  1. Cleanest DSMS...

Threads like this make me miss my car... but she's making a comeback!
  2. Rebuild Underway

Well, it's been nearly two years since my 1997 GST Spyder overheated (and detonating). It's also been nearly two years since I've posted in these forums but... after of lot deliberating with myself (and bank account)... I'm BACK!Just started the rebuild process this weekend and I look forward...
  3. 2006 DSM Calendar - we need photos to fill it! Post Entries here

Yeah it used to breathe fire... now it spits critical motor parts. it's being parted out, rebuilt and sold (or MAYBE kept around close to stock as a joy-ride).I'm guessing this is the picture you're referring to. It was taken at sunrise just before the picture at the pier.I trimmed...

  5. Wastgate or BOV?

unless you are running an external wastegate or an exteral dump off of your downpipe, you won't be able to "hear" your wastegate. It was your BOV.
  6. My FP Green...Does this look ok??

I just installed an FP Green on my car last month. And I'm not sure if that's a red or not. The turbo inlet could look gigantic due to the angle of the picture. I know a couple pictures of the green before I installed it came out the same way. Only way to check is measure the inlet.... 3"... you...
  7. Interior Color Scheme...What is your opinion??

I had some yellow accents in my interior (gallery), but ditched all the color scheming and went silver and black.
  8. Post Your Egine Bay Color Schemes

From back in '02 when I had the yellow theme under the hood and inside the car. Now it's just silver/black/polished, and much cleaner.
  9. Spyders post pics, let's see them.

Here's a quick shot I took after the install with my Dad's 2.0mpxl camera
  10. Spyders post pics, let's see them.

Hey guys. Thanks for the compliments, they are truely appreciated. Makes me think twice about selling it. I have the full size of that photo (2048 x 1536), along with the rest of my gallery photos, and most of Brendons as well. I have the tunnel shot on my desktop at the moment. None of my pics...
  11. Comments after 6-bolt swap

I had to shim it with 4 washers to keep the damn thing quiet.
  12. Comments after 6-bolt swap

That can't be the case, as I had the turbo set at 10psi before it walked. However, I'm guessing it laying around for 5 months caused it to no longer function.
  13. Comments after 6-bolt swap

I have hit full boost, which was at 18psi, in first gear a couple of times. It opens and closes fine with the actuator shimmed between the bracket and the turbo. However, when I adjust the MBC to lower the boost to 6~8psi, I got on it in first and it doesn't open until 18psi. I backed the bolt...
  14. Comments after 6-bolt swap

Drove the car today for the first time since I started the new 6-bolt. I'll get a few pics when I find my camera. A couple comments/questions about the new set-up. This SBR FMIC is purely badass. I snapped numerous necks cruising down the road. However, I have my turbo set-up for an external...
  15. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

Then what are your opinions on 7-bolts assembled from the factory sans torque plate that have yet to walk, nor show any signs of walking? :rolleyes:Fact are facts. Statistics are statistics. Opinions are opinions. Suggestions are suggestions. By all means, he doesn't have to follow mine or...
  16. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

Not EVERY ENGINE suffers from the same piss poor design as our beloved 7-bolt 4g63t... while it is POSSIBLE for ANY motor to walk, your point doesn't hold up, as you don't see the F-body forums with "Help!!! ticking coming from my 350 and the clutch pedal won't come back up!!!"My advice...
  17. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

IF it gives a CEL, it throws it because the 2g ECU rely on the crank angle and cam angle sensors to interpret data. If you rig the 1g CAS to act as both signals, it may not satisfy some 2g ECUs. Though, the vfaq says it tends not to bother 97+ 2g DSMs as often, there is a mod to keep the ECU...
  18. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

FYI buddy, I JUST did it. You ask for advice from people who have done the swap, then dismiss what they tell you and say you want 'a clean job' and dont want to 'hack' anything. Here's what you're 'hacking'.*Shave a right angle into the front 2g motor mount for water pump clearance. *Trim...
  19. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

