FYI before you have someone weld anything to the block, check to see if you will have that hole available between the freeze plugs for cylinder 1 and 2 on the back of the block.I'm not really up on the G4CS details, but I currently have my knock sensor in that hole in my 4G64. There was one...
See what you can do with the center console. The exhasut passes right under there, and in your case, so does the driveshaft. My girlfriend's Audi has quite a bit of the thick wooly foam matting all inside the center console, shifter, and armrest area. Up near the firewall where your pedals...
The weird thing is, it's the exact same sound from both seats at almost the exact same time (slightly offset from eachother). That makes me think it's mechanical rather than pennies or accumulated and solidified skinflakes. Not as weird as the red Henkels tweezers I found under the seat...
There is a single click coming from the seats in my spyder when I accelerate or decelerate. It is definitely in the hinge area, and it happens to both seats. I can't confirm if it is happening in each hing of each seat, but it is happening to both seats. It sounds like there a single, loose...
I just dropped the hammer on this sucker:
DeVilbiss Automotive RefinishingBut I bought it from this place:
DEV-802170 DEVILBISS GFG-670 PLUS® Gravity Gun, WITH NO CUP FOR THOSE USING PPS OR DE-KUPS.Which was the absolute cheapest I could find it. I plan on using the DeKups disposables...
I would probably catch you guys as you come down around the beltway. I 'spose we'll worry about that later on.Also, when the time approaches, we should see what the game schedule is at that place. If the ball fields get full they might gobble up our parking. It would be cool if they could...
I should be able to make it since classes *should* be over by then. I'm down for joining any cruising party headed south. I do Dulles tool road, to 495, to 95 south.HEADCOUNT:
1. DSMking90
2. 2-3 friends
3. sik4g63 (permitting my car is on the road), burgers
4. Nytescion

Did anyone consider Mach V? They have a big-ass parking lot, right across from VIP supposedly. I went there during summer and they were having a barbeque/show kind of thing. I'm sure they'd love having a bunch of reliable DSMs in their parking lot just asking for parts...
Something is not right electrically. Is everything plugged back into the ECU properly? The car absolutely will not come close to running right with the airflow circuit like that. Gotta fix that first.
I had terrible luck trying to learn how to MIG weld aluminum. In fact, I never actually was able to. My dad bought a MIG welder to use with all the stainless scrap and mild steel he had, and I didn't realize you need 100% argon for MIG welding aluminum. I was just assuming the argon/CO2 mix...
Is your MAF unplugged? MILs for IAT, Baro, and Vol Airflow circuit would help explain poor running. They are all static in the log display.Your coolant and IntTemp are also registering -74 degrees. Your throttle position is showing a static 100%?
I used some Home Depot stuff that came in a huge roll. The diameter was perfect for the stock recirc fitting, but I had some issues with the Greddy fitting (which was smaller than the stocker). You pay shipping, and I'll send you more than you can use!
I can't imagine why it wouldn't be a good idea to switch to DOHC. The SOHC setup is good at developing torque at low speeds, but you can actually FEEL the disadvantage as you go higher in the RPM range. As far as I know, the SOHC manifold was not designed with forced induction in mind.If...
I'm already not happy with the T-25, but I knew that a while ago. I have way more power than traction at this point and I've done almost no tuning with this ridiculously powerful tuning tool. Speed is a sickness, I'm just starting to sniffle (snivel?).
I don't know about fixing autos, but I helped my friend with a 98 Spyder GS swap his auto to a 5 speed. It was suprisingly easy.I doubt that's what you want, but it's an option!
Mine was between 80 and 100 pounds I would say. I was able to take a loop of cord around the front mount bolt and a bolt on the rear somewhere, and lift the while thing up with one arm. I could carry it around with two arms. I was able to stand with my foot where the rear motormount goes, with...
Which N/T FPR are you referring to? The FPR on a Spyder GS is apparently identical in fit and form to the FPR on a normal 2G turbo, except it has a slightly higher base fuel pressure.
I am a happy V3 user, and strongly recommend it. Functionality aside, ECMtuning managed to diagnose a couple of serious wiring issues in my turbo project based solely on a couple of logs and bits of information from me. They have massively great customer support.Direct Access has really...
