I was going around the car tearing out the interior in preparation to paint it and then I got to the trunk area. I'm having a tough time taking the back panels out. (the ones that include the speaker grills especially) Do you have to remove the back seats or something to get to them or is...
Correct me if I am wrong, but I heard once (maybe on the speed channel?) that if an exhaust and especially the tip is too big you start to lose pressure in the system and you can actually get a backup and lose performance. Is this true? If it is, what is too big for these DSM's?
Sell, sell, sell! Just buy a GSX. Anything is possible with endless amounts of money, but I am to assume you don't have the old money tree in the backyard, so yeah...
That car still has some life in it. Sounds like a good price, expecially if it is still running sound. I agree with you, just get it and take all that money you just saved and look into a rebuild...
I own streetterror.com, but I don't use it. If you had a halfway decent site to go up there I would give it to you, as long as I can still store my stuff on the server. (songs and such) Lemme know if any of you are interested.
Woah woah woah, wait a second, I am almost positive I have seen threads to the contrary on this board. I hope I am wrong, though. Hey, all you wisemen, lets get the end-all answer here! ;)
Does anyone have a marriage counselor for these two? :pWith any car, you're going to have the people that kind of give the rest of that car's owner's a bad name. Let's face it, most gen. Civics and esp. 2G DSM's get riced out all the time. But there is also always going to be the person...
Somehow this seems to escape mention on the sites I visit, or maybe I am just missing it. Is it easy/possible to throw a turbo from the GS-T on the 1.8 L SOHC engine, or are there too many other variables to change, like moving the intake and exhaust around and stuff. Or are there issues about...
It is all about neutral... pull up, give him a few revs, and let him feel that nice meaty hum coming from your exhaust. He will get it, and if he isn't chicken, you're off to the races.
OK, another question, how hard is it to mount a turbo on this engine? Is it even possible? I might make a junkyard run and see if I can find one, but I don't know if my engine can handle it. Or am I going to end up spending more on mounts and rerouting the exhaust and stuff than i will spend...
Or a third option, put crappy parts in your 1G and install them yourself just so you can learn a little, and wait until you graduate college so your parents can make good on that promise to buy you a 2G GSX.I think I know what I am gonna do. Thanks you guys!
The more I come to this board and become interesting in tuning, the more I realize that I really have a lot to learn. Looking at all of these terms and not knowing what half of them mean can be really dicouraging. So anyway, what I want to know from all you experienced tuners out there is...
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't complaining at all. I'm just not too excited about going back into the process of buying and selling cars, but if it is in the name of better performance, it is worth it. Thanks for the tips, though!
My theory is that people just tend to keep these cars more. There aren't many soccer moms using 2G DSM's as daily drivers. And if you think finding one of these is hard, you should look for a Toyota Supra.
The 2G will forever have that Fast and Furious stigma that comes with it. It kind of takes away from the fun of having one if every time you go down your street some spoon-fed kid in an automatic Honda Civic wants to race you.
I just started driving and for my first car I was lucky enough to get a 1g DSM! Problem is, I just started getting into the tuning aspect of it, too, and I have one goal: to beat my best friend's 260 HP Grand Prix in the quarter. Is it even possible to do so with the 1.8 L SOHC engine without...
