Honestly not sure where It was done at, It was already on the car when I bought it. picked it up from some kid in Somerset, said his friend works at some performance place there in town so I'd imagine he was who did the work but an exhaust shop isn't too hard to find, I live in a small town in...
You could take it to an exhaust shop and get it modified, Mine was hand built from an exhaust shop down in Mass for a few hundred $$ and gets the job done right. I think you'd be better off just doing an AWD swap , you gain traction, awesomeness and you don't have to fool with your exhaust :P
Personally I wouldn't touch it, "new" motors are always a risk because a lot of people just aren't familiar enough with the platform to build them right. There are so many horror stories out there of people wrapping up thousands of dollars in a new engine and the shop they took it to didn't do...
Either do it yourself which isn't too hard or find another shop, that place is way over charging you. I had a clutch done in my 95 GST about 4 years ago and it costs me about $350 for the clutch kit I picked and it cost me $300 in labor. I just replaced the transmission and transfer-case in my...
I didn't do anything in link. As fas as I understand it if you use link right before your car gets inspected it won't let the computer the state uses connect to the ECU. I believe it is one of the perks of link is that it will fix the readiness monitor issues that mitsu had. Since your car is a...
Some states exempt all 96-98 mitsubishi vehicles as NH doesSaf-C 3222.06 Exemptions from Rejection Criteria.(a) The following vehicles shall not be rejected for inspection due to "readiness" status as set forth in Saf-C 3222.03(d):(1) All new vehicles with an odometer...
Change All fluids, especially if the car has been sitting for a long time, check your suspension over real good too, make sure no bearing play, no loose tie rods, bad ball joints etc. Make sure your tires are properly inflated and have plenty of tread. You want to check all your belts including...
Haha good luck, when you called it a BOV i was hoping you wern't going to try to stick it on your IC piping, not sure what would happen but it wouldn't be good ROFL
nice, you might be able to use some of that stuff with some modification, the BOV on the header you mentioned, is actually a wastegate, if you can't use it you can always sell it to some honda kids and buy some dsm parts!
Well I have had no problems with XTD clutches but then again I don't have an RB in my car :P Lots of people have had good luck with the XTD kits in DSM's and thats what I'll keep using until I make too much power for an XTD to hold. Just search around and see what people at your desired power...
I had an XTD Stage 4 with a Fidanza flywheel I got on ebay for about $320 in my old GST, my GST dyno'd at 321whp and the clutch held just fine, I put about 40k on the clutch at that power level and when the engine gave up and had to come out the clutch was holding fine, but It wasn't looking...
I pulled the old line off and got a good look at it,Obviously there was the problem, I ordered my parts from Mitsubishi Parts | OEM Mitsubishi Parts | Genuine Mitsubishi Parts only took a few days to get them and the prices were pretty goodInstalled everything and now no more leaks...
Ya reckon maybe he could pop the injectors out and look down into the intake runner like that? I know its a small hole but I bet he could see enough of the intake port to see if its got oil in it.
Are you sure all the smoke isn't left over from before you did the valve stems? I only know of a few things that would cause a DSM to burn oil, Rings, Turbocharger and valve stem seals. It's possible you have oil in the inlet track weather its Intercooler, piping, or even inside the intake...
I don't see anything wrong with those results :D Yeah even healthy engines have a slight amount of leakage. What dsmalaska said about the oil rings being upside down sure could be true, you bought that engine you didn't build it yourself right? If you have air leaking from cylinder 3 into...
A 30 psi jump is quite a bit But not something I would worry about unless the engine is high mileage, on my Bro's 6 bolt gst he gained 70 psi on cylinder 2 and 120 psi on cylinder 4 doing a wet and dry test, after the car got drove around a bit and everything was all broke in shes perfect now...
Well when I was going to school they told us anymore than a 5psi increase means bad rings, I have never actually followed that rule, considering your compression is 180 I would say your engine is fine, mines a mitsu rebuild and i only get about 160 across the board, my brothers 6 bolt is only...
