Almost here. Can't wait this will be my first one this year. Not looking forward to the 14 hour drives but I know it is going to be well worth it. See ya's there.
Yea chances are you will be able to salvage them unless they are pretty horrible. But if they are pretty old maybe now would be a good time to do ball joints and think for the future.
Its all about how they are taken care of maintenance wise. I bought my 93 tsi with 175,000 on it from a kid that had it for 12 years and took really good care of it. I have since had it for 8 months and have run the shit out of that car with next to no problems(Speedo cable, Power steering belt...
+1 battery connection same issue with mine last week charged the battery twice and after driving it both times it still wouldn't start the next day. It was the connection.
Lower compression pistons the more boost you can through at it. Higher compression pistons you will see more power out of your engine but will be more limited on boost. And some cams thats my 2 cents.
I agree. I spent 2000 on my 93 and it was mint condition. I also payed 400 for a 90 that only needs a fuel pump. Getting a 91 this week for 600 just needs a headgasket other than that mint condition, comes with a complete new head and less than 97000 miles on it.
So I would say you can find a...
Welcome. This site has all the knowledge you could ask for about these cars. When you have questions use the search . As almost every new member will have a question that has been asked 300 times and could have just used the search. But hope you learn to love these cars as much as most of us do.
I also would like to know, as one of my lenses is cracked too. Best time to upgrade is when something is broke right. I have searched far and wide and the best lenses I came up with are these Euro Diamond Headlights by Custom
Though I am looking for the black ones for mine as well.
Well you wouldn't necessarily need lifters and rocker arms. But if you are doing all that work already its always a good idea to get it all taken care of the first time. Instead of going back and doing that. Save the hassle in my opinion.
You are definitely not going to get the performance you would with the better compression. But if you are not that worried about it. It will likely still hold for a long time. I am running 150 135 150 150 in my 93 right now and have been since I checked it in december last year. Still very...
They might have changed out the belts. But very doubtful that the timing belt was changed and that is the one to be worried about. Great buy though, I am very jealous.
I think it is well worth it. That is 750 a piece. Which I think they would be more than worth it in parts. Hell get the better one going and sell it and make your money back and you will have gotten a free parts car.
I think you will be just fine with new head gasket. Just put it together and do a compression test. See where you are at and go from there. As they say "if it aint broke, don't fix it". No need to blow all that money if you don't even need a rebuild.
Wow excellent job on the cars. You definitely have to keep us updated and more pics I love it. I have been dreaming of this for the longest time. You are living the dream of many of us on here. If you were closer I would be over all the time lending a hand just for the fun of the builds. Maybe...
All I have ever heard was the air pump in and then the leaks that I had. Mabey your turbo got hot with the coolant line issue. Resulting in the hotside cracking. I just a couple months back was having issues with boost and my hotside was cracked (common with 14b).
It could be any of the things mentioned above. If you have checked the tie rod ends for slop and they checked out good. Then most likely ball joints or cv joint. I wanna say you are on the right path with the cv joint though. Also I have had this same clunking sound when I had a wheel that...
Wow everything is looking great!!! I plan to do this next winter Hopefully save up about 8000 this summer and do motor rebuild and engine bay cleanup like this all in one shot. But great job can't wait to see the finished result.
GET A WIDEBAND!!! No just kidding but yes as you already know you really do need a wideband. I personally think you are definitely going to reach too high of intake temps on your stock intercooler. And also wondering if your fuel pump will be able to produce the needed fuel to run that boost...
That has crossed my mind too. The extra cash into my 1g would go a long ways. I love my 1g interior. I do like the 2g interior though too. Man both 1g and 2g's are great. How can you not fall in love with dsm's.
Yea I personally wouldn't say they are ugly but I do prefer the 1g's. I'm thinking of maybe keeping it as a daily driver. But if I could get a good chunk for it sell it because I will have very little into it. I will try again here to post the pics let me know what you guys think on value with...
So I have had a 1g I have been building up for a while now. When a couple days ago I came across a 2g for sale. Its a 95 Talon ESI. Looked in decent shape just needs a motor. So I came to the conclusion I could use another project. I figured buy it throw a motor in it then sell it. Make a little...
Looks good I also would like to see it when its back together. I hear ya on the work 16 hours a day and daily driver. But I myself am going to park mine in a week when my truck is fixed so I can spend what little weekend time I have on it.
You shouldn't have a remark like that. He was giving his opinion which I agree with. As you see he is a proven member with 700 posts. You are a new member with 3. I'm not saying you don't have knowledge. Its just like you should be in person show respect to the wise.
True I do highly doubt there would be a specific one for this use. But I can guarantee I can find an adapter that will match the threads on the sender and the transmission housing.
