I added a front carbon fiber vent to get more air to the radiator (fmic blocks the bottom opening) got a lower temp 180 thermostat and I placed duct tape to seal the side gap between my mishimoto slim fans and the oem radiator and (*knock* on wood) the temp gauge hasn't gone past the middle...
Pictures please!Looks legit; I am sure it brakes like a dream now.I love the front vent you made for the fmic. How did youmake it, an do you have more pics of ityou could post? and did you cut the side for the piping?
Great times! From the look of your engine bay you have done your work! Clean and quality parts; not bad!Any overheating issues? What radiator/fans setup do you have?
So I had a new thermostat but in, but the two mishimoto slinking fans: only the one on the passé get side turns on for cooling. The one on the driver side only turns on (now both pulling air though) when really bad, by which point it is usually too late or slightly overheating.Anyone know a...
So I am at a local shop getting an alignment dne and they said they can completely remove the thermostat to help the system from overheat g. Has anyone else done this?
So I had the fans fixed and rewired so both pulling air through the radiator now. So instead of pulling air from the burning hot exhaust manifold towards the radiator, the air is pulled from outside the bay and blows towards the manifold. Also I had the coolant flushed and replaced, added...
Hey thanks for the quick response and tips. Do you run both fans as pulling? How many other people do vs one fan push one fan pull?Have you pulled the seal yet? I ask as I live in Boston so part if me would be worried about water and snow getting in there.
Hi I searched and checked under FAQ but couldn't find an answer.I bought some mishimoto slim line aftermarket fans. I have a EVO III 16g and the top heat shield over exhaust manifold.1st question: push pull combo is best, but right now the fan is pushing air towards the radiator so pulling...
Well cheap stigma aside, the Evolution is holding value and has proven to be reliable and a top performer at any price.Sometimes you do have to "pay to play". If you don't like the price, don't buy it. But if you don't find it at the price you like, the market might be higher than what you...
:hmm::toobad:If I owned a 20 year old Corolla, perhaps a maybe. But in a performance engine that runs warm, and boost? Not a chance. FUll synthethic (new) all day everyday. :hellyeah::thumb:
Where does link say 330? It may be near that (crank is probably over 300,) but with the automatic and AWD drivetrain loss, 220whp seems like it is on par, correct?
I ordered it from DSMLINK directly for an automatic GSX. How does one go about changing it from the '5 spd setup' to an automatic...
If you are sold on it, then search for a quality used one, or buy a junked one and literally have a few extra thousand saved to replace/repair improve what you need.Welcome, there is a wealth of knowledge and advice here. Good luck!:rocks:
I have the IPT transmission and high stall converter.I also have dsmlink v3 lite, and a td05 evo III turbo. The car builds full boost by 3600-3800 rpms.It as taken near a year on the work but it has come along.Don't cut corners: you will cost yourself more money and downtime in the longrun.
*UPDATE*better late than never: Here is a video of the car being dyno tuned:
YouTube - 2G Eclipse GSX w/16 G turbo getting tuned at Dent Sport garage:thumb:
Autos have some issues reported with the overdrive going bad. Mine did, and I am getting an IPT fully built transmission as we speak.Someone else can correct me, bu taking off the od only gives the car three gears, which can overheat the tranny, but not sure. But yeah the car would rev, not...
Yeah their marketing team did not due their research.A lot of companies use out of business automakers' cars to be in their videos:Mercury cougar in nationwide ads, pontiac debadged g6 in american family insurance ads,and a talon (with green tape over the "T" and "N"...
My GSX is supposed to be my winter beater. It is getting a brand new IPT transmission done high stall torque converter too; it should hopefully be done before the snow comes!
LOL
gofer,Thanks for the help and I can see how you got your name.I did find only that one pic when I searched google. I found no pictures when I searched THIS SITE.On most forums, enthusiasts with a shared interest in a particular model can share thoughts or assist each other...
Chief,I was asking to see if any MEMBERS had a picture of this hood on their car, as I could then ask them for pictures of it and Pm them their thoughts on the hood. :thumb:Appreciate the pic you found though. Back on topic, does anyone have this hood, or some more pictures of it? When...