Sorry man, but you are utterly clueless as to how easy it is to drop a 6 bolt into a 2g. Good luck with the rebuild, or at least better luck than mine.:thumb: :dsm:
  20. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

Funny thing is, I used to be one of these 7-bolt owners marching around screaming "overrated!!" as well, saying that it's not likely, talked about too much, defending 7-bolts, saying "well 6-bolts walk to", etc etc etc... until mine walked. Things change when it happens to your motor. As for...
  21. Building 7 bolt - need details for reliability

I do too. His name is Adam. Notice my name is Adam. Yeah, me. I'm in the middle of a 6-bolt swap now. If I would have known more at the time when I rebuilt the 7-bolt, I wouldn't have rebuilt the 7-bolt. To each his own. Good luck
  22. Shift Cables BACKORDER for 4 weeks now!

I bought a set from DSMmotorsports about two weeks ago. They arrived 3 days later.
  23. 2g aftermarket rods &pistons in a 1g?

You'll definatly need new rods. 2g rods to not fit the journals on a 1g crank, they are much smaller. 2g pistons can be machined to fit 1g rods, which I just recently had done. THey bore the wrist pin hole, narrow the pin end of the rod, and rebush them for the wrist pins. However if you can...
  24. 14B dyno record

Bullshit, huh? Here's the dyno sheet. read it and weap. And if you still don't believe I ran 10psi, given the number of witnesses from South Fla DSM that were at the dyno organized by members of the club, then I really don't give two sh!ts... though, had you looked at my mods list, you would...
  25. tubular exhaust manifold

He wasn't saying stock exhaust is good for mid 12's, rather making a point. Just because one car with one set-up runs XX.X @ XXX.XXmph with this one part doesn't mean mine or yours or anyone elses will achieve the same results.
  26. 14B dyno record

I laid down 266whp @ 10psi on 93 octane. Stock sidemount intercooler, stock fuel pump, stocks injectors, no AFC. It will be interesting to see what I can do on the 14b with a 255 HP pump, 750cc's, SAFC II and my SBR FMIC...
  27. Michael Jackson got food poisoning....

you ruined the joke. it's supposed to be:McDonalds is coming out with a new sandwich in honor of Michael Jackon called 'The McJackson'. It's 45 year old meat in between two 12 year old bunsQ: Why does Michael Jackson like twenty-nine year olds?A: Because theres twenty of them.Q...
  28. my tranny is FUBAR

It's more than likely your shift cables. I had the crimp on one of the cables come off and cause my 2nd and 4th gear to do the same thing. You put it in gear, but you can't FEEL it engage. You can either recrimp the cable, which is a PITA. I did it once, but it broke loose again. Only other...

  36. 2g wiseco's in 6-bolt

my DSM walked, and i'm in the process of building a 6-bolt. i have wiseco pistons that were in my 2g. i plan on buying a set of eagle or scat forged rods (preferably eagle). for proper fitment, would the rods need to be machined just as 1g rods need to be machined to accomodate 2g pistons, as...
  37. Is your car down , if yes

1 - one week so far. but it will be much longer before she's up again (crankwalk). at least, not up on jackstands. i've gone two months without once, and if i added up the downtime in the two years i've had her, it would probably be a total of 3.5-4 months :thumbdown

  40. CAM alternatives to HKS?

red is 3rd gear, first pull. blue is 4th gear, second pull, nice and hot :thumbdown
  41. CAM alternatives to HKS?

266whp @ 10psi on 14b. goes insanely lean due to stock fuel set-up and fuel cut. still picked up assloads of power after 5k.
  42. CAM alternatives to HKS?

webcams streetgrind. i didn't have to "dial 'em in". check out the dyno sheet for results, especially between 5k-6k rpm (before i hit fuel cut)... see sig for details.oh... and as for them 'dog-ear'ing, they don't make regrinds anymore. here's a pic after 20k+ miles
