You can always cut the muffler off and replace it with a "name brand" one. This will change your exhaust note quite a bit. A proper resonator or a hi-flow cat is good for killing that rasp. Do you have a laptop? Buy an OBD2->USB cable for $30 and monitor what the sensors are telling you. At least PCMScan works great for this.
