All that seems to be spot on with maybe the exception of the coil pack. There is one coming out of the injector harness near injector #2 that is currently plugged in there unless I am missing a second coilpack plug location...? Also the starter wire, is there a pigtail for the signal wire near...
Picked up a 2ga that has had the motor rebuilt but the install was never completed.
I'm just wondering if I can get some suggestions on where a few of these plug go. It's a 1995 TSi AWD/Automatic. 2 of them come out of the harness with the injector wiring, 2 come out of the main harness on the...
Everywhere I have looked for the past 3 months has been sold out, does anyone know of a supporting vender that still carries them? or a non-supporting vendor that has them? (i'd rather buy from a supporting vendor) and also, a few months back I seen a custom front roll stop, I think Paul...
Yeah, If I can't find anybody in the anchorage/peninsula area that wants the Shell + Transmission I'm just going to rebuild the engine and have it as a DD, might open up a more aggressive approach to finishing my 91 tsi awd auto build.
:thumb:
I would check with DSMGraveyard, or else go through the classifieds on here, someone might have them in their huge list of parts for sale after a build. If i see what you're looking for, i'll PM you a link to it.
It's good to see you've still got the ambition to see to it your car gets finished, but from one DSM'er to another, don't over-do it man, Your Health > Dsm's health. :thumb: Rock on brother, We're all pulling for you to make a fast recovery!
There is a supporting vender here on tuners "carbon-hoods" That was advertising the same hood + a lot more CF exterior parts through that brand/others, and people seemed to like them, along with the replacement doors+hatches. I think the OEM CF components look amazing + they do lighten up the...
I believe you unplug your stock TCU and plug in the shift box, it will shift at full line pressure, but honestly, I would be hesitant to do this on a stock transmission, unless of course you only want to use it for the occasional 1/4 mile pass. But that is my opinion, if you want a true...
^^ True ^^ But my question is, when did it become cool to be towed? I remember my first tow, it was kind of like a walk of shame. I must have missed something when I dozed off during Too Fast Too Furious. ;) Just kidding, to each their own. :p
I considered it, along with a re-stalled Torque Converter, however I really wanted it to remain a streetable car that wasn't a pain to go uptown to grab a rockstar/pack of smokes lol. :thumb:
Well, you'll notice more gain off the simple things, go to the build path's. Intake/exhaust first, the most noticeable gain comes from enabling the car to INHALE and EXHALE, definantly follow the "stage 0"-"stage 1" etc. and as far as the money issue, it's best to wait and save up and get the...
I also agree with them ^^ get it all set up, but afterwords, to get any real use out of the 16g you're going to want upgrade from 450cc's, and IMHO getting an afpr is just preventative maintenance once you really start a build, the factory fpr is kind of a hit and a miss, some people never have...
Just wanted to stop in and give a good review on the IPT transmission paired with the Translab shift kit, this was my first mod to my 1991 tsi awd, the guy that did the rebuild kit + shift kit install worked for chrystler for 30 years, he was the guy who was pulling out transmissions under...
My motto is do it right the first time, if your buddies AWD downpipe is cheap enough, buy it and throw it up on classifieds, make a little bit of money, and some seller reputation. :thumb:
The difference between them is that the FWD downpipe bends toward the center of the underbody, where the driveshaft would be on an AWD. YES the downpipe would bolt up, but here lies the problem, your downpipe will be offset from the rest of your exhaust system.
Turbo Rebuild <-- Pretty straight forward how-to. As far as the rebuild "kit" Forced performance USED to offer it, but from the looks of it, Ebay is the only thing I can find, and I wouldn't trust the parts as far as I could throw them ;)
300Hp will be tough on the 450cc injectors; However, I like that you're ready to move away from the T25, the 14b is a good turbo, I say slap it on, and tune. Seeing as you're on a college student budget, don't go for the new 14b landspeed record, as it could end badly. :thumb:
If you don't mind shipping your car, and more importantly, If you don't mind Professional Top of the LINE work, Go with ModernAutomotivePerformance in Minnesota.
