Oh I'm not doubting it. Just trying to figure out any options now. I have a spare set of 6 bolt stock rods so maybe I'll tinker with some removal and install methods and see what happens.
I wonder then if I could make something that could press the bolt out and be less likely to deform anything. I certainly don't want to go to town hammering on it or anything. So how does this compare to using ARP main bolts then? You are supposed to line bore those as well. Is this mostly...
So I had a total brain fart and I picked up ARP rod bolts and was going to swap them in my 6-bolt bottom end while I had the pan off just to be safe since I'll be pushing the bottom end pretty hard. The head is still on it and I didn't have any plans to pull the head right now. I didn't think...
I've been seriously thinking about doing this. I haven't done research into the right size super though. It sounds like the M90 would be too large for the 2.0, is that right? This was my original thought just because it would be easy to find one and I can get it for about $200-$300. I'm...
Focus ZX3 AKA FrankenFocus (yes it will be green when I'm done). Doing 6 bolt and possibly 2.3 build with a 2g head and electronics. AWD with an 8.8 rear end and likely grab and IRS out of a t-bird or something with a similar width. Still need to research that part. I'm going for torque over...
Not "for" autocross but more for a general street build. But it will see the autocross courses just to go out and have fun. It is a car but not a mitsu. I want people to go "huh" when I open the hood. Hopefully it works out like I'm planning. I was thinking of starting a thread on here but...
That should work nicely. I'm getting ready to start building a 6 bolt here soon. Not a DSM but it will be 4G63 powered and AWD so it will be a fun toy.
*Previous Owner here*I'm sorry that the car had an issue. About a year prior, I had the o2 short out and it did some really weird stuff. Luckily I had the wideband in there so I could see that it was going really lean from time to time. Did you get any pictures of the engine damage? Just...
I talked to him again yesterday and he said he hasn't gotten time to add this to his website yet. I'm waiting to put this on until I can get a matched throttle body, plus putting an air conditioner in my garage has been more of a pritority at the moment.
I was looking at my intake and I notice I wasn't using some of the mounting tabs so I'm gonna give it back to him this weekend and have him shave off those too. Hope to have some intstalled pics early next week.
Sorry, my bad. If he gets some business through this place I'm sure I could get him to become a supporting vender. He mostly does stuff with bikes, but is wanting to branch off into cars as well. If anyone wants the info, let me know and I'll send it to you. I'm working with him to come up...
Nothing more than appearance at the moment. I was talking to him about porting and whatnot, but he doesn't have any major tooling for anything else. I gave him a list of items he needs to work on so I can have a matched set but since I don't have any extra parts he will have to source some...
Hey, I just wanted to let eveyone know what I picked up from a local guy. He shaved and painted two of my intakes. I have one up for sale in the classifieds and here are pics of the other one which I'm keeping for my car. He doesn't have a site up yet, but is looking to have it up in a couple...
I'm going to pull mine all apart tomorrow and see if I can come up with a solution. I was looking at it tonight and it looks like there is some kind of plastic guide that keeps the window straight. I might be able to make some new pieces.
Mine has a similar problem but I know it's the tracks. I pulled the regulator tonight and I could barely move the window by itself. A little wd-40 did the trick, but I've cleaned mine out many times in the past. I think the rubber run is just old and needs to be replaced
Mine is making noise too. If I pull back against the shifter then the noise will go away. Mine sounds more like a bearing. Being tapered bearings that is probably the problem. I'm hoping to pull to the cover this weekend and see what I see.
Are you sure you put the cluct in the right direction? Not sure on the 2g if there is any kind of inspection plate, but it would be worth looking at just to make sure.
Your oil pressure is just barely higher than mine, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Did you say you are running stock oil lines to the turbo? If so, then It's probably not the oil pressure to the turbo. My car idles at 18 inches of vacuum if I remember right. It could just be oil...
What color is the smoke? You could be just blowing some carbon out of the exhaust or the car may just be on the rich side. If your going to get a wideband soon, I would go ahead and get it first and see how that looks.
Its just an on/off switch. Get in digikey and find something that will work. The Shack probably has something too. you might need to tap the throttle body so that it will work. You could always make a small bracket to hold it if needed.
It depends on what kinda of muffler you have. Like a few people have said, a straight through muffler will keep the noise down and still give you flow. I doubt you will have any problems with boost creep. I don't know what your mods are, but I doubt most people need 3" exhaust. Some yes, but...
