I'm trying to find the correct procedure for adjusting my friends throttle position sensor on his 1991 awd 5spd. His ecu read CEL 14 (tps). He doesn't have a dsmlink and we are using a analog volt meter. I read that the vfaq is wrong and not to measure resistance, but to measure the voltage. I...
I had a problem passing the first time. I turned my biss screw clockwise all the way in to the point where my car stalled and then back it out just a hair. Passed with #s exactly where they should be. Probably not the proper way to go about the situation but it worked for me. If you touch the...
also in colorado and registered to a different county :D canister is removed.. oh but about your question. I dont know for sure but i could only imagine that deleting the solenoid would effect the emissions. But the canister is so hidden that i dont think removing it would raise a visible...
Thats something out of a movie hahaha i know it happens though so its the first thing i checked. The wires look fine from the lights through the engine bay and under the dash
1990 awd sat for about 4 or 5 years. Towed the car to a new location and noticed the headlights, tail lights/brake lights don't work. Neither do foglights. But the hazards still work and the gauge cluster still illuminates. The headlight motors still work also. Fuses are still good. What are the...
Ok so this might sound dumb, but i did a mostly stock rebuild on my 90 tsi over the last 5 years and finally got around to finishing it up. When i tried to start the car i got no spark on all 4 cylinders :banghead: I know the coil pack is 2 seperate packs and the chance of both of them going out...
I know i know, a picture would have helped lol. i was doing some research and came across this http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/what-size-is-that-bolt-nut-stud-fastener-1g-version.437697/ Now i just need the time to carefully study it
I have 2 bolts that are marked "11" and 2 that are marked "10" Im assuming they are motor mount bolts but not exactly sure which mounts. They look similar to
damn... ok so i hook it to the other 1. and the original terminal doesnt get anything hooked to it right? or i guess the terminal on the right connects the starter and the solenoid together... got it
I just wanted to make sure before i hook everything up tomorrow and try to start the car... is this the positive terminal on my starter? I have the negative grounded to my transmission/starter bolt. And the small wire hooked to the middle of the starter
I was told if i didn't have the car off my friends parents property by sunday jan 4th, it was going to be towed and sold for scrap metal. I tried my hardest... got the engine mounted. but now all the accessories and everything else. still have a few days of work left i think. They told me...

on a side note... does this look familiar? not sure if it was to this car http://i.imgur.com/iE4Bzfm.jpgAnd i dont know why my pics are only showing a link and not the actual picture. I been busy in the audi forums so i must be using the wrong link
Im pretty sure the intake manifold bracket is the uncircled holes in the pic. between the balance shaft bolt and the a/c bracket bolts... right in the center of the block
not sure if its been mentioned, but holset has a really cool video on their website to spread awareness of counterfeit turbos. They even go as far as to say something along the lines of "think about if your children were on a school bus that had a counterfeit holset"
So today i installed my engine and transmission back into my 1990 awd. I found 1 extra hole near the a/c bracket on the rear of the block. Im not sure if there is supposed to be anything that mounts here? Its the hole circled in red in the picture. i know the 4 blue circles are for the a/c...
I'm still curious about the spacer... Whats the point, other than removing a few ounces of weight off the crank? I mean... This is a fairly stock build. I'm not trying to run 9's in the 1/4.. Is it really that necessary?
the backside isnt filled. I think i was locating all the missing parts and cleaning stuff up when he put the oil pump on. I feel i should have done the bse myself. Yes the timing is correct, That is 1 thing that i made sure i did personally.. As tmoney said look at the oil pump. I spun the...
So my buddy was working on my oil pump while i was doing who knows what in the shop, and after the oil pump got installed i noticed he installed my balance shaft freeze plug the opposite way :banghead: I don't really see it being a issue, but i notice everybody else installed them the other way...
I took the horn off of my TurboXS RFL. It was a pain in the ass. Until I decided drill 2 holes in it to stick a screwdriver through it. Even then was tough. I ended up using a heat gun on it. And the second it cracked lose, The sweet smell of locktite
Damn. Its a mess out there haha ohwell. I'll look harder. Its gotta be there somewhere. It couldn't have gone anywhere. But this is what happens when you tear a whole car apart and a toyota truck at the same time and leave it in a giant pile for 4 years. :ohdamn: You wouldn't happen to have a...
Aha! I think you might be right on that 1. Good thing i asked before doing my timing. Is this the only cover that needs to go on before the timing? I took a look and came up with 4 shields/covers/inspection plates or whatever you wanna call them. From left to right i believe the 1st is the 1...
Thanks buddy. I know i found the exhaust cam timing cover and instantly knew that 1. but this 1 i wasn't sureI went out and checked and it doesnt seem to line up there. Am I missing a mount or something?
I bought a 2g and it kept dying on me. new battery and alt. Turned out to be where they tapped the boost gauge into the fuse box. Disconnected the gauge and suddenly my car held a charge haha
So i'm finally getting around to putting together this 1st gen that I tore apart like 4 years ago. Talk about a brain fart. Sure hope I got it all the right way HA! Everything is going smooth. Pretty much stock. Got the head rebuilt from a local machinist. Honed the block. All new gaskets and...
Little bastard children shot my rear driver side window out earlier playing with a bb-gun. Their dad says he will pay. Just wondering what a reasonable price would be to have it replaced. 1g
So I received a new balance shaft elimination kit today. I previously ordered some ebay junk and the cap for the balance shaft hole didn't fit. The new kit that I got was advertised as OEM.. I know the stub shaft is OEM because its in the mitsu sealed package.. but the Rubber coated plug is not...
I'm sure if you post in the WTB classifieds, somebody who is parting out their car would probably put them in a envelope and shipping would be like 75 cents or something... That is if you dont mind used gromets
I was desperate and just ordered a used timing cover from somebody on here. Then I was looking around for parts for a hyundai sonata, realized they also had the 4g63, and found these lower timing covers. 1 appears to be 1ga Beck Arnley 038 0265 Timing Cover Engine Timing Cover | eBay and the...
