While the T-stat mounting point is different, all the sensors on the cam gear side went on. Accodring to 1g head swap pages they wouldn't unless I did modifications.
I think I got the wrong head. THe T-stat housing wont line up. Theres no way to put the T-stat housing on the head that we installed. Can anyone tell me what car its from? I assumed that 95-99 heads were the same at the T-stat housingthe one on the block is the newer one (the wrong one?)...
1.. Its not new2.. Theres been COUNTLESS threads (on this and many other forums) and News articles (CNN, MSNBC) on this and other scams... your behind the times.
thanks... thats what kind of answer I was looking for....why is it people would rather spend teh whole thread bitching in 4 or 5 post than to answer wtih 1 helpful post like that.
Instead of the damn arguing you could have just simply said.."yea I did the swap.. I did/didnt have many problems.....be careful when you do "x" step... The magnus/RRE are/are not accurate....but no you got to be a god damn search nazi....Its assholes like you that ruin sites...
I forgive you only because your a Flyers fan.....:) Flyers > Ottowa 400+ Penalty Minutes :thumb:I'm gettin an Esche Jersey here shortly... I gotta find one though. Hard finding Flyers stuff in Los Angeles.I didnt mean to generalize... just meant that I would be slightly embarrassed...
Try RRE's siteTheres also www.turbo4wd.comI think you might have to make the head bolt holes bigger by 1mm. Aparently the 1g's had 13mm bolts and 2gs had 12mm one.
good thing i'm not a search nazithe overhaul should be done with FSM, Haynes or ChiltonsYou have to mod the block some because of using 2g parts on a 1g block.http://www.roadraceengineering.com/2g6boltmotorinstall.htmI wanted to know if its harder or easier than the...
I'm NOT asking for info on how to do the damn swap. I'm asking how difficult it was for those that have done it. I know what I need to do. I have all the info I need. If you dont know or havent done it then dont answer, its a simple concept. aparently you havent. It looks difficult by the...
I'm pissed yall are canadian.. I cant belived that yall boo'ed our national anthem at the Canadian/Bruins game in Montreal the other night... yea I'd be REAL proud of that.
The options I have. Which would be the best option for the $$$ and time96 GST.. blown head gasket1. Rebuild stock 7 bolt motor...
2. Rebuild stock 7 bolt bottom end with 1G head/intake
3. 6 Bolt swap.....with rebuild firstI'm also in CA if that matters.btw heres what...
Thanks for linking me to info I already knew, not what I was looking for. I've printed out all the info from Magnus and RRE. I'm asking about the difficulty for those that have done it themselves. This is my 3rd DSM, I'm not the exact Newbie you might think I am. I dont have time to search...
found a 6 bolt for $300... then get the MachV rebuild kit for $500.
actually the head gasket was still in one piece, no cuts/tears.. When taking the head off 1/2 the bolts came loose WAY too easy. like they werent torqued down properly... the engine has been sitting for a long while.
Just seeing if it would be cheaper/better in the long run to go ahead a swap in a 6bolt, I'd hate to make an engine that looks like this, put alot of money in it to make it run and then walk....plus I dont know what the crank and rods look like yet.... Might not even be worth my time to even...
heres what came out of the oil pan.... close to 2 gallons of oil/coolant and water mix..I got about a half gallon of water out of the radiator and overflow combined..
Recently aquired a 96 GST for $4K with what the previous owner said was a blown motor. Said the valvetrain was redone because of a timing belt skipping a few teeth....2 months later the car died again and been sitting almost a year. The spark plug wires are STUCK in the head. We did...
is it AWD? Sorry, I'm just asking because you just said TSi, those are just FWD.Depends on how different the sizes are. Yes, it could damage the center diff.
I used to when I was 21-22 and had a5.0 Notchback. I haven't gone down to the Philly races in 4 years, after I bought my 96 TSi AWD. I will however. do a light to light race every so often (maybe once a month)
nope, not mad at all. You atleast had respect not to say something insulting, like others I know, because they arent their style.Yea, I'm gonna go with Eibach Pro's and AGX's, but I needed to get the car to pass inspection first. The car failed inspection for all 4 brakes being shot, a...
Why? The front does most of the stopping anyway. You dont need that big of caliper back there.Anyway, no it wont. The rotors are totally different (spacing reasons), can't hook up the parking brake and other minor things. I just did my rear brakes Tuesday
Its not a major problem I'm having, well I hope its not. I'm just used to quick revving motors while the cars sitting still.. give it gas the RPMs go up and straight back down. The engine in the 90 revs up pretty quick but its slow to come back down. What should I look for to fix it...
Jezus.. yoru NOT gonna fit a 265 tire under there. 235 is MAX unless you come out past the wheel well about 2". Then you'll just look like a mexican lowrider
