I doubt that at all. 2.5" flows enough cfm to support 600hp. It has been proven on other turbo cars and in the V8 world. There is no way a 16g anything at whatever boost will pick up that much power from a half inch increase in exhaust piping. I would expect 12-15whp maximum on a car with...
CX Racing has water/air intercoolers for as cheap as $179.00. I have seen the lowest rated one flow enough for 1000+hp and keep IAT's damn near ambient. These fools on here wouldn't have to spend much money if they took the time a search for great prices and researched the most efficient...
An afpr is not necessary at all especially at the level of your modifications. A 255 pump will not overrun a factory fpr...at all. That is a huge misconception and I am not sure why it keeps circulating around the forums. If one person had an issue it shouldn't be made law that you "have" to...
Oh no questions about your credibility at all. I was just curious. With numbers like that the car should trap 142-144 fairly easily. I'd say you get a single digit timeslip with that as well. What impresses me the most about your combo is how stock it is. Making power like this with the...
Sounds like the valvebody to me. I have seen this issue before on other vehicles. Do you keep up on regular maintenance like fluid/filter changes? Could be a line pressure issue. Could be causing the delay in engagement.
But they are not doing back to back pulls. I single 1/4mile pass will not heatsoak a side mount like back to back pulls will.Quit wasting your time with the stock side mount man. FMIC will cure that problem.
Get an 90 degree elbow welded on the compressor housing to face the passenger side. That is the only way to fix that issue really or just put the 16g back on.:thumb:
1) Stock bottom ends are as good as the tune is on your car. Valvetrain components should be addressed if and when you upgrade camshafts. Mainly springs and retainers.2) Increasing the performance of your vehicle inherently increases the maintenance as well. There no magic number for...
Try a tuning device! Some 550 injectors and a 255 wally. An AFPR couldn't hurt either. 21psi with a stock fuel system and no tuning devices is a sure fire way to blow up stuff. Just some suggestions.:thumb:
72LB/MIN?? Hmmm.. Wow. Did you log 72lb/min?? T61's are usually good 50-60lb/min depending on who makes them. Not saying it is impossible but I have yet to see it. FP4R's make nasty topend power so I would assume you would upgrade the turbo to a larger unit considering the flow limitations...
Dang. Too bad, I would have liked to have seen you really push this set-up. This turbo is often overlooked these days. People forget that this was the first 10 second turbo set-up. I love the MHI reliability and the torque these turbos make. I have one on my car. Either way, good thread.
A 16g is a better turbo than a 14b. It simply flows more air. Even if it is an Ebay turbo run it until you get tired of it and upgrade. Atleast you don't have to ssend money on upgrading it now. Focus on the fuel system and tuning mods now.
^^^ I am assuming the OP is on a budget and the FP BT-28 is very pricey at $832.00. My opinion not worth it when you can buy a Evo316G for $499 plus $175.00 for the install kit. $675 total for a turbo combination that shits all over the T-28. of course a 16g or a 14b can be had for cheaper...
1G BOV
FMIC
550cc Injectors
255 Fuel Pump
Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
Turbo's: 14b, 16g, evo3 16g for the power level you suggested.

DSMLink V3

CatbackPretty generic but people have made 260whp with less. Good luck.
Well then seeing these figures I am fairly content with the performance of the car. Weather conditions were far from optimal including track preparation but I can live with it. It was just a baseline for the car so now I can start doing some mods. Thanks for the input.
150,000 mile completely stock talon tsi ran 15.30@93mph. It had a sorry 2.6 60ft time as well. The car was completely heat soaked from the drive to the track and was ran three times back to back with this being the quickest time. I know it isn't impressive but considering the miles I am...
The DSM community is small but strong here. No smog requirements in hampton roads, just need a cat to get an inspection sticker unless someone is willing to let it slide. Plus we have 93 octane and E85 pumps( located at Oceana and Norfolk Naval bases). There is a small group of DSMs that meet...
Thanks for the info guys. The car will be nothing more than a street car with an occasional drag strip pass. The car itself is completely stock. I am going with it because the current owner only wants $2850 for it and it is in excellent shape. I would prefer an AWD but finding one for...
Hey Guys!! Of course I am a newbie especially when it comes to these cars but I am interested in buying this particular model. Is this particular model a good starting platform? Is there any common problems I should look for before purchasing this vehicle? Any information would be helpful...
