Sounds like a bad synchro I had mine rebuilt twice due to the first shop rebuilding it and was doing the same so the second shop used bronze synchros and srt4 intetnals never had a issue again with 562 hp 493 torque.
That really sounds like my car did once and was a bad injector turn on the car pull one injector clip at a time to see if u notice any difference in idle if it dosent do anything when pulling off a clip its a bad injector.
Get 2 weld on check valves and run them to your down pipe might smoke every often once in a while but thats better then checking your breather box every little bit. ;)
I would deffinetly not use a damaged part is a $30 dollar part worth your timing belt shredding? Just buy a new one so your not wondering if later down the road its going to do damage.
My old talon tsi 1g had the same issue it ended up being bad rear wheel bearings.I would drive in reverse and the car would hessitate with a slight vibration it could possibly be something to look at or u can also look at the u joints. Does it make any clinging noises ?
I have yet to see a flashed 420a ecu besides standalone megaquirt , try to find out or post a injector part number so we can all see if your running the factory injectors.
The price does seem to steep usually 90-94 built go for 3, 000 to 4, 000 range im sure u can find a cheap one just wait it out like I did I ended up scoring a built 92 talon tsi for 2700 with hx35 , intercooler, mbc, and id1000s , dsmlink the guy must of not known what he was selling lol
