Hi guys,My friend has a '91 Galant VR-4 and I promised to source him a brake booster repair kit (OEM part # MB587967). Oemmitsubishiparts and several other sites had it in their catalogue for a bit over $100 but when I tried to order it they all told me that they can't get it anymore...
I'll borrow this thread so I won't have to make a new one.The stock sway bars (especially rear) are quite worn and rusty. They need at least new bushings, so while we are at it we might as well change the sway bars too.Does anyone have experience on Godspeed sway bars? They are $160 shipped...
Ok, this is going forward. The wiring is done, but the goddamn ISCM won't move.At the moment we have connected it like this (ISCM pins from left to right, looking at the connector in the motor itself - locking clip upwards):MS -------------- ISCMX2 (Coil 1A) ---- 1
X3 (Coil 1B) ---- 4
X4...
I know this thread is a couple of months old, but I just wanted to say that mostly everything that bastarddsm has said is correct. Here in Finland the situation is roughly the same as in Germany, E85 is 60-70% cheaper than gasoline. Several people in Mitsubishi Club Finland have gone for E85 in...
Thank you sir! :thumb: $100 shipped here, but if they fit nicely then they're worth it. They are rather thin though (4mm).Anyone know where to get well-fitting thick, plain black mats with studs underneath? If I managed to find that kind of set for cheap I'd prefer that though, since custom...
I know this thread is 2 years old, but is this eBay seller still around? I've been searching for mats like these for ages. And yes, I'd pay $80 for these in a heartbeat if I knew where to get them. :)
Magnaflow sells a good high-flow cat for our cars. It's only 2.25" but doesn't restrict much (at least with mild-tuned car, ie. NA or below 8psi boost). Got it from eBay dirt cheap, it was like 70-80 bucks or something like that.Edit: Mitsubishi Eclipse Magnaflow Catalytic Cat Converter | eBay
OK, now the car gets spark and runs on all 4 cylinders, but the idle is now the problem so I'll just make a new thread.Has anybody had success getting their 420a to idle correctly? We have MS2 (MS-I Extra v2.2 with a MS2 daughterboard) and we are desperately trying to reach a good steady...
There is always a possibility. It seems strange though that the problem occurs in cylinders 1 and 2, because the coil pack has two parts that drive cyls 1&4 and 2&3.Anyways, check your coil pack with a multimeter. That msd coil is not that good as msd products are usually. Also, how...
Semi-offtopic: Save your money on proper coilovers that include both new spings AND shocks. Never go with those "coilover" sleeves. They might give you a lowrider look for cheap but the handling of the car will suffer drastically. In my country those sleeve "coilovers" aren't even legal and I...
Bwahahaha!!!!Reminds me of one "for sale" ad that I saw about one Corvette some years ago. The ad text went like this:"A car that for sure turns heads everywhere. At least one (1) woman has been seducted with this car (100% verified). Possible exchange to a less than 5yr old Volvo V70 with...
You should be looking at 1g DSMs that MIGHT have same or at least close parts that can be fitted. 2g is out of option.I'd say your best bet though would be 89-92 Galant VR-4 parts: at least VR4 shocks and springs can be fitted to your car as bolt-on (my friend has them in his '91), so I guess...
Why, oh why am I reading this now and not like 3 weeks ago when we hadn't installed the belts yet. :banghead: That little demon of a tensioner is squealin' like mad.Well, luckily the splash shield is still off the car from that side. Gotta make this mod asap.EDIT: We have a BOMZ UDP in...
...And a bad ignition module it was. Loaned another one from a friend and tried with it - problem gone. Runs strong on all 4 cyls. :rocks:Thanks for everyone, now it's tuning time!
Goddamnit. Everything has been checked. We have tried both the current processor and a brand new MS2 daughterboard. Plus the leds are blinking.Ignition wiring has been checked. It seems like we'll have to recheck though. The ignition module is the only thing we haven't tested. Is there a way...
Pictures can be found here: Pictures by DaJackal86 - PhotobucketIt is a v2.2 board, but I don't know how it has been assembled. Paul, can you tell me which pins should we use just by looking at these pictures?
My friend has been off town the whole weekend so I haven't gotten a chance to get the MS from him. Going to sleep now, but I'll try to fetch it tomorrow and take the pictures of the board asap in the morning so that in the afternoon we could get into fixing the problem!
Do the eBay headlights ever have DOT approval? How about the lack of adjustment that "my dreamt dsm" mentioned, is that true too? My gf's car would need new headlights but they must have both adjustment and DOT marks on them since the inspection is really tight in our country. (Personally I...
And this has now been confirmed. MD091057 and MO4671065 are the same part. The only difference was that spare part had a 13mm socket when the OEM one had 12mm. So the 4g63 and 420a really have something in common! :)
Ok, after 2 hours of studying the MS I might have gotten a hold of this.We did the wirings according to this: http://www.symtechlabs.com/support/docs/420A_MS_Wiring_Guide.gifHere it shows to connect pins 31 and 36 to coil - to cylinders 1&4 and 2&3 respectively. And we should have...
I got it from a member - if I remember his nick correctly it was jesterscorpion. He sold it to me as MS-I Extra v2.2. My friend has the unit atm but I can ask him to take some pics of the circuit board and send them to me.But please remember: The car ran fine with the MS with exactly the same...
Ahh, I see.I referred to the MSnS wiring guide by MB that I linked in my original post. There the wiring is made this way using a 4g63 ignitor. I'm sorry I didn't emphasize this enough in the post itself, I thought it was the standard way to wire it. Continuity checks between this ignitor...