Source the problem for the injector code. If that doesn't go away, then go back and recheck your work. Is this the same sound the car made before you changed the injectors? That question hasn't been answered yet and could hold a key. If it isn't, did you unplug any of the injectors? Also...
I like the overall look of yours. I'm going to try to tuck my muffler up under the car. I just need to make a 4" to 2 1/2" adapter, then probably use a 3" tip. I don't like the look of the can sitting there. Going to try to move it under the rear seat area.OP, are you just looking for...
He was making the same assumption that I was. You replaced the lifters because they were ticking. If this is the same noise you had before you replaced the lifters, then you probably didn't need to.Pull the code...
Drain the oil and check for metal...Always find the problem before you...
Funny, I was just messing with this today too. My catch can also had a lot of condensation in it. Enough that it froze and plugged up the hose. The pressure pushed oil past the turbo seals and made it smoke REALLY bad. My catch can isn't hooked up up to the intake, only the valve cover. I...
Anymore on this? I think I'm going to start picking up parts. I like this idea better than DSMLink. Plus I can sell off my old ECU and make some money back.
Have you poked around to see if they are just filled with junk from when the motor was redone? I haven't looked at mine to see where the mount goes, but I can see some flat spots on the motor where it looks like the mount could bolt to. If you want, I can get some shots of mine tomorrow and...
You have to remember that "normal" conditions includes some wear and play. They won't seperate with some play, but any ball joint will seperate with exessive wear, doesn't matter whose it is. I've seen it on many makes and models, they will all come apart if you let them go. The recall fixed...
Is this a common result of crankwalk? I'm looking at the pics and I'm guessing that the rod bearing just gave you the finger and ran away. The end of the rod is discolored, so it got REALLY hot. The wear on the thrust bearing is less than I had on mine when I pulled my engine down. I just...
Grab a pick and see if you can spin the bolt out before you go trying to drill it or anything. If it was over torquing or a bad bolt that caused it to break, then most of the time the bottom of the bolt will spin out very easily. If it was the threads that got stuck, then you will need to...
If you haven't had them done before, then yes they would generally replace them. I'm just saying that people are thinking they get lifetime replacement of ball joints. Everyone has to remember that most of these were done when the vehicle has low miles on them, like 40 or under, maybe 60 tops...
I was at a dealer and did a ton of these. The problem is they were going out at low mileage. They fixed the problem and now you have high mileage ones going out and people are comming back to the recall. I'm not sure the details anymore since I've gotten out of the service industry, but I...
Car decided to start smoking like there was not tomorrow this morning. Even got pulled over, a police escort, and a warning this morning trying to get back home. Thanks DSM...guess what I know I'm doing this weekend.
I was referring to the ring itself, not that land. Either way, if there is a chunk of the ringland or a chunk of ring sitting there bouncing around while the engine is running, either could get pulled between the piston and wall and damage both. I've seen both happen before, more often in off...
I like it. Although us turbo guys are going to have to come up with something different since the SMIC is right where you put your washer bottle. I love my lack of power steering. I depowered it on purpose. Now as soon as the front end lets go on a spirited turn, I can feel it. Keeps the...
Similar. That one doesn't use any oil. The one I was looking at was still oiled, but it was self contained. The also used ceramic bearings. If I find the link again I'll post it.Found the link

I just tell everyone to listen to the lyrics. The lyrics are the message. The style is the medium. Different mediums reach different people. People are supposed to spread the word in away way they can. Those people who say that someone is going to hell because they listen to a certain style...
I was talking with some people about turbos the other day and we got to talking about sealed setups. I can't remember who was making it, but it was completely sealed. The oil tank was built into the compressor housing. I was wondering if anyone ever messed with this on a TD05. Since it is...
If you really REALLY wanted to use it, you could build a manifold and possibly mount the turbo on the top instead of the bottom. Basically taking the manifold/turbo assembly and flipping it over. You would need to drop it down some and make it a long ram manifold, but it might work. Going to...
So tattos and screaming makes you a satanist? Pick up a few Skillet CDs and check out the lyrics. Many of the songs are praise songs. Even the ones that aren't deal with life lessons in a positive light. Another good one is Kutless. Same boat, some soft songs some pretty hard, but all good.
