This is a 1990 Galant VR4 EVO spec, which came stock with the following: Big16g turbo,510cc injectors, FMIC, Shirt ratio transmission, 4WS 4 bolt rear end, and exterior upgrades.I purchased it 99% stock from the importing dealer, and have been converting it into a hill climb & track car...
Well...Heading back from a hike, came around a blind corner and met a Boulder in the road. Wasn’t going fast or anything, and it wasn’t visible till the last second. Ended up smacking the oil filter, and loosing 50% of the oil roughly.Metal was found in the oil. Attempted multiple flushes...
The GVR4 was turning off at randomly. Super sketchy. Took me days to figure it out. Had most of the wiring and dash apart, trying to tackle the issue. It ended up being an aftermarket alarm I didn’t even know the car had. It was hidden in the dash, and looked factory the way you could view it...
Relays were still getting warm, and it would still make the random chime with the turbo timer deleted. Not the issue. Ripped into the car more, and happened to stumble upon an aftermarket alarm. It looked factory the way it was hidden, had foam around it. What junk. I hate aftermarket...
It only clicks once, as does another relay somewhere under the steering wheel.I’ve never used the turbo timer in this car, it’s always been completely powered down. Deleted it earlier, and drove the car for 20 mins without it shutting down. Would be wonderful if that’s the issue, time will tell.
I noticed the relay circled, is incredibly hot. Almost couldn’t touch it, in order to pull it. Swapped it out with a known good one, and it started to get hot after 5 minutes. If you pull it while the car is running, it doesn’t kill it though. Hoping this will point me in the right direction...
Took the column area apart. Lots of random wiring. The Japanese love adding garage electronics. Moving any of it around doesn’t cause it to stall. Ignition doesn’t get hot, and wiggling it’s harness and key doesn’t cause it to stall. Drove it around the block, and it will stall within a minute...
Going to try and go over wiring today, and will check the ignition switch for heat.Forgot to note. The car has randomly been hard to start for 2ish weeks. I know the throttle body shaft seals have a leak, so assumed it was just that while I waited to replace them. First crank in the morning...
I have a 90 galant VR4. Coming home from hiking the other day, it randomly shut off while going 50mph. Cluster was dead, but all of my lights were working. Tried to restart it, and nothing. No cranking, no life in the cluster. All other electronic devices power up, electronic boost gauge...
I’ve been chasing a steering wheel vibration since picking this car up. 55+ MPH it starts to feel like you’re riding on wooden wheels. Even after all the new suspension, brakes, alignment, multiple wheel balancing. Axles looked good, driveshaft, wheel bearings. Couldn’t figure it out. Ended up...
Never spoke on the phone, I did email you though. Hot ticket item! No, I knew none of the dealers had them. Even though they had listed stock. I placed the order with a dealer in MO and here in NC. I was told they came from a warehouse, and not another dealer, and that the remaining ones were...
Fresh sealsAlso, had to track down a new driveshaft yoke recall kit. These are no longer being made! I found the remaining 18 in stock in the world, and bought them. Only 4 ended up getting shipped to me and someone else swiped the rest before they could be shipped out. Hopefully...
Transfer case was dropped tonight, to replace the seals. Yoke bearings feel terrible. Square and not round. Need to order more stuff, that will hinder driving it. Constant theme with this car thus far! Hopefully I can track something down tomorrow, and next day air it. I just wanna drive this...
Last year, or maybe closer to 2 years back. A one owner Mirage GT popped up locally. Complete unicorn. Couldn't pass it up. After purchasing, I didn't know what to do with it. In stock form, they are fairly boring, yet I didn't want to hack it apart. So I sold it.Prior to that Mirage, I've...
Growing up as a kid, I was vaguely into cars. I didn't know much, but there were a few 5.0 and Saleens in my town that I thought were awesome... Roughly in 1999 or 2000, my friend asked if I wanted to watch his cousins car at the race track. Being 12 or 13 I was beyond excited. What I didn't...
HelloPretty sure this username has been registered for 10 years or so? I've also lurked on this site well before that as well. Making this intro thread, so I can make a build journal.
