I had an instance the other week I'm not proud of, but you'll probably all get a laugh out of it. Whether or not it was just a mechanic's troubleshooting fluke, in the end I just looked kind of stupid...I had put my stock 2g headers on craigslist for $30, which didn't take long for someone to...
I just got this belt in today, and it's WAY too short. I'll go down to my garage to get the actual length for you guys, but it should be known that this belt will NOT fit, by any means. :(
So I finally hooked up Link and got a log in neutral, just revving up. I'm trying to find either a base tune to save to my ECU, or better yet, to figure out what I need to change to make this graph look better. You can see around 4500rpm that things start to go crazy, and everything sputtered as...
Diagnosed with schizotypal PD when I got barred for yay when I was 14. Best thing for me after I left inpatient treatment, was to find a mentor that I could trust, and build a confident relationship with. I ended up graduating when I was 16, and now I've got a wife with a baby on the way. Things...
I made the order about four days ago, and am awaiting its delivery. I will be sure to post back with my findings. Should be here within the week hopefully
I've actually got the same issue; I've got a '95 evo III motor in my 2g, and haven't been able to find the right belt for the power steering. Let me know if you find the part number for it!- their website says "Orders to Europe and America take between 7 and 12 working days depending upon...
it's always a daunting task. I just had a co-worker who came to me with her cobalt because her heater core needs replacing. I suppose it's important to know, and it's tedious to work with, but I'm really glad that I know how to do it now that I've tried it a few times.- and thanks Josh for the...
So, I'm not exactly the most savvy HVAC guy, and I don't know where these plugs go to? If someone can identify what they are, and where to find their match, it would be grrrrrreat! They're located underside of the dash on the passenger side. This is where the wires are located atYou...
Haha, just realized you're from the 907. Good luck with shipping; I remember the pain of shipping everything while living in Sitka. Our ideal vacation was a ferry to Juneau to hit up COSTCO.
I discourage about 99.99% of engine bays that have been painted differently than the exterior... but this one looks bangin :thumb: that blue looks like it's glowing.
I may just snag up some of the piping off a donor at the junkyard next time I go, and see if I can mangle them to work somehow... dunno when that will be, though.
Heat index has been upwards 120* here in Virginia; a huge change from my home in Alaska. About this time last year, I was in the middle east, which was hot, but not as humid and gross as this. Blah...
So I'd like to clean up the engine bay; I've done very minor wire tucks for the time being, but I'd like to do something about the refrigerant lines that border the driver side of the engine bay. I need to keep these lines, but my question is, has anybody simply moved them around to hide them...
The ECU wouldn't matter with the starter turning over. It does with the MPI/Fuel relays, however. Have you checked your starter relay to see the sending voltage from it? check out the electrical user guide; if you don't have it, you can find it on Scribd. So for now, don't worry about your...
Their website looks promising; did you go to school there?I'd like to hear a lot of personal experiences with these places. Engine building would definitely be under consideration..
That's one of the reasons I'm hesitant to dip my feet in the water; I used to love working on computers until I started working as an Information systems tech, and now I hate it. So I'm just testing the waters for the time being, and seeing what's out there, because I know what it's like to...
I've been considering making automotive work more than just a hobby, and was wondering what degrees and certifications I can get in the automotive industry. I have background certifications with COMPTIA and Microsoft, but I'm interested in what's out there in the way of R&D and automotive...
Understood; having a few extra hands is always good. The worst part for me was when I re-assembled everything back together, and put the dash back in. After all was back together, I found a flapper for the inside of the heater box, outside the car; so I had to take everything back out again, to...
Did you get all of the 1/2" bolts holding the air boxes to the firewall? There are a few on the bottom in the back that you need to get to. You need to pull the heater core air box pretty hard to get it off of the wall, and free from the rest of the boxes. If you need to, pull between the other...
When I first attempted to pull out the dash, I tried following that tech article, but like you said, it's sort of hard to follow without the pictures. It ends up just being a hunt for bolts and screws that hold everything in place, so I'll try to break it down into shorter steps.1. Remove the...
Got this in an email from a buddy at work:Here are some interesting facts about F1 Cars
1. An F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly; it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!
2. F1 cars have over a kilometer of cable linked to about 100 sensors...
+1 on use of an EZ out. Be really careful if you do this though, that you're doing it at a perfect vertical angle, otherwise you could drill through the block. I've seen this before, and it doesn't end well.
Wow, thanks a lot for the information guys. I'll probably just try to contact someone here on the marketplace. As for the inspection, I think I'm throwing in the towel, and I'm going to re-register my vehicle in my home-state, Alaska, to avoid inspection. Thanks for the help, you guys have given...
When I got the car, it didn't have a power steering belt, I was driving without; otherwise I would. Do most DSMs use just the V belt? or do they normally use the multi-v?
With the Eclipse finally running again, everything is nearly pieced back together. The only issue now is the air compressor and power steering, to pass inspection in Virginia. For the power steering belt, I went to Autozone and asked them for the belt, vehicle specific for a 97 eclipse GST...
Well, if you're certain you're getting spark, and air, but are concerned about fuel, I think we all know the first place to look. Once you can confirm your fuel is going, make sure that your CAS is calibrated correctly, using a timing light. Do you have a green or black top CAS?
It sounds like you may be experiencing some power surges, possibly from your battery or your alternator. Did any of your other lights pulse (ie. Headlights, cabin lights, etc.)? Have you checked the load reading of your battery on a multimeter? It may be a good idea to take off your alternator...
I know it's been a minute since I've posted, but I wanted to say; I feel like an idiot not being able to take out the heater core at first. I ended up yanking the whole heater box out of the dash and tearing it apart, before I realized that there are two small screws that hold the heater core to...
Alright, with a little patience and insight, I was able to get the whole unit jostled loose. I drained the coolant and disconnected the tubing through the firewall to the heater core. I tried pulling the core out of the heater box, but it seems pretty stuck in there. Do I have to disassemble the...
So, the heater core needs to be replaced, and I've got the dash removed. I've got the two bolts and two screws that retain assembly on top removed, as well as the topside of the heating box. I'm a little stuck right now, as to how to reach the heater core at this point. Do I need to remove the...
I DID IT!!! I finally got the car started after about a year! I was getting everything but spark, and traced the wire from the ECU all the way to the CAS, where one of the wires had cracked. I still wasn't getting any spark, so I tested for power at both the power transistor and the coil packs...
Hmm, no responses. Well, today I tried applying power with a 30A fuse to the power transistor and the coil packs according to the electric manual, but the fuse burnt out leaving the wires hot.
Note: The wires got hot, but the power transistor was properly grounded. Again, I've already tested...
Yeah, it seems a little shady, but the guy I bought it from didn't know. Figured it might be worth the cost, especially if it was an EPROM. It seems to work fine, so I won't be too concerned about the longevity of it. Appreciate the help though guys!
I don't think it is. I believe that it's just the cover from an ECU that was EPROM. It has the serial ID: JE331B719C, and doesn't contain this chip. Could I be wrong?
