I would also like a source for this info... cause apparently im the only person who remembers that 1Gs actually came factory without the hump for a while...on another note, +1 for the fb link. Should be a fun build for you, man. Keep your wrench a turnin and ill be following along. This is...
Do you have any experience with that ckutchmaster kit? Whats the tq rating?I dont want something a stroker is gonna tear to pieces and have me replacing in a few months.
Is there a best place to purchase from? Whats a good price range for what im looking for? 500 dollars isnt exactly easy spending for me but I want to make sure its gonna last and be well suited for the job
Ok, just to let you know, this is my first engine build, so please be gentle, lol. I would like to know what clutch and pressure plate combo would be best suited for my build.6 bolt 2.3L
4g64 crankshaft
Eagle H beam rods
Probe .20 over 8.5:1 pistons
MHI Evo V twin scroll 16g turbo...
I would definitely say the swap is worth the time and effort it takes, which really isn't even that bad. They're a blast and the swap is really only a few day thing (depending on experience and work conditions) Good luck either way! :thumb:
These are a few pics of the donor car I bought to repair the front end of my GSX. Mine was cut off a little less haphazardly, lol. I drilled out all the spot welds and got it ready to go over the course of a few nights, now all i need to do is weld it on :thumb:All mocked up and ready to weld...
When you do a BSE, there's a plug you have to cover in RTV otherwise, well, I'm sure you can figure it out, lol. There are scads of threads about this leak :thumb:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/444452-oil-leak-after-bse-install-video.html
Just get out there and play with it! Why build something you're afraid to break? Lol, I have spare everythings and I can't wait to start twisting axles ;) It's your toy, play with it how you think it should be played with and when you break something, take it with a grain of salt and make it...
If you have the bracket from the old seat, you should be able to weld the new seat onto it. I took Prelude seats and welded them straight to the floor in my E30. looked great, but they were tough to slide and they sat super duper low in the car so I wouldn't suggest just making something work...
ALL of it is your choice, guy. Check out some build threads and read through all the posts you can and figure out what you want to do and just go for it! The destroker idea is pretty cool, but it all depends on how much you wanna spend, part availability, and what you want out of it. Good luck, man!
If I recall correctly, 95s are still OBD1 and 96+ are OBD2. I'm sure it depends on what parts of the harness you're using, but it should make a difference. Be careful and good luck
Its your fuel map! It's got a nasty hole, that's why you're unloading in 3rd! lol, actually, are you running a wideband or anything? We ran our car without O2 sensors and it got the ECU all discombobulated. Got the sensors in and it seems to have figured itself out (for now)
Definitely get rid of the balance shafts. Other members have told us horror stories of them coming apart and destroying motors and we will forever be in favor of such a simple operation :thumb:
I thought the same thing when i picked up a Stealth trans for 25 bucks, lol. Luckily I didnt spend too much on it and hopefully you didnt either ;) Good luck!
^Check your wiring! Trace all the hots and grounds you can. Our Spyder would die randomly and spit and sputter when we were driving. Checked the battery connections, alternator, fuses and relays, everything we could think of until one day the battery lit up the whole back seat (relocated...
I would definitely check the coolant temp sensor and the wiring around the t-stat housing. We had ours hooked up wrong and the gauge would show hot as soon as we started it and cool down as it ran. Switched some wires around and replaces the cts and its running much better and the gauge doesn't...
Our Spyder always had problems like this. Make sure your throttle body isn't sticking and the throttle cable isn't loose or anything simple like that, but definitely take a look at the fuel filter and some of the other delivery components. Check the small stuff first :thumb: Good luck, man!
Personally, I would just spend the extra for a Gates belt. You can never go wrong by doing it right. And thats a ridiculous price for a valve cover IMO. Check the marketplace or even Craigslist and I'm sure you could find one for half that. Also, you might want to look into a balance shaft...
It takes a little more cutting, but you can also cut off right above the power steering pump. Just be sure to mark off or remember the necessary holes and you can pretty much eliminate the rest. I ran mine over a grinder and rounded off the top and threw some paint on it and it looks just fine...
Thanks, guys! I would have posted more pics of the body work I've done, but I hit my photo quota? Idk. I'll get more up as soon as I can. She's looking a whole lot better by now, lol.
Ok, so as the life of someone without their own garage often goes, I've had to move my car several times over the years for storage or a place to work on it and, needless to say, things haven't gone smoothly. During my change from garage to storage, some "friends" of mine decided to help me out...
Haha, that was my buddies. We swapped it to a 4G63 n/a and we got it mostly running, but he traded it off for a 13.5 JL W7 and an amp and sold that for 1500 about a week later. Sad to say, the kid that bought it didnt have enough gumption to finish it and i think it wound up in a field...
Ok, so I've been on here for forever and never made time to start a build thread, so here goes!
I am currently working on my 1st DSM, a stupid clean 92 GSX 6/4 i scored for $200 from some random guy in a gas station. I was talking to my roommate about wanting an Eclipse some day and this man...
Actually, it was a 17C turbo! Also, be sure to mention the electrical issue you fixed when er got back from cedar rapids. Something to do with the coil pack and the 1G CAS? I wasnt really listening when you told me about it :sosad:
It just so happened that we broke the alt tensioner bracket holder bolt off in the front case. Stranded with no idea how to fix it with what we had. Called another buddy of mine (this one drove a Honda, so i was confident we would make it where we were going) and he took me to Menards for the...
If we used half straight and half premix, it would theoretically be about a 75/25 mix. It saved us a couple bucks and makes the mix a little easier to fine tune. Tried to explain it to the friendly neighborhood redneck in Walmart that way and his head almost exploded ROFL
just forgot to turn it down when you swapped it backThat was my fault. It should be back pretty close to stock now, lol. We are just trying to get it running reliably for now, so where should we start troubleshooting? How would we know if its retarded or not? I should mention that we have a...
no logging, stock maf, stock injectors, stock EVERYTHING. there have been very very few mods done to the car. fmic, 1g cas, uncirculated bov, and tubular exhaust manifold are pretty much the only things done to it aside from the awd swap. the mystery turbo was just for gits and shiggles
yea, we did crank the boost up on that mystery turbo in hopes to get above 5 psi, so im guessing you just forgot to turn it down when you swapped it back to stock, lol.please note, we are running about half 50/50 and half straight antifreeze in hopes to keep it cooler. this thing has only...
you said you just changed plugs, is it possible you could have over tightened one of them and cracked it? a buddy of mine cracked a plug the day he put it in and the car ran like absolute turd on brand new plugs. took us a while to figure that one out
I love my awd too much to ever swap, but while shopping around for parts on my friends fc rx7 we learned that with the help of an adaptor plate, they will bolt up to a 4g63 and word on the web is they make for a pretty beastly rwd swap. Sorry I can't get a link at the moment but it might be...
I like what I'm reading and I understand the concepts. These trucks run down the road every day at 30+ lbs of boost and pulling 100 tons or beter while they're at it... these engines are beast and need the best to keep them cool and going all day every day. that being said and with the info on...
my 92 gsx is pretty straight forward... cheap, clean, and very broken... im talking holes in the timing case, cracked block, (explains the missing oil), chewed up and VERY off center harmonic balancer (explains the yucky noise when i tried starting it the first time), but nothing super...
i was talking about my 92 gsx at a party one day and how im going through a total rebuild cause the car sat for so long blown up... this guy (who is a stealership mechanic, by the way) begins to tell me how hes building a celica gt for racing... catches my attention right away... he tells me...
