Hello everyone,I know the title is a bit confusing but I'll explain with a bit of backstory. I recently purchased new LED headlights and a wiring conversion cable knowing I'd likely have to swap pins thinking it should be "easy".I bought these headlights and this adapter .I've tried...
Hey everyone, I just got done replacing the master cylinder and bleeding the brakes. I bench bled the system as the manufacturer recommended and verified that I didn't see any bubbles coming through the clear nipples that connect to the hoses for the remote fluid reservoir. At this point I am...
Step height is a good place to start, I also had a friend who had this exact problem with a Clutch Masters twin disc clutch. In his case one of the discs wasn't within spec despite being new and after having it swapped for another clutch it was working.I had a similar problem once when I had a...
Sorry, it is my current car in my profile, a 1990 Eagle Talon with no ABS. The pedal goes to the floor and returns with very little pedal pressure, before I turn the car on the pedal feels totally normal and hits full firmness after about 3 full pumps of the pedal.
Hey everyone,I've never experience this and my friend who was an ASE certified Automotive Technician for 10+ years wasn't sure what would be causing this either. So a bit of backstory - I recently started having my front calipers stick after about 90,000 miles on both calipers. I have had 2g...
The only way I could see seafoam doing anything to your sensor is by the carbon it caused to come loose fouled your sensor. There are ways to clean the sensors without damaging them but I don't know if it would be worth your trouble. If you had THAT much carbon you had other problems which...
Hey everyone,About a year ago I replaced my Prosport gauge with 10ish years of use with a new prosport mechanical gauge when the Prosport gauge died. One day I blew the vacuum line off and it never worked again. So today I installed a new Glowshift digital gauge. After installing the new...
Don't mess with the boost until you have something to log with. Just because someone else's car was able to do it wont mean your car will be able to.Knowing your boost level is great, so is knowing your af/r. But both only part of what you need to know. Normally I would suggest one to you, but...
If you have the money and ability to fabricate the setup why not just try it and see how it goes? Unless you are looking for advice on how to go forward with it, then why not just try? Personally I don't think twin scroll turbos would work better, if anything my guess is they would be a bit...
DSMs can be reliable. I have put 70,000 miles on mine and the only things that have really gone wrong with it are all maintenance related problems or small things most people wouldn't even consider fixing on normal cars. This however... It's a total shitbox. The owner was very clearly stuck in...
I'm glad you came to the decision you did. I dailyed my Talon for 5 years and went from a clean car with 90k miles to one that the interior is ruined (wife) and 160k miles. You would have honestly regretted it. These cars are for people who either really want to preserve them or people who want...
You don't seem to know enough yet to be turning up the boost at all. You didn't tell us what turbo you are doing it on and don't seem to understand why that would matter.Smaller compressors typically will produce hotter intake temperatures at higher boost levels and end make less power. If...
I would assume the people who are suggesting you delete it are thinking you can just run out and buy ECMLink for your car and run emulation in place for the sensor. This would be a possible workaround if your car was a 4g63 motor instead of the 420a as ECMLink does not support the 420a.This...
ECMLink wont be your problem. I would imagine most of the guys who are making over 1,000hp have been tuning cars for a very long time. They probably use other tuning methods that came out before ECMLink because that is what they learned on. It's also a cross-platform ECU so it is also likely...
At this point I would do a compression test and a leak down test. I would also check the oil to see if there is anything metallic. If you ran it with no coolant and oil that long you may have done some damage. If you don't already have it, I VERY HIGHLY recommend the Jay Racing timing belt kit...
I have to warn you. DO NOT use his method of resurfacing a block or head. It works great on older low power engines because they don't have anywhere near the same pressures pushing on the gasket. If you use his method, especially on a turbo engine you will most likely blow a gasket. Machining...
What you are saying sounds like a blown head gasket.I'd drain the oil and see if it looks milky. Oil and coolant mixing creates a milky like substance.I wouldn't drive the car until you know what's wrong with it.Even though the video states it. This isn't the correct way, but it is a way...
