Here is a crank log from today. The battery sat on a charger overnight and was showing 100% charge. I even tried starting it a few times with my jump box attached just in case. Still shows insane voltage drop during cranking. I already replaced one battery after the car sat because the...

4+5. I'm not sure what is causing this. The battery is slightly low due to repeatedly trying to start the car over the last few weeks to try and diagnose the issue so it is sitting on the charger now. However this issue was present even when the battery was brand...
I have a automatic JDM VR-4 that I just can seem to get to start. The car was all stock ran fine but sat for about 8 months while I was doing some work on it and getting married and having a kid. Now, I can not seem to get it to start and I am not sure why. While the car was sitting the...
You don't need to measure the hose. AN sizes are based on 16ths, so if fitting takes a 3/4 wrench, it is 12/16, so it's a 12AN fitting. Something that takes a 1/2 wrench is 8/16, so it is an 8AN fitting, etc..So unless it takes a 7/16 wrench, it's not a 7AN fitting.
Yes, brand new from ExtremePSI. The crank however, I did buy from another member. When I got them though, the only way I had checked to see if they were correct was by checking the wrist pin size, which was correct. On the plus side, the shop gave me a hell of a price on the motor. I would...
Yeah, it's easy to think that, but I'm sure that if they see this post, they will think "That is exactly why I don't let people bring it their own junk." Not everyone would accept that the shop isn't to blame, and someone running around talking about how the shop screwed your motor up when the...
Nope, the shop that I believe you are referring to refused to build the motor unless I purchased only the parts they wanted me to use, and only if I purchased through them.At this point, I'm just going to go by the shop tomorrow, and bring it home. It either gets run or needs a crank, no...
I'd prefer not to name the shop publicly, as the guy has been pretty cool about everything so far, when he could have just given the motor back and gone "not my problem", but if you really want to know, I'll gladly let you know through PM the name of the shop. It's not a large local shop, but...
Well, I had that thought as well, and I asked the shop to verify that the rods measured as above to confirm we had 6 bolt rods, he said he had already thought of that as well, and that he had an OEM 7 bolt rod there that he checked as well, and that it was closer to 1 clearance, which makes...
I have a short block currently being built at a local machine shop, but there seems to be a problem with the rod side clearance being way out of spec. The parts being used are as follows:6 bolt block
G4CS 100mm crank
Manley 6 bolt rods
Wiseco stroker pistons
King Bearings
ARP main studs...
Yeah, I honestly haven't been able to pick out my favorite part, there is just so much to choose from, but if I had to choose, i think my favorite aspect of itis when you zoom in to show TSI and TURBO lightly dusted into the hood everywhere, the mark of a true Olympian.
I had very similar issues recently, that I kept bugging Brett (@GST with PSI ) with. He kept bitching about my TPS adjustments, and I kept ignoring him saying that it was fine, because I already adjusted in via the adjustment tool. I kept assuming it must have been an O2 issue, as it simply...
Looking good man. My only complaint would be exactly what I told you earlier. It feels like you're just making another 1837. I know you like your red, but I'd like to see you do something different, something to help set it apart from the other one beyond the JDM body parts and the wheels...
You don't need to connect the bottom nipple.Looking at your profile, I wouldn't expect you to really hear the BOV. You have no boost controller, so you are running stock boost, on a recirculated BOV, and the stock soft piping.Even vented, I wouldn't expect you would hear much unless you...
I was running a pretty similar setup, except with a 1g head, and a 255, and when I went to a BC272 setup (which the cam cards actually list as a 268/272 setup), it for sure had alot more up top. I'd say the purchase was worth it for sure. Totally safe for stock valvetrain too, so if you don't...
This same thing happened to me once, I let it sit in PB blaster for a bit, gave it a light tap with a hammer a few times, then spun it right out with vice grips.
This is very similar to how I mounted mine, except mine sits a tad bit higher, and is mounted directly to the bolts for the bumper, sturdy as hell, and yeah, pretty cheap. The rest of the $50-$100 for me came in the form of needing to buy half a dozen new t bolt clamps, as well as an NPT...
