  1. DSM/EVO Shootout 2010

Almost here. Can't wait this will be my first one this year. Not looking forward to the 14 hour drives but I know it is going to be well worth it. See ya's there.
  2. facebook users out there

I added. Also add mine dsm's over muscle cars DSM's over muscle cars | Facebook
  3. Injector Selection help

I'm running FIC 850's got them dialed in with link with no problems. Zero issues with these injectors.
  4. Replacing upper ball joint help

Yea chances are you will be able to salvage them unless they are pretty horrible. But if they are pretty old maybe now would be a good time to do ball joints and think for the future.
  5. 1G fuel injectors

Don't be afraid to go a little bigger. Don't cost really any different and will give you room to play with later.
  6. Evo 3 16g vs. Holset HX35 on Auto/FWD car

+1 on the hx35 I really don't think you would be disappointed.
  7. first logfile on the V3 Volvo

What feels like a monster the project? The stumbling under boost you sure that isn't a boost leak?
  8. Rough idle

    Boost leak test?
  9. Waste gate auctuator

That sounds a little short. But I would say about a half or 3/8" is about right.
  10. I give up on dsm

Its all about how they are taken care of maintenance wise. I bought my 93 tsi with 175,000 on it from a kid that had it for 12 years and took really good care of it. I have since had it for 8 months and have run the shit out of that car with next to no problems(Speedo cable, Power steering belt...
  11. not charging till i rev engine

+1 battery connection same issue with mine last week charged the battery twice and after driving it both times it still wouldn't start the next day. It was the connection.
  12. Intercooler Preferences

+1 on the VR speed FMIC. Solid kit
  13. first logfile on the V3 Volvo

Its looking pretty good from what I see. As you say air flow per rev could come down a bit but other than that looking pretty good.
  14. Engine build plan

Lower compression pistons the more boost you can through at it. Higher compression pistons you will see more power out of your engine but will be more limited on boost. And some cams thats my 2 cents.
  15. Best teacher's name ever!

That is crazy. By far the best name I heard of.
  16. 1992 Plymouth laser

I agree. I spent 2000 on my 93 and it was mint condition. I also payed 400 for a 90 that only needs a fuel pump. Getting a 91 this week for 600 just needs a headgasket other than that mint condition, comes with a complete new head and less than 97000 miles on it. So I would say you can find a...
  17. Head will be coming off today

Sorry to hear the damages but that is really surprising to hear that the cylinder walls are still in good shape.
  18. cylinder 4 0compression

Do a leakdown test before you go pulling it apart. At least that is what I would do.
  19. New to DSM's. Got a Talon TSi AWD

Welcome. This site has all the knowledge you could ask for about these cars. When you have questions use the search . As almost every new member will have a question that has been asked 300 times and could have just used the search. But hope you learn to love these cars as much as most of us do.
  20. Ebay 1gb Headlights - Where Did They Go?

I also would like to know, as one of my lenses is cracked too. Best time to upgrade is when something is broke right. I have searched far and wide and the best lenses I came up with are these Euro Diamond Headlights by Custom Though I am looking for the black ones for mine as well.
  21. so i have this bet going on with my cousin...

how bout :tease:"I got beat by a 15 year old dsm":ohdamn:I like that sticker idea right there. Definitely keep us posted on this.
  22. When to upgrade Lash Adjusters and Rocker Arms?

Well you wouldn't necessarily need lifters and rocker arms. But if you are doing all that work already its always a good idea to get it all taken care of the first time. Instead of going back and doing that. Save the hassle in my opinion.
  23. how's my compression

You are definitely not going to get the performance you would with the better compression. But if you are not that worried about it. It will likely still hold for a long time. I am running 150 135 150 150 in my 93 right now and have been since I checked it in december last year. Still very...
  24. problems shifting to first

Does it go in easy when the engine is not running?
  25. tech

You really did make 2 of the same threads. If you use the search you will find there is like 300 other posts of the same issues.
  26. Prospective DSM owner here

They might have changed out the belts. But very doubtful that the timing belt was changed and that is the one to be worried about. Great buy though, I am very jealous.
  27. 2 91 talon awd's for $1500 is it worth it?

