I'll post a few teaser shots:The new backup car::hellyeah:Only complant is the brakes::ohdamn:Notice the missing bolt on the cam gear cover!?:ohdamn:When I get the chance I'll give you the full blog!
Heck Jim, send me your civic and I will send you a camera! Seriously I got a freebee here that I dont use.I want pics of the rear toe eliminator install!Do I have to do any cutting? Or just out with the old and in with the new and weld around that curved lip?I'll update my...
That's terrible news, Greg. My heart goes out to his family. Definitely a wake-up call for me to be safe first and foremost. I won't have any fun or support my family from a hospital bed, or worse. Here is a Talon that is supposed to be ex-Archer, owned by Nelson Motorsport and driven by...
Thanks for the encouragement, guys. This is great info Greg, Thanks! This been niggling around in back of my brain also. I bought a used cover for my Stealth that looked great on the outside but was black and cruddy inside. I wouldn't use it and put my crappy looking original back on...
Yup, that's the DSS active rear toe eliminators-should compensate for the extra binding of a beefy bar.http://www.diamondstarspecialties.com/If you can't get ahold of anyone there try:http://www.gprparts.com/index.aspThat's the company operating DSS right now. If you still can't...
Well I spent all of January and February getting the Stealth back on the road. It had been on jackstands in my garage since January 2005! Still not completely finished the maintenance on it and may farm some of it out to a coworker who does some moonlighting on cars.Off course nobody's...
Fantastic write-up and driving!:thumb:The compression on the downhill turn squeezing you into your seat and spitting you out onto the front straight looks like alot of fun!:DI don't know about that uphill though! Way light and coming down hard with that guardrail and berm on the...
Awesome Greg!Fantastic write-up and an incredible job of overcoming the logistics! The Flying Banana looks great!I get a real kick out of showing your pics to my friends-they can't believe your driving a FWD 4-banger!Good luck on the rest of the season.Phil
Henry Watts: "Secrets of Solo Racing" should go on that list. The Skip Barber's book is excellent.I found Carrol Smith's "Drive to Win" rather disjointed and more of a diatribe than anything else, but maybe at this point he was stretching for material.Phil
Yup, stay away from those blood-sucking gougers UPS! :notgood:Most reputable shops are not going to ship "gift/value $10"I don't find duty too bad. It's courier brokerage fees that's killer. For most big ticket items I use a local guy who knows his DSMs. I'll pm you.
Theoretically I could be ready for wheel-to-wheel by 2006. Contingent on NASA expanding into the NW. Anyone in the NW following this thread? The biggest block for me is travel time/travel money. I can't promise anything, that's why I haven't participated in this thread.Phil

Woohoo! This is great Greg, A big congratulations to you and Thanks for making my day!I can just imagine how much fun those laps were when you knew you had the Championship and the pressure was off.Did you feel alot of pressure knowing we were all watching?Again man, this is great...
Nice job Sean, keep em coming. The local parking lot is quite rough and slippery also, but no rumble strips. It's fun sometimes to light up all four to put on a show!Do you have to do much travel to attend events? Are you trailering?Phil
Hey Rich, here's my thoughts:1. I agree that you may not have time to react but if you really wanted to do it the simplest switch would be a thin wire across the width of the timing belt through which you were checking for continuity(I work in mining and we use this principle to monitor for...
The core is 24"x12"x3.5" - bar and plate. No ducting. The stock stuff was removed for the FMIC. I've got the hood latch removed now, so I'm going to close in that area with a sheet from the top of the bumper cover to the rad support and punch some holes in the cover up top.
I've got that honkin big Kinetic FMIC in front of my rad. Should I go back to a side mount or break out the hole saw, or both? (EVOIIIB16g)And how about power steering - will I need a cooler for that?Nice picture, Rich!the Banshee!?
Sorry I'm late. There's at least one company(Whiteline) making a bushing for the rear toe. Here's a couple of really good threads:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104697&page=1&pp=25&highlight=hotbits+spring+rates...
