bone stock car.
Just purchased my first DSM today, and wouldn't you know it, I got one that doesn't run currently. I got it for a project so I think it suites that role just fine. Other than that in great condition, and amazingly stock, complete with side mount haha. Excited to get this baby going.:hellyeah:
Edit: Due to a situation where I either took it or watched it go to someone else I went ahead and purchased it. Should I have waited, maybe, but this is not my DD, so worst comes to worst, this will just force me to get (more like happily get) a 6 bolt swap in this instead. So I had asked your...
Good input dsmboost84, and I am trying not to, but I know myself all too well. There is a good chance I will rush getting a dsm in some way now that my mind is set on it. =/
Thanks to a local forum, I've stumbled upon a different DSM. Nearly stock
(save exhaust and stereo) 97 Talon AWD w/ 140k asking 3,500. I'm inquiring about MT/AT.
Good to know. And I believe the stereo doesn't work, I don't recall, wasn't my main concern to look at that. This is to be a project car, as I'm sure everyone's DSM is haha.
So my friend talked me into finally settling on the idea of a DSM. I have known if I got one it'd be a Talon (though I could change body parts to convert, this is just easier). First day I go to look for one I see an AWD MT on craigstlist. Wonder if I can get others input on this one before I...
iugrad: Yeah, it seems best to just replace the timing belt quickly should i get it, eliminate the it as either a suspect or fault, and needs to be done anyways.Two4: I'll make sure to look into that.
Thank you for the input thus far. Communication has been via email, I asked him if i could get it into a shop to have a check up done, waiting on reply. The timing belt i found out has about 50k miles on it if that means anything.
Post turned out longer than expected, sorry.I'm looking to buy a 98 GSX, general info is as follows, 122k , asking 5000, kbb for good is 4.2 (going to try and talk down closer to this). This isn't the part i need advice concerning. There are a few things put into it (quote from ad "mods are...