If you have the car turbocharged, I would not try to emulate any of the maps from the stock 4G64 ECU. They are not well suited to forced induction. Use ignition tables from a 2G turbo ECU, or the fast becoming popular Evo 8 tables (I think they would be too aggressive for my car).
It need not cost you 4K. You could easily scrounge around and put together a $1000 to $1500 turbo kit if you really went bottom dollar.I spent around $3k, and right now all I could do to really raise the quality of my setup (besides building a forged bottom end and using a DOHC head) is get...
Absolutely correct. I use the RM racing rear swaybar from Mach V. They may still have a deal going on where the bars are about half price. For the front bar you should not need anything other than the bar itself. It [the RM bar] should come with new urethane mounts. You may have to cut your...
That TB looks identical to the one on a N/T Spyder, whose TPS appears the same on the outside, but will in fact NOT fit on a 2G turbo throttle body. Many Galants share the 4G64 engine with the N/T Spyder.
I'm pretty happy with it. It sits a little bit lower and cleaner than my old, nasty oil cap. At least I won't accidentally forget what kind of oil I use... :rolleyes:Mitsu part no. MN163112
$12.35 before shipping.
I just finished my turbo addition recently. Don't bother rebuilding it yet, or adding a DOHC head. Try it with the SOHC first. This site is a must-read for swapping in a GST/GSX ECU, which is really imperative if you want to have fun,:
1998 Eclipse 4G64 Spyder Performance UpgradesIf you...
Not to mention they [ECMlink] offer EPROM ECUs with a V3 package:ECMTuning, Inc.For the sake of full disclosure, I am definitely partial to DSMlink. With V3 direct access I can now control timing and fuel at pretty much any throttle position, load, boost level, or whatever other...
I'm still not sure what good it will do to take the head off. It certainly won't help with the rust on the bottom of the cylinder, below the pistons. As for any upper cylinder rust, you can't just go at it with sandpaper, or even a scuffing pad. Scuffing pads are softer grit, but the abrasive...
Well, you said you have the cams off? I guess if you can see where the tops of the valve stems are you can see that they are all in the same line (as i assume they should be, all valves should be closed with the cams removed, right?)That way you know it's not piston/valve interference, which...
The third pic doesn't look too bad. I'm concerned about the second pic though. I still maintain that this could happen to any engine that sat with an open valve, and thus the solution will not turn out to be a major drastic one.I also think that getting a penetrating lubricant in there, even...
Here is what I think:
Removing the cylinder head will undo a lot of beautiful work. How bad is the rust you can actually see? If the cylinder head has always been on the car, then any cylinder rust above the piston crown could only really have come from a valve being open. I presume you have...
A little late to the party, but...Gifts from girlfriend:
Bottle of Scotch (Oban)
Hat, Scarf, Shirts (Ruehl)
Rosetta Stone Arabic (Gonna make some DSM money with this!)
Knives (Global chef stuff)Gifts from me, to me:
Having a car with a turbo
ECMlink V3 (driving to their shop tomorrow)
Definitely toss up a picture and I can help on behalf of the 4G64.Also, I am smack in the middle of installing my turbo (finally) and I have to install a coolant reservoir from a 2G turbo. That means I'll have an old coolant bottle for sale (behind the fuse box in my avatar). You SHOULD be...
This will sound dumb, but it worked for me:Since my shoes, and therefore the skin of my feet, got filled with the little filings last time, I tried porting with just socks and flip flops. Throw the socks away when you're done, and blow off the flip flops.Done.I got my electric die...
I used the Prestone Stop Leak and it pretty much clogged every small diamter coolant hose on the car. It was my Saturn SC-2, but I'm sure would have a similar result with the DSM. I don't know about the Bars stuff, the particles look smaller than the prestone product. I would only ever use a...
I think I used the 3M can stuff on the bottom of my front bumper lip to cover up the scratches and nicks, but over time it seemed to lose its blackness and became a light black (almost grey). That's usually indicative of a lack of UV resistance.housegsx, how does the U-pol stuff come out of...