Thanks for the encouragement Andy! I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for posting the map Kyle...I wanted to post it but had trouble with my pic hosting web site.I think the fastest time for a GT1 is around 1:18. I guess a timer is going to be in order as lapping days aren't timed...
I have been wrenching/tuning/building my car for the 1/4 going 3 years now(have not made it to the track yet which is 4 hours away...might never go to the 1320 now...read on).Well last month I was in the garage wrenching on the Stealth and heard on the radio about a local autocross. I'm...
Turbosmart's eBoost has a user defined "Wastegate Pressure", Which won't reduce the point the turbo begins to spool, but claims to reduce the time to full boost.I'm not logging boost so I can't prove/disprove it, but it seems to work.
Hi Greg,I'd like to say that you are an inspiration! I'm 41 and have just started Solo 1 with ambition to move up to sanctioned road racing within a couple of years. I love your writeups, but would like to see more detailed pics and text of the mods(particularly suspension/re-inforcement)...
Sorry Attack, wrong tool.Try Miller tools talontsi01, you might save a couple of bucks there.Check in on the Michigan thread of the Midwest sub-forum of the DSM Regional Meets and Events forum. Might find someone there to loan you one.Phil
'03 Giant NRS Air,(sub 24lbs with a few CF goodys!) so mostly a cross-country guy here. But I did make the requisite pilgrimage to Moab with some friends that are hardcore when I had my '01 Jekyl(quite a bit more rake than the Giant so wasn't too bad with a riser bar and fat tires).Phil
I just got the fiberglass hatch for the 1g and my friend has a 2g. Both came from Squidskins.(They won't do CF anymore)Mine is a the bodyshop right now being fitted. It looks like it's ging to run about 10 hrs just for the fitting! That doesn't include any finishing work or painting.A...
Probably should read "AN -6" not "Au -6".www.vfaq.com has 2 different methods for the fuel rail fittings. Also search "fuel rail fittings" on this site.I'd just go with the ready made fittings. PM TOTalon, he may be able to hook you up.Phil
I used a union and 45 at the AFPR and a hose clamp/cover at the return line hard line.http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=38007&password=0&sort=2&cat=500&page=1Phil

Sorry, Defiant, but I had to get this message out!http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171535We were all thinking there had to be something wrong with the car but never suspected there was no car!Phil
I just recieved a PM from d3solate and it appears this may be a case of ESCROW FRAUD. :mad:If anyone in the SF area knows d3solate please get a hold of him immediately. Here is the escrow he asked me about: http://auto1imports.com/Here is what I could find out with a google...
tstkl, read the posts before you post: nobody told him to get the GST in fact most are leaning toward the VR-4...after he checks the thing over with a fine toothed comb including carfax(because of the low price). All who posted either own/have owned 3S's. Thanks for the geometry lesson...
Under 10k for a '99 VR4? man thats a steal...sounds almost too good to be true.At 50k it has a required timing belt/plugs/plug wires/(water pump is suggested) coming up @60k.This job is not as bad as people are making it sound(you make a jig of wooden/plastic wedges to keep the cams in...
The main thing is to keep it COOL and tightly capped(don't forget the thermal expansion space! ~5%)I don't have this problem cause the "bulkiest" toluene I can find is gallon cans which I just dump in my tank at the gas bar.Phil
An N/T has pretty much all the same wear components/maint. items as a AWD turbo. :confused:I would save my money and exercise a great deal of patience to find a nice GSX/Tsi.Check all the wear items you would on any car: timing belt, water pump, CV's, wheel bearings, ball joints/tie...
Thanks man!I love my car http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/showmembers.php?si=pkieley&perpage=12&sort=2&cat=500&ppuser=&x=8&y=8 But in 2 years I have spent enough to buy an EVO or STI cash!If I had my time back I would have done more driving and less modding! Its all good though :p
Unless you have paperwork showing that the t-belt and water pump were done less than 40k kms ago start there.... and use OEM parts. A Mitsu dealer will be much cheaper than Chryster. If you have this done at a shop it will eat half of your money.Once you have all the maintenance done...
