you should do a compression check. when i had my 1992 talon i was having similar issues. it turned out that my piston rings were "washed" meaning, that the piston ring to cylinder wall gap was too large and gasoline was seeping down into the oil pan beside the pistons. you should check your oil...

if you want that design to work better you'll need to notch the socket and sacrifice it. when you compress the springs the "keepers" that hold the retainers in will pop off. you don't want to lose them.. so.... with the notched socket it will allow you to insurt a small magnet into the gap...

I haven't had this problem... But the first thing i would do is hand check all of the wires that are in the engine bay. If it has anything to do with heat, that's where you need to check. A wire could be exposed and when the casing gets warm enough it could droop and hit metal causing it to...