I think it is well worth it. That is 750 a piece. Which I think they would be more than worth it in parts. Hell get the better one going and sell it and make your money back and you will have gotten a free parts car.
  28. overheated and died on the highway

I think you will be just fine with new head gasket. Just put it together and do a compression test. See where you are at and go from there. As they say "if it aint broke, don't fix it". No need to blow all that money if you don't even need a rebuild.
  29. coolant line blew when turned car off

The SMIC is pressurized when you do the BLT so check when you do the BLT.
  30. Before / after!

Wow excellent job on the cars. You definitely have to keep us updated and more pics I love it. I have been dreaming of this for the longest time. You are living the dream of many of us on here. If you were closer I would be over all the time lending a hand just for the fun of the builds. Maybe...
  31. coolant line blew when turned car off

All I have ever heard was the air pump in and then the leaks that I had. Mabey your turbo got hot with the coolant line issue. Resulting in the hotside cracking. I just a couple months back was having issues with boost and my hotside was cracked (common with 14b).
  32. How many people get distracted by their gauges?

    http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/38820-oil-pressure-gauge-sensor-questions-merged-oil-sender-2.html
  33. coolant line blew when turned car off

But did that solve your boost problem?
  34. Notice the chatbar at the bottom of your browser window?

Any news on bringing back the chat bar? That was nice to have.
  35. clunking noise in the front driver side

It could be any of the things mentioned above. If you have checked the tie rod ends for slop and they checked out good. Then most likely ball joints or cv joint. I wanna say you are on the right path with the cv joint though. Also I have had this same clunking sound when I had a wheel that...
  36. installing valves and valvesprings

Visual Frequently Answered Questions - Home Page This might not have everything you are looking for but I'm sure it will help.
  37. My Engine Bay Transformation

Wow everything is looking great!!! I plan to do this next winter Hopefully save up about 8000 this summer and do motor rebuild and engine bay cleanup like this all in one shot. But great job can't wait to see the finished result.
  38. Another Standing Mile Record! Broken By An EVO II

I agree with above. Its always great to see the guy doing it himself over the ones with the big shop hookup. Very nice evo indeed.
  39. 25 psi too much boost?

GET A WIDEBAND!!! No just kidding but yes as you already know you really do need a wideband. I personally think you are definitely going to reach too high of intake temps on your stock intercooler. And also wondering if your fuel pump will be able to produce the needed fuel to run that boost...
  40. Just bought a 2g what now?

That has crossed my mind too. The extra cash into my 1g would go a long ways. I love my 1g interior. I do like the 2g interior though too. Man both 1g and 2g's are great. How can you not fall in love with dsm's.
  41. Just bought a 2g what now?

Yea I personally wouldn't say they are ugly but I do prefer the 1g's. I'm thinking of maybe keeping it as a daily driver. But if I could get a good chunk for it sell it because I will have very little into it. I will try again here to post the pics let me know what you guys think on value with...
  42. Just bought a 2g what now?

I do agree I love the 1g's they look way better. I'm just kinda thinking I need to have a 2g to feel complete haha.
  43. Just bought a 2g what now?

So I have had a 1g I have been building up for a while now. When a couple days ago I came across a 2g for sale. Its a 95 Talon ESI. Looked in decent shape just needs a motor. So I came to the conclusion I could use another project. I figured buy it throw a motor in it then sell it. Make a little...
  44. painting parts in engine bay

Looks good I also would like to see it when its back together. I hear ya on the work 16 hours a day and daily driver. But I myself am going to park mine in a week when my truck is fixed so I can spend what little weekend time I have on it.
  45. Vision FPR

You shouldn't have a remark like that. He was giving his opinion which I agree with. As you see he is a proven member with 700 posts. You are a new member with 3. I'm not saying you don't have knowledge. Its just like you should be in person show respect to the wise.
  46. gauge help

You beat me to it I just came across that.
  47. Transmission temp gauge install

True I do highly doubt there would be a specific one for this use. But I can guarantee I can find an adapter that will match the threads on the sender and the transmission housing.
  48. Transmission temp gauge install

Yup that is what I'm going to do thank you for the idea.
  49. Transmission temp gauge install

very good Idea with the adapter I was thinking about using it as the drain plug but buying an adapter would be the ticket.
  50. Transmission temp gauge install

Yea this is true. I wanted one for mine though. I also got a good deal on it so couldn't pass it up.