Hey Guys, on the subject of Auto-Darkening subjecting you to being flashed, I just bought a new hood, and would like to give my honest opinion, I bought a Speedglas 9100X, and it's got what's called a "comfort control" You can set it up so once you strike, it'll darken to your preferred shade...
Oh wow, I just did a little bit of digging, it is required by law to have a lifetime warranty on the seat belt, Call your local Mitsu dealership, and ask them if they honor it.
I don't believe it would be under warranty now, however, if you can come up with the Recall number on that specific model, Mitsubishi may honor it, I did a basic google search of mitsubishi parts relating to the electrical restraint systems, and came up with this; 1992 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE Parts -...
If anyone is interested in this 1991 TSI AWD 5Spd let me know, I pulled the head, and the piston in Cyl #1 looks like it went 8 rounds with Mike Tyson. The body's good, and the tranny is one of the smoothest shifters i've ran, I just have no use for the shell + trans. Also I just re-titled it +...
Yes, it was a full IPT build, and I recommend to the OP, even if the end clutch solves the problem at hand, there were filings/shavings etc in the system, think about doing the trans re-build, you won't be dissapointed!
:hellyeah:
+1 on the end clutch kit, When I first got my car it would do that, I disabled overdrive, and drove it 190 miles home just fine, that was the first thing I did, was order a full tranny rebuild kit + end clutch + translab shift kit.
Nice find, I seen that car online and knew it would go to a good home! About that auto, I went with the IPT trans and Translab shiftkit, and LOVE it, there is a guy down on the peninsula here that worked for chrystler for 30 years, and he knows these cars inside/out he did the rebuild kit on...
I once had a 1995 GS-T that developed compressor surge out of the blue one day, I racked my brain for days, It turned out to be a " T " connection that was cracked, my BOV line ran to/from the fitting.
Today I went and talked to the old boy that supplied me with my trans core and rebuilt it. I was looking for info on where he gets his machine work done, what I found, was that he's got a 2.4 short block out of an early 90's dodge colt. It was pulled under warranty work at the dealership he was...
there is a shop up here that sells the meth kits and has the ability to help a guy with the fine tune. Does anyone know if link has the ability to control and tune with meth?
good advise on talking to a supporting vendor, never considered that, they'll probably more than happy to help me match up internals for a build :)
I've purchased most of my stuff from www.exterempsi.com and have been treated very well. is there any other vendors that anyone would recommend...
no sir, no ethanol whatsoever.
my options are 87, 88.5, and 90 octane.when it comes to boring... what's the safe limit?
If I decide I'm only gonna bore this block once, what's the downside to going .060 the first time?Pistons...
thanks for the good info herms, I didn't know running arp main studs required extra machine work.
And before I get too far into a build here, 90 octane is the highest I have available at the pump... what kinda set back is that going to have? I can get leaded AV gas but I don't think that...
Money really isn't a factor when deciding what internals I want, HOWEVER, I live in Alaska and the lack of options for machine work = big shipping cost when it's all said and done.
Is there a quality forged piston out there that doesn't require the rod to be machined to mate them?
I have no...
So after a heavy foot and a boost spike I've now got the head off. What I've found are pistons marked 63D... N/A pistons right? One (#1) has been burned clear through, and one (#2) has clearly been struck by the exhaust valves, but appears to have been done long ago judging by the amount of...
I'm going to grave dig this ancient thread of mine, Any updates on those two places getting AWD Dyno's? As a last resort i'm just going to go down to Lucas English and have him wave his magic wand =p
Yes yes, I completely agree with staying OEM on the timing belt, As far as the COP thank you very much for that input, i was considering going with a SparkTech wireless ignition system. I am running with a forced performance cast manifold right now, by far the best in my book.
Well the time has come for an engine build and, as always, I come to DSMTuners for the wealth of knowledge and guidance.
First off, my Brother and I are very motivated to achieve our goal of 500whp. That being said, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, pointers, or first hand...
I've been in that position, i opted for duct tape, Regaurdless it actually Feels better to rip it off than to just do nothing about it. I feel your pain brother!
