I feel dumber for reading that.quart of transmission fluid = $6possibly ruining your catalytic convervter and 02 sensors = $$$.$$Motor flushing with ATF will not provide the results you want. It's a bandaid. Tear it apart and clean it by hand with cleaners. Seafoam will clean your...
Anyone who votes in a presidential election should google "electoral college".Then, look up how much the country spends on our current "wars" along with foreign aid and it Ian hard to figure out where a lot of the money is going.
I have talked to a few track owners (Sand drag racing, circle track, off road courses) They rarely turned a meaningful profit, and they had very low operating and maintenance costs. costs Depending on which class you entered, the entry fee per car was anywhere from $25-200. A good weekend would...
I forgot the nozzle in the fill neck in my talon once... I admit it...In my defense I was on my second day of no sleep, it was 2AM, I was driving across the state to see a girlfriend, and it was about 10* and blowing like crazy. I drove away from the pump and heard the sound of the hose...
I can't speak so much for the legal side of things but I grew up around small time drag/sand drag racing so I might have a few suggestions...A lot of the tracks were in remote areas to keep complaints at a minimum and avoid other liabilities. The EMT crews in such areas are going very excited...
I've actually had a lot of interesting or "crazy" stuff happen in my life. A lot of people like that that about me. I can honestly say I've led an interesting life and I've been blessed enough to live through it all. I'm rarely short on conversation.
Alright, here it goes...When I was 18 my parents said it was time for me to grow up and move out. The only place I could find in time that was in my budget was a sketchy 2 story house in a less than desirabe area. I didn't really care about the area since it was what I was accustomed to. The...
You're clutch is likely toast BUT you should climb under the car and have some depress and release the clutch while you watch the clutch release fork for proper movement.
I had a police standoff go down in the living room of the house I was renting a room in. I was home.Speaking of 12ga reports, there's quite a difference when one is fired in the confines of a home. I think I had some permanent damage to my hearing from that.
I can see that there is a large spectrum with the whole stance thing. A few of the cars look great, others not so much.I think of show vs go in the car world as the same thing as the clothes fashion fads...You'll have people who will drop big bucks on name brand clothing, and keep up to...
Grey clear? I've also seen higher hp cars do the same thing. A lot of times it's leftover carbon deposits and impurities getting burned off from the higher temps of a hard pull. This sounds like an oil burn though.OP, shoot a video and/or get crackin on some diagnostics.
No.Dont let oil or coolant levels fool you. It takes only a tiny bit of oil burning to create a lot of smoke, and coolant levels will fluctuate depending on if your car is hot or cold. You need to describe the smell of the smoke the best you can.
Whitish grey smoke has nothing to do with fueling or running rich. If it was black smoke then you have a fueling problem. You are either burning coolant or oil. It could be as simple as a PCV valve, or you might have much deeper internal issues. You need to do more diagnostics.
Dipstick tube, and oil cap, yes. There are also other areas it can escape to but those are the two main areas to listen to.The important thing is you can figure out where exactly your compression is escaping to and you can form a plan of action before you even take anything apart and will...
I just wanted to post one example of my gripe with domestic vehicles. This is a picture of a top side of a cylinder head from a Ford 2.0 SPI engine from a 2002 ford focus. The oil ports all have this extra flashing left over from the molding. I can reach into these ports and literally...
I heart terrible mechanics. They keep me in business all day long. Sounds like a car I picked up a couple months ago. The owners took it to a shop, who told them the timing belt had snapped and took out all the valves. Obviously they were unaware it was a non-interference engine ROFLTo the...
Your radiator hoses are likely rock hard from the cooling system being pressurized due to a blown head gasket. After you do a compression test, do a leakdown test. Not so much to see how much air is leaking, but where it's going.
Don't drive it until you rectify the problem. Simple as that. I helped my bud with his stock 1G a couple weeks ago, he had low oil pressure from a big dent in the pan closing off the pickup screen. Spun a bearing. It wasn't loud at all, and sounded like a knock, not a spin. But we pulled the pan...
Alldata is wrong on that one, trust me. So far I've seen three 1.8t timing belts let go at 60-80k. Then again, this is Vegas. It's hot and DRY. Rubber doesn't like dry. I saw a 2.7t wait till over 150k to snap, but that car spent its days in Salt Lake City.
They can be problematic, moreso on the Volkswagen end of things than Audi, even though some models are the "same". One thing I have also noticed is the owners tend to know NOTHING about cars and the vehicle pays the price. Personally, I LOVE the way the front ends are set up. I can do a t-belt...
Audi A4 1.8t quattro or a6 2.7t quattro. The 2.7t guzzles it pretty hard and is a pain to work on at first but has an incredible power band.I'm a big believer in VAG cars. They can be finicky but will live longer than you if taken care of.
If it turns out to be a belt noise and not the alternator try sanding the pulley grooves with some 1000 grit sandpaper. I'm sure some of you may think I'm crazy but I tried 3 different belt brands, and played with the tension endlessly. Nothing ever worked. I sanded/scoured my pulley grooves and...
DONT psych yourself out. Dropping the tranny really isn't a big deal and really doesn't require any "special" tools. There's members on here who can pull a trans and have it back in within a couple hours. Dont fear your car. It should be the other way around.
Climb under the car with some brake cleaner and remove that little shield so you can expose the flywheel and at least get some brake cleaner in the general area of the clutch and flywheel. Protect your eyes when doing this. What clutch did you put in and did you have the flywheel step machined?
Different a/m gauges will read differently. If you have the resources to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge then do so immediately. If your oil pressure really is that low then youll be in deep sh*t soon enough.Out of curiosity, do you have any dents in your oil pan?