Nope, you made me question myself for a moment though, When cylinder number 1 is at TDC Compression #4 will be at TDC Exhaust Stroke, In this picture below you'll see on that on when #1's lobes are facing up as they would be on compression stroke #4's are facing down as they would be on exhaust
If you have 100% leakage on cylinder 4 I would venture to say you didn't have it on the compression stroke. As far as the smoking problem goes do you know if the oil is getting into the engine from the intake side? Are you having issues with oil burning in all 4 cylinders?
Back when I lived down there going to school I asked the same question you did on here and someone linked this Orlando DSM Forum I went to a meet or two, there were some good people out there but its been 3 years since I was out there.
Between my tax return and my quarterly bonus (which both came in with in days of eachother :D) I paid off my layaway on my S&W M&P15 , 5 30rd pmags, 500 rounds of 5.56 , Also grabbed up a custom Ruger 10/22 and then picked up goodies for my GSX:FP2 Cams, rebuilt transmission, rebuilt transfer...
Your my hero for today!! Thanks that is exactly what I needed, I replaced the washers today and it didn't fix the problem, it is leaking from the top of the pipe itself. Thanks again!!
I'll try that tommorow, do you know the torque spec for that bolt by chance?Tried right before I took those pictures, I can't get any tighter. I put it on with my 3' snap on 1/2 ratchet so shes nice and snug haha.
Both Washers are there and I can't tighten that bolt anymore, its possible for a washer to be buggard up a bit but there is coolant on the metal line it self above the bolt.
Sorry Didn't know you had an automatic, you could always make your own or just replace them with stock mounts. I have seen people make solid mounts with sealer used for installing windsheilds. I have used stock mounts from autozone before and they did the job and were pretty cheap but i had a...
STM: PROTHANE MOTOR MOUNT INSERTS | 90-99 DSM | 13-1902 | 13-1901Those are the inserts which are cheaper and work pretty good in my experience, they also sell the complete solid mounts for like $300 more which I have no experience with.
I don't have the part number, and unfortunately the nearest dealership is an hour away and as far as I am concerned that dealership is a joke, every time I try to order parts from them they always let me down, not worth the gas.
Wouldn't hurt to replace all your mounts but Mainly check the mount right under your turbo charger and the mount on the back of the transmission, those two control most of the engines forward and rearward movement. I took my GST to a local shop and had them do the clutch, well they rushed it and...
Hello other unfortunate DSM owners :P I have been working on my car all winter and have finally got the engine back into the car with a new transmission and transfer case. Filled it up with coolant let her start running and made some base adjustments. After she was all good I let her sit for a...
My block in my 97 GSX had that coating as well. My block was rusting some and the coating was flaking away down in the corners. I picked away all that would come off and cleaned up my block as best I could with a wire wheel on the drill and used some wire brushes and picks to make sure I cleaned...
Double check to make sure you tightened the strut up enough (the big bolt on the top of the strut) I just helped a friend replace the struts in his girls cobalt and we didn't get the strut nut tight enough so it was banging when we hit bumps. Took the impact hit the top of both struts again and...
Chances are pretty good if the car isn't trying to start at all as in the starter won't power up, the aftermarket alarm system could be causing the problem. Since you want to bypass it I would just remove it, try to find the control module for the aftermarket security system. I have found many...
Wasn't a bad one just really not as good as some of the others, my personal favorite is the Hollywood one, not so much because of the stunts, just the change of venue and all the props and stuff in it.
I would stay away from a 420a man, with what you spend on a 420a car along with a turbo conversion you could have a really nice AWD DSM making more power too and it will be more dependable, I'm sure you know the 420a's aren't built to be boosted. there is also a forum just for NE dsm's its...
Most of my tools are snap on from my days at the ford dealership, my torque wrench is an electric 1/2" with digital display, it beeps and vibrates when you hit the desired torque, downside is its very expensive, I believe I paid $612 or $614 for it. I had a harbor freight I picked up for like...
ah its fine, your car is just being optimistic :P Have you done anything to the cluster or any wiring before this happened? how long has it been going on?
In my experience most of the lifters fill up in about 5 mins but you may have a few stragglers that can take up to 20 mins or so to pump up. just keep an eye out for coolant and oil leaks and you should be good to go! Good Luck!
