It's a very cool car and a cool project, it takes very good fab skills to make a car like that but it's completely useless until you put like two 700+hp engines in it. What is the max hp a single engine can make in a dsm?? about 1300whp maybe so IMO it doesn't worth all the trouble if you don't...
I don't know the way you will do it but I always removed mine with trans and by dropping it under the car instead lifting it by the top. I find this method easier but that's just me.
I just wanna to share you that I've found a company located in California called Insane Shafts that build rear axles for 1g awd lsd. They have 2 version of these axles : the 500hp for $400 or the 1000hp for $900$. I don't have any experience with these axles so I don't know if they are good or...
yes probably the center diff that has been welded. This is a common mod because the weak point in the awd dsm drivetrain is the center diff. it's cheaper to weld it instead of repair or change it when it break but it's harder on everything else in the drivetrain. There is a lot of threads on...
I don't know if it's possible for you but maybe you can put bigger tires on it so you could go faster at the same rpm. That way you won't have to rev your engine that high. It's just an idea.
Well the title says it all, it's not my car but a friend's car. It's a 90 talon tsi fwd, he was driving yesterday and suddenly his car stalled and there was a bad smell. He found that his ecu had a leaking capacitors and burned few thing on the board. he searched in his dsm parts and found...
Ok, link isn't the cheapest but from personnal experience, a burned chip didn't worked well for me. My car never ran great with a keydiver chip, it always stalled on decel and bogged when I was snapping throttle to WOT from idle. So, I bought link and my car ran way better just at first startup...
yes logger, burned chip and safc is relatively cheap but is also not very good IMO. I went that route few years back and I finally switched to link so I paid twice for something I've should buy at first. Pay a little more and buy ecmlink, you won't need something else later. BUY ECMLINK .
remove the VCE as soon as you can. There is absolutely no reason to run with a limited-slip diff if the VCE lock the front and rear together. There is no more limited slip action, it's fully locked like if you had it welded.
Sorry, I always liked to see original projects but I really don't trust your front end conversion. With the weight and the torque of a big block I really don't think your car will ever be reliable. Find a good way to stiffen it or you will hurt or kill someone. Good luck
yes my wideband was calibrate few weeks back and I'm shooting for 11:1 afrSo, if I put a gallon of xylene in my gas tank and my knocks went away then I'll know that it's because of the crappy gas. If it's the case what do you suggest?? Water/meth injection maybe?
BastardDsm, you're right about plugs heat range has nothing to do with spark blowout. I was just suggesting to go with BR plugs for the blowout and for that setup I think that the 7's plugs are a better choice.
I run a similar setup and I had bad misfire last month at 15+psi so I changed my good but not new spark plug wires for new NGK 7mm wires and now no more misfires. I run BR7ES gapped at .028. For your setup you should run 7es plugs but forget the BPR and run the BR they are better if you really...
Hi, I am tuning my car and I can't get rid of my knocks. I started with a 2g timing map and as far as I retard timing knocks seems to drop but I can't eliminate them. My car is now slow as hell with timing like that but still knocking. I'm running 9:1 piston with premium pump gas (91 octane here...
I had both and the 16g hit was harder and a little sooner than the 20g and was a little more prone to loose traction with the 16g but with dsmlink as boost controller, you can set the boost lower in first and second gear or lower in the lower rpm and rise it slowly as rpm climb so traction will...
oem composite head gasket is unbeatable for the price vs quality and for the head studs, in a 7 bolt like yours you have to change the studs anyway but for your power level stock ones will do the job just right.
In fact, I have 9:1 cr piston but my true CR hasn't been measuredAfter another look at my last logs, I think it might be a bad knock sensor, the knocks appear anywhere and not always at the same rpm. I'll change my knock sensor and see what happens.
Td05h-20G turbo, 12 psi boost for break in, BR7ES plugs and I'm running premium pump fuel 91 octane. I've already drive around about 100miles with small pulls up to 4500rpm and varying load and rpm constantly. My ve map isn't accurate then my wideband read more like 10.5-10.8 afr at WOT and with...
Ok, I just started to tune my car with my freshly rebuild engine. I was 8:1 and now I'm running 9:1 engine compression. I want to run rich and with very low timing to dial in my ve map. What afr do you suggest to dial in the ve map and what afr do you run to make good power once tuned?? I'm...
Why do you ask opinion if you have already decided that you won't put an IAT in your car???
It's really not expensive and you SHOULD have one installed for a good tune and a good running car.
I'm not an expert but I think that cyclone intake on 2g head isn't an improvement like BogusSVO said. It helps on a 1g because it choke the intake like the size of a 2g and when the butterflies open you have all the airflow of a 1g head.
Sorry to tell you this but the best thing you can do with a safc is to put it in the thrash can. From experience, the safc just lie to your ecu about the airflow signal to make the engine running rich or lean. If you really want to tune your car for better performance, you need an engine...
really easy man! I've done this few years back. Just take the plug that goes to the auto trans and plug together the wires that goes to the starter ( auto trans cars only start in Park and Neutral)the two wires are black with yellow stripe if I remember well but i'm not 100% sure.
I'm now SD with Linkv3 and for nothing in the world I will go back to MAF. I did all I could with 2g maf and gm maf but my car never ran great. I've switched to SD and after few minutes my car ran better than when I was running maf. SD all the way!!!
Well a safc lies to the ecu about the airflow signal and so the ecu change timing because in the timing map, timing is related with airflow reading. The safc correction is in percent but if you move the CAS you will change timing by 1-2-3 degrees or more everywhere in the map. With the safc...
