Yeah I'm probably not going to part it out. Although....I bought the car with pretty much everything done to it already, so it wouldnt be as bad of a loss.
The only thing I have done so far is the transmission and clutch.I daily drove my old 1G for 6 months every day and it never let me down...
I think half of the problem is that it is supposed to be my daily driver. (dumb idea i know). Luckily, I get to borrow a truck from work when my car is down but they dont really like when I do that. I think Ive got enough cash saved up to buy a decent little beater/DD. Thinking about picking up...
Thats kind of what I was thinking but I tend to make dumb decisions when I get pissed off lol. I just need some motivation to get this car up and running...again.When its running good and i make a 1st-4th gear pull, I tend to think its the greatest car ever. But when something breaks and...
What would be some legit reasons NOT to part out my car?I really enjoy it when its running good... but lately its been up on the lift more than on the ground.HELP! before I do something I might regret. lol
Im not sure how many inches its dropped exactly. Its riding on Tein coilovers. The way it is set up now the rear tires rub when i hit small bumbs lol very annoying. I need to roll the inner fenders and see if that helps.
Yes the clutch fork clears the cover bolts. I am 99% sure the discs are in the right orientation. I had triple checked them before installation. I honestly can't think of what would cause this. Unless going from a stock flywheel and single disc to a lightweight flywheel and twin disc has...
I bought the standard quartermaster twin disc. I think I told you I had the gear driven QM but I was mistaken. It's the cheaper of the two quartermasters. I evenly torqued the clutch bolts to 24 ft lbs, quartermaster flywheel to 100 ft lbs.Is it possible that after changing from a single to...
Just finished installing a quartermaster twin disc clutch and trying to figure out what is causing this vibration. Basically it's at any speed, but only accelerating or decelerating. If you keep the throttle steady it doesn't vibrate.
Any ideas?
It was fine before the swap . It has to be some...
I used the search and got a few ideas of what the problem could be, but I'd like some more input from you guys.Heres the deal:I just finished up a transmission and clutch swap on my 95' and now the car is only running on 2 cylinders. It is not sparking at all on cylinder numbers two and...
I would check plugs and plug gap. Every few months or so I have to re-gap my plugs. Apparently over time my plug gap likes to open up just enough to make my car get spark blowout. When that happens its always under full boost and causes the car to stutter/hesitate.
I'm more concerned with track times than horsepower so I haven't put too much thought into hp. But let's just say I'm shooting for 400+ to the wheels. Honestly the car feels really strong with its set up now, I'm just looking to get more out of it. I will Definately look into a bigger single...
THanks for the replies. I honestly dont have a certain goal with this car. I basically just want to go faster and keep it streetable, without changing the entire setup.I would be thrilled to run some low 11's with this car. Does anyone think that is unrealistic? Maybe even a 10.99 on a cool...
Hey guys.. Just curious to see what you all think is the restriction in my setup. What to upgrade next? Here's a short mod list:
Built 2.0 6 bolt block, 1g big rods, Mahle 8.5:1 pistons. ARP head studs
SBR ported stage 4 head
HKS 272 cams
Full 3" exhaust
HX35 7 blade turbo, .55 BEP...
Well it looks like I'll have to pull the Trans either way I guess. I did not re-bleed the clutch after re-adjusting.
I'm really close to just ordering a new quartermaster twin disc clutch setup lol
Thanks guys. I will be re-adjusting the master rod today back to stock specs.I will post results later tonight when I finish. I was researching this topic last night and another thing that came up was a bad pedal assembly. I checked mine out and it seems okay. Nothing flexed or moved when i...
Ok, so today I bled the clutch just for the hell of it. Clutch fluid came out black. Anyway, that did not solve the problem. The clutch pedal if not soft at all, it will definately give your left leg a workout in traffic. It feels similar to my ACT 2600 in my old 1G. The clutch grabs hard and...
