In a 1g the ABS is controlled by the ECU. The ECU in the car is a 1990 EPROM ECU. 1990's didn't have ABS so the ABS isn't active unless you get DSMLink or replace the 1990 chip with one from a 1991-1994 with ABS. But doing so you may have to do some other swaps with wires or parts.Sorry been...

Do a compression check on the engine. Could have very little and not high enough to sustain it. Would explain the oil in cylinders and intake hose blow by from bad rings.

I used a 6" crowbar I bought from homedepot. Put the 90 degree elbow in seal hole edge and gently twisted the crow foot behind seal and it popped out. Though this was on driver side and had her limited access due to the xfer case being in my way.

I'd prefer the method of removal and install that mentioned in the Vfaq. Those kits from the autoparts store have a tendacy ruin parts. Sharp edges and such can gouge parts. If you use one buy new so it's meant to the way it was built.

Had same issue with mine. Was getting I think code 14 air flow sensor reading. At an idle the sensor was seeing airflow below it's threshold and threw a CEL. As soon as there was more air flowing past the sensor it went away. When it dropped from gear into neutral it would sometime die as well...

I picked up the STM from a fellow member here that recieved an extra. I like the STM one because it has the OEM stubby shaft and not some solid bolt like the cheap sets. It's decently priced to. 2-3 times the cheap ebay ones, but under $60.
