Look up the law in Ohio for rear tail light visibility. NJ has something weird that if an officer can make out the light through a piece of copy paper at x distance, its good.
Maybe in a straight line, but will it go around a track for more than one lap as fast. Very doubtful. There is a serious difference between a cheap car modified to go fast (DSMs) and a more or less purpose built race car that happens to be street legal.Maybe in a straight line, but will it...
Welcome aboard! Love those 1st gen speed threes. Do you have a build thread on another forum? There is a TON to learn on these boards. And a TON for you to learn, especially since you are coming from a "new car" platform. You are going to find the first thing that should always be done before...
You know, everyone is hating on Honda in this thread as well as keeping to car engines. We're all forgetting that there are TONS of 4-cylinder bike engines out there.I dare you to hate on Honda after watching this:

Here's how I typically handle the girlfriend:I'll get my g/f one nice *big gift* that she's been wanting or hinting at for a while. In this case Maroon 5 :ohdamn: tickets, at least I like live music regardless who is playing. Several hundred dollars later for a pair of tickets, she gets a...
You do know this thing rolls on the same exact tires that come standard on a Prius right?Ever hear of a Mazda Miata? Dirt slow, doesn't throw a bajillion G's on the skid pad... always voted as one of the best driver's cars out there. Speed isn't everything.
Hey,As a recent grad in engineering I would recommend you see your degree through 100%. You would be surprised what an engineering degree can get you into even not in the engineering field. Most large companies that have engineering programs understand that engineering is one of the hardest...
I would guestimate that the manifolds would be a wash on price. By the time you get done purchasing 2 new wastegates, custom O2, turbo+rebuild, etc... I bet you're getting very close to the price of a upgraded EVOX turbo.
Now if only I still had my DSM to ship out to Michigan. Using the EVO X turbo is insanely awesome. I've always been jealous of the Evo guys and their stock frame turbos.Hopefully I'll have another DSM by the time you're all done working on this. Great idea!
I taught myself to do cool stuff like that off of a diving board and a trampoline years ago. I never sacked up enough to try it on the ground though LOL
Depends on what you define "max out" as. I take it the highest boost you can run before you start to get unefficient. This should be about 21 psi on a 14B if I'm not mistaken, anything there after you are really just blowing hot air. I am running EVO IX injectors with my 14B at 21 psi and it...
Yea, however the buy in and insurance cost is pretty much nothing compared to the other cars I am looking at that get better MPG's. Audi A4 Ultrasport=13K, Lexus LS430=16K(My G/F's Uncle has a real nice one).
People doing really stupid things to Jeeps... sounds like some other kind of car I know WTF lol.I'm definitely going to give it the hardcore look over. How do I tell if it has a Dana 30? Is it just going to be stamped on the rear axle??My sister has tons of issues with her Grand Cherokee...
Alright guys, I'm moving and am going to have about a 45-60 min commute to work every day. The Tsi just ISN'T going to be good for this, I've tested it out ROFL.I'm looking at getting a cheap (sub 4K)Jeep Cherokee as my do-it-all and put the Tsi on "fun car" status. I know the 4.0 Liter 6...
Bringing this back from semi-dead for my $.02.I remember reading that the 1G head can be ported out bigger then the 2G head, thusly making it better for those super high perf. applications. But the 2G head is better if you aren't porting the f*ck out of it.
I am thinking about running a few of these through the Jersey system to see if I can get them approved:FLSHME (or something that spells that using a combination on numbers ie FL5HM3)YESPLST1TSNOWT1TS###VWEATER (b/c all my friends drive slow gti's and eurobombs)and compliments of...
If your car came stock with the Infinity sound system (the one with the "tweeters" on the dashboard), then yes you need the factory amp, or you at least have to run the speaker wires from the head unit to the wire harness under neath the passenger seat.
I went to the 1/4 for the first time ever on Friday night. My goal was to hit mid 13's, the reason behind it is two fold.1. I know the car can do it running 19-20 psi on 93 octane, I wanted to see if I had the driving skills to match.2. To shut up all the stupid VW fan boi's I know with...
I'm heading out to my parents next week to spend some time with them since I'm starting my first full time engineering job shortly and its the last time I'll be able to do that for a while.I want to do some work on the car with my dad, and I have it narrowed down to two pretty simple...
Thats b/c we're all cheap DSM'ers :Dgranted I have an NGR bov and it works great. I bought it b/c I already had a greddy flange and it would have cost more to switch to a 1g flange then to buy an NGR.However, it holds ~21 psi and words great! Boost Leak tested to 25+
There is no way that kid still has the Cat on his exhaust. If you still have the Cat on its not that bad, it gets loud under accel/decel, but as for cruising or low load situations, its wasn't much louder then my ebay special exhaust. For reference I cruised around with the stock downpipe and...
I ran mine there for the better part of a year. I just switched it to right before the flex section on my DP. The thing that always annoyed me about having it in the stock location was how long the lag was for the reading. Its not too bad at WOT but its a noticeable lag while cruising
Get one of those dorky reflective things to put in your windshield, it definitely helps keep the interior temps down. Maybe get the windows tinted if that is within budget to help protect the interior. As for exterior get a garage! haha I'm just kidding. Keep it waxed, look into paint sealant...
That would be false. I'm sure his vocabulary does not possess words such as "cunning" and "produce." I see the Jersey Shore stigma has rooted itself across the country. In my former post I quoted how you stated you had a theory, which you than said is a fact, which finally stated you proved a...
Please enlighten us on this technology and science you speak of AND I would love to here this THEORY of yours that also happens to be a FACT LOL ROFL.Using the argument that horsepower increases with rpm's all else constant really is neither science nor technology, its merely presenting...
First off your RPM's are way up there, unless of course you are shooting for 1K idle; I'm assuming you do due to the cams.So on that note I can't make an informed comment about your aiflow/rev value. However, your ISCposition should be turned down a little bit, closer to a value of 30. You do...
I am having problems with my A/Fest matching my wideband during open loop and while doing a pull for data logging. In the upper RPM's I'm about 1 full A/F point off of the A/Fest ex: A/Fest=9.5 Wideband~10.5. Should I adjust the fuel sliders to compensate for this before I start messing with the...