If the blow off valve wasn't recirculated that will cause your car to stall out and die at idle and between shifts. I'm going to guess that it is just this. The most common place for a boost leak besides the obvious loose couplers is the throttle body shaft seals. 91-99 all use the same size...
I was looking through the FSM to see if any of the fuses would make sense. All of the fuses connected to the ignition switch all work. But I will say, that my head unit sometimes has problems displaying properly, but the sound is always fine. Maybe it's not always getting enough power?I also...
I'll do a little bit of a back story.First the light on the AC side of the HVAC controls stopped working, the bulb actually burned out but I didn't replace it because I was having problems locating bulbs. Next the lights on the defrost/AC switch stopped working, actually the AC one stopped...
All the hardware stores that I know of in my area, recently got bought out and became corporate, so they don't really carry a good selection of hardware. Our Home Depot was always kind of crap, and our Lowes stopped selling a majority of the smaller bolts a couple years ago. I was hoping I could...
So I've been looking for a vendor that is selling these bolts. I checked Google and all of the sites listed either sold out, or their site isn't working.Any ideas?*edit* I thought I had put this in the post, but I guess I didn't. MD614159
My EGR had failed and I didn't want to pay to replace it. I just put a block off plate between it and the valve. If your EGR is working properly there isn't much of a benefit of using a block off plate. The only downside is the exhaust gas is recycled making the intake get dirty quicker, but it...
You are exactly right. Mostly everyone I know that owns or owned a DSM does not want to spend the money to do things right.I like to do things right, and I like to do them well. I might not do perfect work, but I never intentionally cut corners either. I have honestly only ever met one other...
There are different color gear fluids that could come out different colors. The only thing that I know will normally cause grey discolorization of the fluid is aluminum contamination. Is there any way you can contact the previous owner and try to figure out what gear fluid he used?
So for years now I have been having off and on problems depending on outside temperature where my car will boost fine but still feels slower than it should. Even at just 90,000 miles and a well maintained car that was never really beat on before or after I have owned it, it just felt a bit...
First off this is for a 1990 Talon. The 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994 have a "jumper" not a relay.A few years back I had a issue and pulled the jumpers out of a 91 and a 93 Talon. I don't know where I put them after moving so I was hoping to replace the relay or find out what the name of the...
I hate to restate what someone has said before me, but just to hammer in the point. Do a boost leak FIRST! This problem is usually related to a boost leak. There are LOTS of places you can possibly be leaking boost. If that does not fix your problem, come back and let us know.
Check your gaskets around your turbo and exhaust manifold and check the bolts as well. If you have a large leak you can have low or even no boost situations which will lead to very bad performance and the smoke could be caused by exhaust gas leaking out. I had a VERY small hole in my O2 housing...
Have you already got the stuff for a 2.3? They tend to not make as much power as they should. Lucas from English racing suggested to my friend to instead do a 2.2 destroker with the 2.4 block. As for the housing I hear a lot of different opinions from different people. Depending on if you want...
Already tried that and they don't list the HVAC bulbs unfortunately. They list pretty much everything else though.I used them for my past couple orders and they have been great. They did send me one empty package though, I just sent them an email and they send the new bulb out with no problem...
So I have my dash and gauge cluster all taken apart to upgrade to LEDs since the OEM bulbs are finally burning out after 26 years and I'm wondering what bulbs go in the HVAC controls. The 2g bulbs are smaller than the 1g bulbs so that guide does not work. I believe they are NEOx bulbs but I'm...
So a quick update. I used the old and new rotor to make sure it wasnt either. But the rotor will go on all the way on one side but sits about a 1/16th of an inch off.
My car does not have ABS.Just a bit of an update. I removed every stud and replaced them with new ones. I checked to make sure they went in straight and the rotor slides on fine but still sits a bit off. So I got a new rotor because they are cheap and to verify that it wasn't the rotor. I'm...
A couple weeks ago I was changing my alternator for the millonth time. When I was putting on the tire I had a wheel stud break off while torquing the lug nuts. No big deal, I bought a new one and installed it. But the rotor was a bi*** to get off.So after I got it all put together I was...
