2G Who wants a big SMIC? gauging interest

ngl, this is the absolute wrong way to go about a group buy. You need to provide some transparency to potential customers, like semi-regular updates on the number of people that have bought in and hope this encourages people to actually place the order. The way it's being run right now, it...

    2G WOT hesitation

@Gilly17 to address your original concern, the hesitation could be a number of things. I would start with the plugs and gapping them to the above mentioned specs and see if that solves the issue. If not, it could be a lean fueling issue that could be diagnosed by logging a lambda sensor...

    2G WOT hesitation

However; along these lines, make sure if there is a port on the low pressure intake piping (past red injen coupler, before compressor inlet) that it is capped if you are not going to route the PCV back into intake.I personally would avoid routing PCV back into intake as it will only dirty up...

Do any of these bushings need to use the OE sleeves? Or can they be removed?

    Odd Exhaust Port Anomaly

Hahah I like the optimism! The head is completely stock, no porting or anything. This encourage me to give it a good look over for cracks in that port though.

    Odd Exhaust Port Anomaly

Here’s a photo of the intake port for that cylinder: Looks normal to me. In addition, here’s a photo of the cylinder head: There’s a bit of a sludgy carbon buildup. That cylinder had a decent amount of carbon buildup on the piston top as far as I remember, so that doesn’t really line up with...

Ok, I was suspecting that but the gasket didn’t look like it failed. I suppose a new gasket, clean surfaces and ARPs will resolve that.

    Odd Exhaust Port Anomaly

Hey Tuners,This one has me stumped, folks. I’m currently pulling apart an engine I’m swapping from one car to another for a freshening up and I came across a single exhaust port that has nearly no carbon buildup, while the others have what I consider typical buildup. I went ahead and pulled...

You are basically following my plan to a tee; I've got a G37 Deep Green Metallic '95 Talon TSi AWD roller (hiding in the background) waiting to get a little attention. Running the same wheels in a BBS bronze pretty similar to yours. I do agree with you, that wheel color goes exceptionally well...

    Downpipe cherry red

That A/F sensor is likely narrowband if you are suggesting that it needs to be wired into an existing o2 sensor. Only recently have cars come with o2 sensors capable of reading the actual air to fuel ratio on a properly wide band, hence the meaning of wideband. To really know what's going on...

Random misfire and lean under boost

This sounds almost certainly like a case of a large vacuum leak. Take for instance if the PCV hose somehow came off of the intake manifold; this would allow the engine to pull in large amounts of un-metered air into the cylinder, making for a lean combustion event at idle since the ecu is...

If you're using the Ceddy Mods ROM then all of the periphery bits you are concerned with will be in tables 0 and 2. Below are the tables as seen in my ROM that I'm currently running with EGR and the charcoal can deleted, as well as the rear o2 removed; I have no CELs at all. My car is a '95...

    STM DSM Eye Candy

Exhaust flex decouplers are not employed primarily for isolation from powertrain movement, they're actually mostly critical in absorbing the constant fluctuation of pipe length as the exhaust heats up and cools down.

    Lean Idle After Hard pull

So a few months down the road here, I've now got an lean idle issue. On a cold start my wideband will show a healthy 13.0-15.0 at idle but then once the o2 sensor stops cycling for the cold start, the a/f sinks and eventually goes below 22.4, only coming up when under load, when the car appears...

2G How did you route your wideband gauge

Keep in mind that your A/F readings will be a little delayed at that rear location. If you follow the placement that the instructions say you should be seeing quicker response.

2G How did you route your wideband gauge

^ I second @babyviper, that's how I routed mine as well. Be sure to seal the sensor/wireharness interface. I used a good wrapping of duct tape...I know, probably not the most professional way to do it but it keeps the water out.
  25. hocka09

    Your most recent welding pics

Out of pure curiosity, wouldn't having those two wastegates mounted like that only be really effective in diverting half of the exhaust gases? I would assume the other two cylinders to just keep expanding through the turbo. Or is it having half of the gases dumped is enough to keep the pressure...

    Lean Idle After Hard pull

Hey guys,So as the title says I'm running really lean on idle, like 18.0-20.1, after a hard pull last night and I have no clue why. The wideband is a brand new mtx-l that I just calibrated last week so it cannot be reading wrong. Listening for exhaust leaks I cannot really hear any and the...

MASSIVE Boost Leak after Punishment Racing Intercooler and NGR BOV

    Help me understand turbo upgrading

With reference to your interest in keeping the same hardware for the most part, you'll want to go with a Mitsubishi Hard Industries style turbo (MHI) i.e. a EIII 16g or a 14b off of a 1st gen. If you read that bit that justin posted you'll learn about some of these different choices. Seeing as...

I would say that's a very fair price if it is truly rebuild, low to no miles. Alright, so like the title of the thread says, I'm looking for the two grommets that the windshield washer fluid pumps insert into to seal the pump to the fluid reservoir. stock turbo troubles

I just recently installed a 14b rebuilt by Justin. I got mine for 150 off of a friend but it turned out I needed a new shaft, compressor and turbine wheel. With the rebuild all said and done, I decided to feed from the head to maintain the oil pressure a 14b is used to (1gs turbos are fed from...

6 bolt stock tear down with pics ...what do you guys think?

I recently pulled the head on my tsi that was leaking oil down the front side of the block, turned out, looking at the exhaust side, the valve stem seals were leaking a good amount of oil and the turbo was on the way out. Those two combined or even just very worn valve stem seals can result in...

    Complete Cut Out in Boost

Well it looks like you have a wideband on there as well, what's it reading leading up to the cut out? It should show you the air fuel ratio right before cutting out as well as through the cut out. Is it reading leaner or richer right before the cut out?
  38. hocka09

Replaced valve seals, still burning oil at idle

Do your leakdown test. That will tell you way more than any of us could guess. But on that note, it could be turbo seals or even rings. Turbo seals tend to leak more consistently as higher oil pressure, i.e. upper rpms, but anything is really a possibility. If you do a leak down and track it...

Is this a good deal for an authentic EVO 3 Big 16g?

Well you gotta always remember that you're taking it for granted when dealing with a stranger. Good points you have there.I guess I'm more looking to make sure the valves are all good and that the head gasket didn't blow on this head or anything.