Hey guys, need some help with my clutch dragging issue.Car is a 95 AWD talon, running a TMZ transmission and south bend clutch. Both were installed by the previous owner and have around 15K miles on them. Unfortunatley, thats all i know about the clutch/trans setup. Im not sure what Pressure...
Heres my old 1G. Not exactly sure what color it was, I think it was repainted before i got it so im not sure if its a factory color or not. Couple friends made fun of me and called it purple but i liked it!
Yes the 85 GN was actually my first car. Saved up 3,300 and bought it on eBay and picked it up in the Bronx NY lol. It was semi-rough but driveable. the 85's were non-intercooled unlike the 86-87's and not nearly as quick. Still a fun car and got tons of compliments on it
22 here but bought my first DSM at 19. Also owned an 85 grand national, 2000 camaro z28, 99 WS6, 89 fox body mustang, audi A4, 80 Chevy Malibu. Turns out both DSM's were the fastest of the bunch. :thumb:
Haha I will tell him. I wouldnt say its mint, but its pretty clean. Bone stock. Looks good from 5 feet away, been sitting in storage for a few years. He just had the stock wheels painted black with the red pinstripe around the lip. He's been saving up for years now to get a cool first car and...
Lol thanks im definately going to get the rust fixed, especialy with winter coming up. I dont feel like I got too bad of a deal, considering my camaro was an automatic with cloth interior and 115K miles . Have you seen how cheap LS1 cars are going for these days? You can pick up a Z28 with an...
Thanks! I will most likely leave it as-is. Just need to find a set of winter wheels and tires now. I dont think my BFG's will be all that great in the snow lol.
Thanks guys. I am 99% sure it's got good springs in it. Its a SBR stage 3 head which comes with dual valvesprings and titanium retainers. It couldnt hurt to check though to be absolutely positive. Ill take the valvecover off this weekend and have a look. I probably wont rev past 7000 anyway...
Thanks I'll go check out a few shops and see what they say about the rust. The recirc port on the intake has been welded shut. I wonder why the previous owner would buy all these high dollar parts but leave the bov vented to the atmosphere? Weird. It idles and drives fine though. Idle is a...
Thanks for the compliments. I was wondering if there was supposed to be fog lights somewhere in the bumper lol. The rust is on my list of things to do. And I'll look into the venting issue, looks like I'll need to buy a whole new bov and cash is low right now :(
Ive got a slowboy racing stage 3 head with good valvesprings and retainers.
Ive also "heard" hks cams do not need to be degreed, but thats just what ive heard.
Awesome thanks for the help. So far I've only spun the car to around 7,000 but it seemed like it was still pulling. I just didnt want to over-rev the car without knowing for sure.
Ill see if I can dig up a picture of the camaro.
Its actually got an eclipse front bumper on it right now, I kind of like the look. Ill check out what a 97 Talon bumper looks like though.Heres a crappy picture of the camaro, and a couple more of the talon.
I just recently aquired my 2nd DSM. This car has HKS 272 cams installed. I was just curious as to what the powerband of the cams are? Ive done a few searches and even looked on the HKS website but it doesnt say what they will rev to.
If it helps my car has a 6 bolt block, Mahle .20 over 8.5:1...
Well, traded the old bolt-on Z28 for a 95 TSI. Loving it so far. Its only my 2nd DSM, so I'm still learning a few things.
Let me know what you think.
Should I go wingless?...Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Ive adjusted the BISS once before, but its possible its backed out due to the freakin poly motor mounts lol. Ill go ahead and check that this week. I read a write up on how to adjust the BISS before...do you really have to use a jumper wire and stuff, or can you just turn the screw?
Got a goofy problem with my car. If i rev the car up real high it dies instead of going back to idle. Also, say im cruising in third gear at over 2000 RPM and let off the gas and push the clutch in, it will also die if i dont get it into the next gear within a second or two.Car idles fine if...
