    it's funny you mention that. surprisingly, yes the oil filter was left in, because i didn't have a spare at the time. Also it was definitively not run any more than 35 seconds. i know it was around 30 seconds and then i instantly turned it off. thankfully nothing has seized...yet.

    im sorry. i should have said that it was stock with 7.8:1 compression pistons. i do understand the great importance of octane with boost; especially with higher compression pistons. im also sure that tighter air intake hoses that allowed less air in, helped my situation out as well.

    oh sorry they were the two intake valves on number two cylinder and timing was perfect. This may have nothing to do with it but at the time i had no torque wrench so i tightened the cam caps hand tight. other than that i think i could have been aging valve springs (190000 miles on junkyard head)
