Kind of strange how the build journal works here but...I didn't want to be one of those guys that posted about a build only to have it go by the wayside so, in the interest of not making you guys wait the 5 plus years it took me for the build, I'm finally posting it. This forum and others have...
Twicks,
That first pic is mint and is very similar to the look I'm going for with my build! I'm going to try to tuck mine a bit more though so I don't clutter up the firewall. You're right they are a work of art minus the long wait time and two of my vc bolts not lining up, I couldn't be...
Looking great guys! I'm actually leaning towards saying with the e3 intake manifold rather than a street smim just because I hear they are great for smaller turbos like my e3 16g. I think you guys are convincing me!
I like the idea of the 2g vrsf short route fmic kit because my evo intercooler is a bit tired and it doesn't have tons of pipe. I'm trying to find out if I can make it fit my evo 2 ce9a project though and I'd really nm rather not trial and error a 400 dollar purchase. If someone could post...
And I'm guessing that the location of an fittings reduces the amount of oil escaping to your catch can. Crazy that you hear very little about such a hot item, unless I'm just missing all the threads where owners post them up.
Have there been any long term usage reports on these things? I tried asking FF on their Facebook about the lack of baffles, but never got a response. Can anyone comment?
I guess that's my concern here. They are not one in the same. I pass the grenade pin test but I fail the drill bit test. Or if I pass the drill bit test, I'd fail the grenade pin test. Should I be worried that I don't pass or fail both? I thought they were supposed to result in the same gap.
Let me start off by saying this is a 7 bolt timing belt job on an Evolution 2 (ce9a) block. I purchased all new oem dsm 7 bolt parts (timing belt, pulleys, auto tensioner, front case, etc) the only thing that remains from the evo motor is the tensioner arm and the engine mount (the only two...
I'm trying to set the tension on my evo 2 block with new auto tensioner. The issues is that when the grenade pin spins freely the gap is closer to 1/8 inch when holding the drill bit parallel to the top of the auto tensioner. That is how you are supposed to measure it right? And if so how come...
I know this is an old thread but there is very little agreement on the topic. It's strange that it's not anywhere to be found in the fsm. I found some permatex high temperature thread sealant, any thoughts? Here is from the permatex site:
OEM specified. Locks and seals threaded fittings. Resists...
Well I have the evo 2 16g now "46" and I'm wondering how much better it is to find an Evo 3 turbo. By the sounds of the above post the evo 1 and 2 turbos are garbage...
