The same thing is happening to me right now and happened almost 2 years ago. My Spec clutch ended up spitting a spring out. I've read that it could be caused by an alignment issue between the engine and transmission.
A guy at my local dsm shop was shocked to find the splash guard that goes in-between the sub frame and the frame rail on the drivers side that covers the crank pulley area. :boring:
My commute is 45 minutes of freeway with many overpasses and it never opens unless I mean to. Sure, if I pass someone in a hurry I can open it up but even then I'm just being overly aggressive since it goes plenty fast before the waste gate even begins to open.If any of you are worried about...
I'll be getting rid of this sometime this year either selling it complete or parting it out depending on how much it goes for.1993 Eagle Talon TSI with 174k miles and no rust, ~35k on the 6 bolt shortblock since getting 2G pistons/1G rods, BSEK, and 3G Lifters. ~3k miles since head...
Let it sit some more, it's been well over a month now. Still don't have the motivation to diagnose the issue since I'm almost positive I know what it is(TB skipped). In the mean time my WRX has been extremely reliable, wish I could say the same for my Talon... :(
:confused:Couldn't possibly be the radio cranked up, passengers talking your ear off, kids throwing a fit, cell phones, or any other number of things going on inside the vehicle could it? Nah, must be the cruise control that causes inattention.I guess you don't get those kind of drivers...
Hopefully another problem, like LiquidX said it could be your oil filter housing in which case:FFWD Connection - Race Injuns That Will Freeze Your BrainYou can do like I did and get rid of any possibility of it ever occuring again. Be sure to flush the oil as best you can out of the...
It was on the car when I got it last year. Jusmx141 is the guy who originally bought it, rebuilt it, and sold it to one of the previous owners of my car.
Check your intake and clean if necessary, and clean up your j pipe as well.Follow this walk-through to install a cheapy catch can to eliminate it as a source of the oil.Install a catch can for your DSM (2G)If you still get oil your turbocharger will need to be rebuilt. If you need...
It very well could be the turbo, but your getting ahead of yourself since there are other places the oil can be coming from. If you still have your valve cover breather hose hooked up to your intake without a catch can that is the most likely source of the oil.Do a search and you'll have all...
I'm not sure what the difference is between a Blouch 18G and my plain old ported MHI 18G, but I LOVE my turbocharger. Before I rebuilt the top end it had a choppy tune and was still a blast to drive, and had plenty of top end. It spools quick enough that in 5th gear @ 55mph, which is what I...
This.I bought a used head from a local shop that was damn near virgin since the entire head warped and my machine shop didn't have the equipment to bring the cam bores back in line.
And the machinist he had do the work said that finish is ~12-16, which if he is able to grab anything with his nail it clearly isn't near that smooth since that would be like the surface of a magazine or a plastic spoon. I'm not saying Bogus is wrong, but what I'm getting at is he should call...
I vote you shouldn't listen to a bunch of different people with varying experience on an online forum. Try getting in touch with a shop(try one of the vendors, Darren @ FFWD was extremely helpful when I did mine) who do these things day in a day out. Just because a few people here have had...
I try to but 2 months after getting it a clutch spring retainer broke and it was down for 2 months for that, and recently for over 6 months after my head lifted while getting tuned. But I did have another car to drive during that time so I was able to take my time and do other things I wanted...
Register and then PM Ligo12 on Dallas DSM, he owns Mudpit Performance and burns quite a few chips. He has a solid reputation on that forum and I've dealt with him in the past, always really helpful...
This.I've had my Joe P. MBC for over a year now and I love it. I ordered the inline version and he was out so he sent me a Pro-Z which is $25 for no extra charge. They also come with a lifetime warranty...
I masterbate fervorously to pictures of the Progressive lady while downing gallons of Rockstar to keep my energy up.Unfortunately I'm too damn tired to care when Tuners comes back up for at LEAST a few days...
Aren't the numbers slightly lower for a 1G? I don't know the exact numbers but the one that stands out is the CEL light being somewhere around 220 for a 1g since they run a bit cooler...
I know how you feel, it took me almost 3 months to get it up and running after that. It took forever to get the motivation to finally get it back on the road.I'm on 6 months now for a lifted head, happened only 2 months after the clutch so as you can imagine I REEEEEEEALY don't have ANY...
A spring on your clutch disk might have popped out, same thing happened to my spec last year. Had it rebuilt and now it's good as new...Went from this:To this:Only cost $150...
When it comes on after the car idles, does it ever turn back off while driving?First things first though, get it to a parts store that does free scanning and see what they pull up so we know what we might be dealing with...
It won't be too much longer before I get mine back on the road, just have to find a place to get some head work done at. Before the head lifted while getting tuned it was at 27psi and pulled very hard according to my tuner, can't wait to get it back to him and see what it will do.It's just...
I did a quick look on the website, and they no longer have the step by step progress of the black neon. This pic says a little bit about what I was talking about. That's all I can find...
Sorry for the late reply, I forgot I posted in this thread! No headgasket, they pulled everything out the bottom, and swapped to billet rods and forged pistons, and shoved it back in...
Hahn Racecraft did this with that black neon that set all those records way back in the day. They took it into the 10's IIRC before finally pulling the motor for a proper rebuild.
While for a student I'm sure that is pretty good money for such little work, but try being a process operator on a smooth running reforming unit in a refinery. You'd be disgusted at how much we get paid for how little we work...Just saying...EDIT: Looks something like this, the big tall...
Little late to the party, but when I lived in Harris County, all they did was hook the car up to a scanner and check for whatever, and then they did a safety inspection.
Register on the Turbonetics forum and post the serial number in this sectionTech Support - Turbonetics Owners Club & Forumand they will identify it pretty quick. I posted my request at about 9:30 at night and by 9:30 the next morning I had an answer...EDIT: Or if you can get me the...
If he seriously has everything you say he does, tell him to put money into that rear end before he blows the shit up, quick style. Those weak ass 10 bolts can be destroyed with stock power, drag radials, and an overzealous left foot. And if he is wanting to do HIDs, tell him to retro the shit...
Me and a friend changed my CAS on the side of road in about 15 minutes start to finish, and it was 16* outside at the time.Pay a friend with a truck to go get it or tell him you'll help him with his taxes, you can rent a u-haul trailer for cheap and then you can get it back home and work on...