Grounding wire? Pin # 36 on the MS connector goes to cyl 2 & 3 ignition (or 1 & 4 ignition, not sure) and is not a grounding wire. (In fact it goes to the 4g63 ignitor unit and from there it goes to the coil.) I checked the grounding wire of the ignitor unit, it was ok too. And I don't believe...
A donor engine would be a good idea. It doesn't have to clear a compression test though - it's enought that the block is in good shape (=little scrapes don't harm as long as it can be machined) because you'll be changing the pistons, rings, rods, cams etc anyway. You can also consider the 2.4 as...
Batch fire? What is that? I didn't make the MS connections myself and I don't understand its life too much, sorry. Just watched and handed my friend pliers etc. :coy:Sorry, my mistake. This must be the way my friend wired them. I just remembered that the injectors are divided to 2 groups and...
That injector sticking open could be possible. Good point. We put in new spark plugs of course, but as I stated in my first post we tried swapping cyl #1 and #2 plugs with no effect, so a broken plug can't be the problem.
What do you mean with stage 3? 250whp, 300+whp? You need to be a bit more accurate to get more accurate results.Find a shop nearby that has a good reputation with DSMs (especially 420a-powered ones) and talk to them and ask for an offer. Maybe some local DSMer would be willing to help you and...
Ok, now we have a problem with our project '95 GS. I'll try to explain the situation as well as possible, so pardon me - this is going to be a long story.First we installed MSnS to the car (MS-I Extra v2.2). We did it according to MB's walkthrough except that we did the IAT & MAP vacuum line...
That motor is sure very high quality, but the price is high too. Read through 2gnt faq articles and then think about what you need and what your goals are.2GNT.com - POWER
If you have the head removed it should be easy. We changed the valve springs & retainers without taking the head off - my friend made a tool that could be used to compress the springs. Here is a solution that another one of my friends came up with:
Mitä olet tänään rassaillut?
You can always cut the muffler off and replace it with a "name brand" one. This will change your exhaust note quite a bit. A proper resonator or a hi-flow cat is good for killing that rasp. Magnaflow sells at least one for less than $100, and it's emission certified in 49 states (excl. california).
99% sure they won't fit, since Neon and Eclipse have nothing in common when it comes to suspension. In fact the DSM front suspension is identical with the European model of Galant (can't say anything about the US version but should be close). Maybe with some modifications though, but don't know...
I think this was your problem ROFLHead bolts not tight enough -> head gasket leak -> white smoke. If the valve guide seals seem bad change them too when you're at it, of course, but this is not what is causing the white smoke. This only causes a small oil leak.
Yes, they are better. They have a larger oil squirt hole on top. That price is a ripoff though. Just get these:2.0 2.4 DOHC Chrysler / Jeep Hydraulic Lash Adjuster Avenger, Breeze, Eclipse, Neon, Sebring, Stratus, Talon
Well, the rule of thumb goes:White smoke = coolant, usually head gasket problem
Blue smoke = burning oil, possibly piston rings or related
Black smoke = unburned gasoline, your car is running too richIt's not always as simple as this, of course, but leads you in a good direction. I'd advise...
At least RockAuto lists that the TS198 sensor is equivalent to both of these part numbers.STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # TS198Then again, TS198 and TSD198T seem to be two different products? Well, my local parts shop has the MD091056 equivalent on stock and they sell it for like 10...
Thanks! Searched with these part numbers a bit and found the cheapest alternative from ebay (Rockauto was ok but shipping charges were bit high). The Mitsubishi part number for this seems to be MD091056, by the way.I'll call my local parts shop on monday and try to find one there. If they...
The old one wire coolant temp sensor (the one that is there for the instrument cluster temp gauge) snapped while we were installing MSnS to my girlfriend's '95 GS so we need a new one. Where to get this and what is the part number? Can't reach my CAPS atm because I installed Win7 lately and it...
At this point your car is running rich as f*ck in the upper rpm range and that is a severe hp limiting factor. I'd go for MS, but if you dd this and want to stay in more basic stuff then a used SAFC-II from here/craigslist would be a good option. Nitrous is also fine.I woudn't recommend cams...
OK, I know these cam gears are known to have some problems with the timing marks not being accurate. That's ok, we used the stock gears to make our own timing marks. BUT:First we put in the stock gears and set the cams in right position. Then we locked the cam in place and swapped to OBXs...
Used Quaife or rebuilt OBX LSD will be installed in the future. We'll just see how the clutch can cope with the new setup first. It should have been replaced 3 years ago by the previous owner, but one can never be sure. If the clutch dies and must be replaced we'll then put in the LSD. Also...
Sounds like a good plan. I'd throw in an eBay header as well, mine cost $45+shipping and it does the job very well.
After these mods your car is going to run rather rich in higher rpm range, so a used SAFC/SAFC II ($150ish) might be a good buy to get your AFR fixed and to gain those extra...
Never heard of anyone doing this so I'd say no, and even if they did I'm quite sure it wouldn't be an upgrade. Valvetrain parts (lifters, rockers) can be swapped though. Also you can swap the 2.4 Cirrus block to your 420A using the original 420A head.
All right, let's introduce this build a bit for starters. I and my girlfriend are working on her 420A (the car used to be mine, sold it to her a couple of months ago). The car is a 95 GS that has 115kmiles on the clock. The goal is to make it a nicely drivable DD that still has something to...
Hello guys, tried to search but couldn't find a thread that would have been suitable for my problem.Where can I find a block heater that fits my 420a? I certainly need one, since the temperatures in my country can go below -30 degrees Celsius during winter. I have tried two resistor units...
IDK if this is really new information since at least in 2gnt there is a Miller Import Parts banner on the index site. :D Anyway, I can personally recommend Stephen for doing a GREAT job, and truthfully speaking... He deserves all the rep we can give to him. I've dealt with him twice, rather...