The one I bought and installed about 2 years ago still had some issues, but most were pretty easy to overcome:- The BOV flange leaks on mine, unless RTV is used to help it seal. I went through several gaskets thinking they were the issue, or that I had not tightened the BOV enough. Under no...
You said YOU just put V3 in? I'd make sure the chip is in all the way, and in the correct orientation. If that all checks out, I'd give ECMTuning a call and make arrangements to send the ECU in and have them check it out.
Right. The only real difference I would anticipate is if you planned on running the BEP housing on the HX35 and using an exhaust manifold with a DSM flange, you probably won't be able to do so now, and will need to invest in a twin scroll manifold and an external wastegate setup.
I'm originally from Myerstown, and I still have family that lives there, so I do come up to visit, so if you ever needed some help with anything, I'd be happy to come by and see if I could help out.
Sure, but you will have to put an decent amount of work into it. You'll need a new exhaust manifold, you'll need to block off the current turbo water lines somehow, you'll need a custom oil feed that will probably require the use of a restrictor, and a custom oil drain.Depending on the size...
If they went to a boost controller, and the boost controller was removed, then you need to replace them with a single line that joins the ends each hose is connected to.One hose should be connected to a boost source somewhere, probably in the lower intercooler piping or on the compressor...
You'll need to go pick up a timing light, or see if you can rent one somewhere. I know that at least the AutoZone by my house will not rent them out.You will probably also want to make sure you have some whiteout or nail polish on hand to mark the crank pulley. After that, just follow these...
People always say the drilled & slotted rotors will crack, but I have them on 3/5 of the cars we have, and I have not had one crack yet, even with my daily stop and go routine in the Capital Beltway area.I'm not saying that it can't happen, just that I think it gets blown out of proportion...
This is really a question that has been answered a billion times before, you'd be better off searching and reading all the other threads that exist on the subject. The short answer though is that the important things to making power reliably:1. Maintenance - You want to know the engine is in...
I have cross drilled & slotted Power Stop rotors on my Mustang, they are holding up as well as any other rotors I have ever run. I'd say they were definitely worth the money I spent on them, and I would definitely buy them again. I'd probably avoid using their pads though, and stick to brands...
Yes, that is what I was asking.A few things we need to cover first though:1. A good condition stock 4g63 will handle 400 hp reliably on a good tune, you don't need a built motor to hit this goal.2. A 16g almost assuredly is not going to net you 400hp.If you are looking for low-mid...
Cam recommendations are going to depend on your spring choice. If you plan on running stock springs, stick with a cam that has better duration, but close to stock lift. It's also going to depend on where you are looking to make power, and what turbo you are running. There isn't going to be...
Not at all.The OEM valves are plenty strong enough to make 400hp, plus alot more.If you are dead set on spending money on valves, I certainly would not spend the money to buy "stronger valves" without also paying the machine shop to fit +1mm valves to it, with a nice 3 or 5 angle valve job...
https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/maffrequencylimitsECM Tuning says the 2g MAF is good to about 50 lbs/min. That's more than I've ever seen any 16g flow, even when being maxed out. No way 16 or 17 psi should come even remotely close to hitting fuel cut.
That looks like a universal ebay kit. That intercooler kit, and maybe even the manifold are probably ok, but I wouldn't put the rest of it anywhere near my car. Hell, you can buy a 420a turbo manifold and a universal IC kit for less than $200 on ebay anyway, so unless you think you are going...
I called ISP a few years ago about getting some work done on my first 1G and was told "We don't really do DSM work anymore." The reason cited was "They are usually poorly maintained, and hard to work on, with seized and broken bolts everywhere."As for some of those shops you originally...
I'm not sure where you guys are looking, but you can still find MK3's in pretty decent shape for a good price, you just have to be a little more patient. We picked up our White 89 Targa Turbo Automatic for $2400.Here is a pic that Brett (GSTWithPSI) snapped when my girlfriend brought it out...
They definitely are not still in business. Should you ever run into any of them, I'd caution you to not let them near your car, and certainly not to hand over any money. There are more than a few people that would love to know what happened to Mat and where he can be found, along with their...
Really nice job man. Seeing this thing first hand when you picked it up, it was really bordering on complete shitbox territory. To take it from that to what you see in the pictures now, and in such a short time frame, is damn impressive.