Hey everyone! So I am looking at buyign this hood from someone, but they don't have a picture of it on an Eclipse:I have searched for one, but can't find one. So does anyone have a picture of this hood on a 2G Eclipse? Thanks!:thumb:
What do you mean by the transfer ratio being different? Would getting the 95's transfer case solve this? :hmm:So if I get the full transmission, torque converter, and transfer case, would I be set? :thumb:
So I will need the transfer case. Will the Transmission shift well, or will it be off?Did you have a thread for this? I am thinking of getting the transmission, but need to make sureA) IT would bolt up and work
B) If it would work, what I would need. All input appreciated...
Like the title states (and I couldn't find the answer by searching) would it fit? I need to know as I might move on some parts. Is it the same transmission part number or different, and any other pieces I would need? Thanks guys!:rocks:
Congratulations! WHat a fantastic showing! Keep representing Mitsubishi for us!Is there any chance you could post up a mod list, or what parts from ETS are helping out?You know, curiosity and inspiration and never hurt! ;)
I did! and it has been a blast! :rocks::p:hellyeah::cool:I just picked up my 97 GSX for that reason: Just had it tuned (video in link)
DSM Forums - 2G 97 Eclipse GSX with 16g on dynoOn a conservative baseline tune it made 220 WHP!:D Best of all, it holds full boost through every...
Don't touch it. Step away from the vehicle. As someone who had the car overheat from just a punctured coolant hose, you don't want to deal with an entire failing system. Just my 2 cents. But you will do what you do. Good luck!
I own a Evo X MR and my 97 Eclipse GSX is my project car/ daily driver. To the op: yeah the new mustang GT 5.0 is nice, but look it up: base model costs 38k no joke.So yeah newer cars have more research and technology in them, and you get what you pay for. What is awesome is to run a 13 year...
So the car seem to have sone stutering or slight hesitation when holding speeds between 40-50 mph.Is this to be expected with having the car tuned and running more psi? What psi levels are you guys running on your 4g63 Eclipses?
it is getting tuned at A good shop with dyno who tunes mostly rally: STIs and EVOs . I am having them tune with the dsmlink. Thanks, I will pm ya. It sounds like it is worth tuning now and re tuning with some fuel system upgrades. What fuel system upgrades did you do? Which ones would you...
So I have searched and need your help:I have an appointment tomorrow to get my 97 Eclipse GSX tuned. Two questions:1) what boost levels are appropriate for my car's set-up? ( See mods below)2) any major notes adjustments I need to make?I ordered the dsmlink V3 lite and EPROM...
simple and best answer:Have a shop or a mechanic you trust look it over. Most good performance shops, even garages will do a look over for cheap (even a local pepboys will do it for $50,) well worth confirming a several thousand dollar investment, or saving you from thousands in headaches and...
So for fog light replacements I went with a small set of PIAA fog lights. You can see them in the pic below:and them on:They do a good job to splash light on the road, which I am looking forward to come snow season.Oh, and for those wondering, I have switched out the projector...
I currently have a white 97 Eclipse GSX, and if I was to repaint it, it would be blue, perhaps the EVO VIII blue. I think you should go for it; it would look so good, especially with a carbon fiber hood.
I have tried googling for the offset for that size, but for a 17X8 it looks to be +40 or +43 offset, so I am guessing in the same neighborhood. So do you think the Kosei t1s 16x8.5 will do the following:1) Fit a 225/50/16 tire?
2) Will fit with that tire on a 2g Eclipse without rubbing...
So I have a 97 Eclipse GSX currently running the stock 16' wheels.I bought a set of Kosei 16' 8.5 rims. So my ? - Will I be able to fit a 225/50/16 tire on these rims on my car? Without rubbing?I looked through the tire sticky on our forum, and I have googled other forums who say it is...
Yeah the projectors came with the car when I bought it. Not my taste, so they are coming off. They should be posted as 'for sale' in a week. :DI was thinking of running some flex ducting from under the fogs to the radiator. The front mount intercoolers are great, but the radiator gets almost...
Update:So I just got the stock OEM lights with black housing. I will be putting them in next week. Also, I got a DSM link and eprom and am getting the GSX professionally dyno tuned in a week! Hoping the car holds strong, and makes some respectable and reliable numbers.
