The plug and speed sensor connection got hot and melted from the alternator power leads grounding. The wires about six inches up into the harness overheated and melted. so when I unplugged it, it blew fuses from my handling that part of the harness which had the melted wires. But it started in...

  5. Is there an easy way to remove head?

Sorry if I offended you. In my oppinion that is the fast way to switch out a headgasket. I figured you wanted to know everything you should know without all the stop and go that's usually involved in switching out a head. Just trying to make it painless. *holds wickedz's hand* :sneaky: There...
  6. A few problems! Help please!

Get under the car and wipe everything down. let it idle and see if you can find the leak. If it hits it right coolant can travel down the crossmember and back to that area. check the hoses on your throttle body, water block, turbo and oil cooler. theres only so many places it can be coming from...

  13. cant go into reverse PLEASE HELP :(

Try changing out your tranny fluid. If there are metal flakes in it you could have a problem with the gears. From what it sounds like thoe its probably a stretched shifter cable, worn rubber bushings on the tranny or reverse light switch. Its either serious or not... As in live with it, repair...

  20. Gasket Opinions

I've been the razor blade route before. Is there a reason you guys don't use a gasket scraper? You know the blunt scraping type. O, and on the old headgasket the metallic looking stuff on each side it graphite right? What would happen if it got into the oil/coolant passages from when I scraped...

Yeah, budget includes the cheepies. It's got to be a three hundred dollar project. New head, head bolts, head gasket, valve cover, valve cover gaskets and other gaskets. 27. Gasket Opinions

... hmmm. Well, I really hate those fiber gaskets. And if there are problems a month from now I would happily deal with them. I'm liking the metal which would make a little blow by instead of a chunk blown out. As of this verry moment in time my soul is singing the cut corners and save money...
  28. Gasket Opinions

To me these look reusable. Any opinions on this matter? After being cleaned up a bit. They are a metal gasket and I'm not seeing any reason they shouldn't seal well. Compared to the other gaskets I have whitch are the low ball cardboard/fiber type gasket I would think they would be preferred...
  29. How much can I expect? Part out

Normally you would want to part out a car if #1 you have space to put it for a long time #2 You got it for cheap/free because someone didn't have the space #3 because you can use the parts in your car. What he said "But" WD-40 isn't a lubricant. It will actually de-lubericate. Take a walk down the spray isle at your auto parts store and grab a penetrating lubricant. I'm a stickler for lithium grease.Spraying WD-40 on electrical connectors, if you hit them with water, is supposed to suck...

Oil looks fine no milky water on the dipstick. but then again it could be in there since the oil rises to the top. but since oil level hasnt risen i would think that there is no cross over from the cooling system as it would typically level out between the two. but then again it could be a small...
