I have the same exact setup through Tim and it has been great for me in my 1g with a 20g. It does not have a stiff peddle and it was good in traffic. I would get another Southbend if this one ever goes.
Although I have a 1G, I could attest for the quality of the 3" punishment racing downpipe. It is very nice quality and I have not had any problems with it. I would recommend them.
I would honestly keep looking. I picked up a authentic MHI evo III for 200 last year. I had an ebay 16g on my laser when I first bought it. It ran fine and there was no play in it when i sold it, but my friends and myself all noticed the difference after bolting up the true MHI. And I was always...
Alright I have one for you guys. While I was away at college, they had a car club, so decided to see what it was all about.Member - "Oh thats an old dsm"
Me - "Yeah its a 90, manufacturing date is older than me. But it gets its job done. What do you drive?"
Member - "Well I don't have a car...
Yes I agree. Definitely take the block to be machined and go from there. Cause in the time you take to find a good bare block you could have it back from the machinist.
The owner states this exhaust manifold is an authentic dnp manifold that he had jet black coated. Not sure, so thought I would see if any of you guys can help me out.
I have always had a thing for srts. One of my good friend holds the stock turbo record and the shop he works at has the top 5 speed cars. Look at Realtune Performance in Ohio. Really cool guys and they do very good work.
Whatever you do, DON"T rush yourself into things. Everyone wants to go fast, but maintenance beforehand is key. If you keep up with your DSM, it'll reward you for a long time. Once the maintenance is done move onto what was posted above.
The punishment racing one hugs the oil pan quite nicely i think. The bolts for the flange where the downpipe meets the O2 housing sucks, but i used a stubby wrench and a socket with a long extension and it wasn't too bad.
I got my thermostat from stm. I'll try the cap since mine is the original. =P I mean i'm only using my hands as a reference but I haven't felt the engine that toasty before. The temp gauge on the dash is normal but who knows on that guyOh and when you start the car there is no cel. However a...
Well the engine got rebuilt this winter with all new components. It has a new mishimoto radiator and fans. I have the fans running off of a switch, but the car is still running real hot. It has a new thermostat and I've bleed the cooling system of air bubbles. I triple checked the timing. What...
For sure get a different pump. You can get an evo 8 pump for cheap and you can always package deal it with the evo injectors. That is the set-up i'm running.
well i mean once i let off the gas it goes to 22.0 which is infinite on the lc-1, but to recover the air fuels drop real low like 10-11 and then settles at 14.7ish
Well i am currently running a 16g at 18psi with a 2g maf, injen intake, turbo xs bov (recirculated), 3in turbo back, 560 injectors, with a safc2 and innovate wideband. Air fuels under light load are between 14.6-15.0, under boost 12.1-12.8. Whenever i shift though, the air fuels drop to about...
hey, I was wondering how your install went. Looking to buy a FMIC soon, and looking into the install process. and how are you liking the punishment racing kit?
i have the same problem. I have a new recirculated bov though.
my mods would be a small 16g, ported 2g exhaust manifold, O2 dump, evo 9 injectors, safc 2, 2g maf, turbo xs h34 bov, and a hallman mbc. I'm thinking its either my IACV or a bad boost leak somewhere. am i on the right path?
does the plug have two nipples on it, cause it maybe the boost control solenoid. On my 1g that is what splits from the harness with. I unplugged mine and took the vacuum lines off, but i have a manual boost controller
well according to your mods in your profile, use your safc to richen up the idle a bit. For the fluctuating vacuum, check your lines and see if you have any pinches or sharp bends in it. I know with the two different boost gauges I had, my autometer would go from 15-16 on a cold start up, but...
The bov is a turbo xs h34 and yes it is recirculated. my tune from the 1g maf and 2g maf are totally different. I am using a 2g to 1g adapter so i didn't have to mess with any of the wiring. well the wideband will go full lean when i do let off, but it goes rich for a little before going lean...
Well I am wondering if my 2g maf is bad. I have been running the stock 1g intake rubber pipe with the 1g maf. I put on a Recirculated Injen Intake with a 2g maf. Made sure no boost leaks, idles at 750, and all the hose clamps are tight. Mods are a small 16g, 560cc injectors, manual boost...
Don't listen to whoever told you that amount. That is ridiculous. Get your maintenance done and then you'll be worry free, whenever you go to mod once you have the funds and the will to
They are both right around the same price, so i was wondering what people were thinking with experience. I have friends that run both of them, but never really say anything good or bad about them.
Hey I'm looking to get a wideband soon. I was wondering what you guys would recommend running. I was debating between the aem uego or the innovate lc-1.
well looking at your situation, buying a t-25 off the forum would be the cheapest and quickest way. If you would like some more power than go with the 14b or the 16g. there will be some extra down time, but the gains in power and potential are worth while
With the brands, there is more precision in making them. Some flow better than others. Some thicker than others. And then the quality of materials used. Really comes down to what the car is gonna be used for, the temperatures it'll see, and the money you wanta spend on it.
well if its the 2g gsx that you list, you are running a t-25 stock. It sounds like the oil seals in the turbo went. you can find those for pretty cheap on here. I would also take that intercooler off whenever you replace the turbo and clean it
i'd go for the gasket maker, that way you always have some whenever you'll need a gasket again. i use black rtv with the gasket. haven't had any problems
Well it depends on how much power you wanta make and what you want to do with it. I would look into fuel upgrades, turbos, fmic, exhaust manifold, O2 housing, turboback exhaust and tuning software.
it really depends on your budget and if you need to drive that car soon. if you need that car to be up and running soon i would go the 1g route because it'll be less down time. but if time is not in play, upgrade and you won't have to worry about it later.
I would pull your plugs anyways. it takes like 5 minutes. and it'll just be one less thing for it to be or you could be lucky and that will be the only thing. what did you gap your plugs to? and what kind are you running
i would go mechanical. I have seen the electric one go bad pretty quick, both autometer and prosport. as long as you tighten all the lines done, you won't worry about oil leaking in your cabin.
unless you are running on a budget go for the 650cc and tune around it. otherwise evo injectors can be picked up for pretty cheap. there is also a thread made recently about this topic. the guy was wondering whether to get the hard piping or get a fmic.
I have been running brembo blanks and have been doing great. I honestly would steer clear of drilled and slotted rotors as i've heard they are prone to cracking. If i did get anything i would just get slotted. I think it is EBC that make a black faced rotor with silver in the slots that looks...
