I had a similar experience except mine seemed much more violent by description. Felt like mine driveshaft was loose and wobbly and driving in gear seemed to cause it to buckle at certain speeds. What I did was changed out my driveshaft carrier bearings and my motor mounts. That solved my problem...
I'm no electrical or circuit board specialist so I don't have input on the caps but as for cleaning I'm sure you can use a bottle of circuit board contact cleaner from Radio Shack.
I'm on my second ecu in my TSi. The first one I had had caps leaking everywhere. The problems that that caused for me were major fuel cuts, horrible idle, and most of the time refusing to start.
Yeah, you could. The shop that did the r12 recharge gave me an outrageous quote for the swap so I never went back. I'm sure it'd be much cheaper if you do it yourself.
No it sounds like something electrical clicking and yes its when the key is on the ON position. I just pulled the ecu and it looks like 2 of the capacitors are leaking. I assume its time for a new one. Where can I get one for a reasonable price? I can't find a 1g turbo dsm in any Tucson junkyard.
Ok, thanks snowborder. Now that I know that its a fuel pressure regulator, I need to know whether this by itself will keep the car from running. I also noticed that my ECU (box under the radio) is clicking which really worries me.Yes. the clicking and vibrating go away but the check engine...
Unfortunately, I don't know what to search because I have no idea what it is. It is clicking and vibrating and my car will NOT start. I also have a check engine light lit. The plug in question is the electrical connections in the picture.
you might wanna try motoguys garage. its an ecu shop located in illinois and they ecus for dsm's. i came across them on ebay as i was looking for a replacement and i believe it costs in the neighborhood of $200.
im sure its not the clutch. my dads a seasoned stick-shift driver and knows what a clutch will smell like. the insurance part is the biggest reason as to why i dont drive my talon very much. i just drive it enough to keep rats out.the coolant was pretty low the first time i noticed the...
when i take my talon out to drive around town (which isn't often since it's not insured) occasionally i will see some puffs of white smoke coming out of the hood on the passenger side. however by the time i pull over and pop the hood, the smoke is gone but there is a strong stench coming from...
so i gave a friend a ride in my talon and he notes that he doesnt hear my bov. it never really has come to my attention but i dont think ive ever actually heard it myself. i know this is quite the noobish question but its not normal for the bov to not make sounds right? my friend suggested it...
reliable dsm requires lots of love and maintanance and luck LOL . i just use this site for pointers when i get lost or need help, lots of friendly people on here.
i have a 1g but my car acted similarly right before the harmonic balance pulley came apart and melted my timing cover. though it didnt hiss, just shook violently, idled rough and had the boost gauge reading randomly
sorry for the delay, ive had a combination of bad weather and a hell of a lot of school work. anyways, i was talking to my uncle and he said that the front passenger axle shaft came loose as he was working on it while i was at school. could this be why my cars clunking?
ok, these joints are a little new to me so how would one check if its still functioning correctly? and if the strut plate is the upper part that is accessed through the hood, that was the part we dug out of the local junkyard because mine was pretty damaged.
i recently replaced the stock struts with some cheap monroe struts. (i'm broke and my dad didnt want to spend too much money on my car.) anyways, the rust damage was pretty bad so we had to replace the top parts too. (strut mounts?) the rubber parts inside were pretty worn down and slightly...
so my uncle was in town for the week and he decided to help me fix up my dsm =). so far were just doing brakes and struts. unfortunately, since i got my car from my uncle in illinois, there is extreme rust everywhere so pretty much every aspect of the old front suspension is rusted, minus the...
ill try to get some pictures in the morning but the screws that my uncle sent me seems too big and as far as i can tell, theres absolutely nothing in the hole right now.
