I agree with DSMCurse and know for a fact that it does not impact intake temps enough to matter.. It does however make a big differance on how that car looks IMO.. :thumb:
Now I am sure my first welds will look horrible..HOWEVER I must say, that manifold reminds me of some of the STD pictures I have seen when arriving at a new duty station... :hmm: It needs a doctor IMO
I planned on picking up the Eastwood tig for my starter tig machine. As I searched around I came across Everlast machines and was sold.. I am going to pick up a powertig 250ex soon. It costs more then the Eastwood but its a LOT more machine also.If your budget limited Everlast has the...
I spoke with Jon about the site. He said he hasent had internet for a few days and will text Alan. Not having CDSM has allowed me to find my next hobby/training tool! :hellyeah:
You would have to have both the head and block bored out. Then the block would have to be taped.I would just go with some 7 bolt L19 headstuds if you plan on running that much boost.Would cost less then all the machine work and then having to buy 1g L19 headstuds.
Is the car holding fuel pressure after you turn it off? If so how long does it take to bleed down. You may be leaking pressure @ the sending unit.Hope this helps!
Does it smoke every time you start it? Or only after sitting for a while. If it only smokes after sitting for a while it may be your valve seals leaking.Do check the charge pipes for oil in them. And a compression test can rule out any issues with the headgasket.
If the ECU is not seeing the clutch switch then it will think your sitting still and use the launch limit as a rpm limiter. My friends 90 talon has a disconnected clutch switch and has his launch limit set to 7000 so he can use it as a rev limit.
The IAC is what catches your RPMS when coming to a stop, not the FIAV.The only purpous for the FIAV is to allow the RMPs @ Idle to be higher then normal when the car is cold. It holds the idle higher to warm the car up faster. There is a video on how to check it. I lost it tho lol...
No, you will need the kit.The oring is a differant size vs the stock one. WIthout it, it will not hold pressure.I ended up using a peice of hose and come clamps. I used the proper install kit for it. After a few months it leaked pressure.
I dont know if this will help as i dont own a ERL manifold.I do how ever own both a 2g gsx and a 91gvr4. I would say there is twice the amount of room between the block and radiator in the 2g then in the GVR4. If that manifold pushes the housing away from the block then I highly doubt it...
Do YOU think its worth keeping?I would keep it, but I also have the knowhow to fix issues with it.
If you do keep it, you will learn how to fix them on your own. It how most of us started..
91 GVR4
814/2000Picked it up 3 weeks ago with a blown HG..
Back on the road as of 9/19/2011Hope this is considered "clean" by other members. I just wanted it to be like looking into a time machine. :D
(Copied from ECM tuning fourms)I am trying to get my car dialed in and for the life of me it just will not let me.
I set the maf settings for it to read .25-.26 AirflowPerRev and after a few mins it will either shoot to .27-.28 or drop to .23-.24. Or I can dial it in and turn off the car...
Another thought.
Is the compression tester working? Is it holding the peak pressure or just falling off to 0psi after your finished cranking the engine? If timing is correct I would try a differant tester just to be sure.
2g punishment kit...Took me a hour or so. Hardest part was getting the bumper cover off..I did not retain the crash bar. If you do it will take more time to cut and fit it correctly.
Injector seals could cause a boost leak but not 0 compression. The intake valves are between the injectors and combustion chamber.I would bet on timing being the culprit here.
I wish I would have installed link before any mod on the car. Your right thinking the way you are. Later on down the road you will thank yourself! Not having link is a pain for me right now.. Taxes are here to save the day tho!Having link now will allow you to get the most out of the parts you...
Yea ive looked at vfaq and I understand offsets. Thats one of the places that makes me think the 48 would rub.I'm just really lost when it comes to rims and tires lol :(
As the title states I have searched many times on here and on other sites and still don't know the correct offset for some slipstreams. My number one choice is 16x8s with some 245/45/16s...
But the 16" rotas Ive seen only come in 48 offset... Seems to me they would hit the suspension with...
Can I ask why? I'm sure the weight savings between aluminum and CF would be very minimal. Wondering if it would be a better insulator and keep the temps down after the IC.
They ALL start out as DDs..... ALL of them LOL.Seriously tho, I drove mine today in the snow and its a blast. No matter what I am driving on the DSM is just an all out fun car to drive. You will fall in love, and the mod bug WILL bite you with the DSM the same way it has with the Cobra.
How close is STM to you? They do have some of the best tuners working there IMO.
I am tempted to take my car from NC to have STM tune it heh. Besides who doesn't want a "Tuned by STM" sticker lol
?? The exducer larger on the 7 blade comp wheel? I haven't been able to find one to see what the measurements are on them. Thanks for the tip, may have not noticed other wise. :thumb:
Great find!!Seems the Holset band wagon is growing. I just picked up my own 60mm H1E this past week. Now I need to find a 7 blade comp wheel for it for me to be truly happy!
If you replace the couplers you have with some nicer ones and a few t bolt clamps it will make it look a lot better, and they wont blow off. Just food for thought I guess tho. I know there was a place where you could get silicone couplers pretty cheap.I just gotta find the site again...
Now that I think about it. To install the pipes you would also need someone to weld on a bov flange. So it would end up costing more then I thought at first. You could fix the one you have. Maybe re-hang it and fix the couplers/pipes?
The core looks like a Punishment 2g core.Looking at the few 1g short route kits out there it seems that the core is with the inlet and outlets facing the car, not out to the sides. Someone with a 1g would know better then I, but I'm sure with some time and pipes you could run it in a long...
When you do a blt do you spray the soapy water over all of the piping? You could have small holes in the inter cooler, pipes, etc. When I do a blt I SOAK the entire intake track/manifold. I found a ton of small leaks all over the place when I had the stock pipes. They wouldn't allow me to hit...
Not to barge in but that leak at the bov flange came on really quick. What kind of pressure is your line regulated at, and how much boost is inside the intake when the leak starts to bubble? Seems to me its at a very low boost (2~3psi). If its that low then that "small" leak @ 7psi will be even...
Same with me! Nothing better then seeing their faces when they come downstairs Christmas morning:hellyeah:. Got the wife a few things also and she has NO IDEA what they are!Ordered myself a PR FMIC... will be here tomorrow and should be on by Saturday.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/382960-500-hp-stock-7-bolt-corys-stm-tsi.htmlCory @ STM, and the STM Crew hitting 500hp on stock 7bolt. Thats not to say everyone can hit that number, but it is possible. :hellyeah:
What size injectors are you running? (Please update your mod list)
Also when you do hit boost, what A/F is your wideband showing?
If your running to rich it will feel like fuel cut when its flooded.During normal driving my A/F bounces between 14.6~15.2. Its the closest to the stock 14.9 I...
**Resolved**Come to find out it was the 0-ring. Seems the walbro's neck that the o-ring goes on is a bit smaller in diameter then the stock one. That caused the o-ring to leak out the pressure. Now I am pulling 13% fuel off all of the high throttle Ne points. Still need to zero it in with...
