how much hp can a 1g awd auto trans hold

I'm running a 3000 stall from Hughes and know a few guys that have had good luck with them.
  5. joe_mopar

    1g or 2g pistons....which are stronger???

I would suspect the top of the 2g piston is thicker than the 1g.
  6. joe_mopar

    300 awhp???

If the bottom is built right with stock parts, good oil pressure, and the tune is safe, I would say no problem.
  7. joe_mopar

    Can anyone identify these pistons?

That must be the marking .5 mm or .020" o/s

    Rubbing/scraping sound...

Maybe a belt rubbing on the timing belt cover. Hard to find one that doesn't have a hole rubbed in it.

    auto trans cam question

Normally automatic cams have less duration. They are designed to have a little more bottom end power band to help the torque convertor get the car moving. If you are running a higher stall speed torque convertor it moves up the rpm that the trans engages. This allows you to run a cam with more...

brake fluid leak between brake master and brake booster

That usually means the master cylinder is going bad. The piston is allowing fluid to go by. New master cylinders are almost as cheap as a rebuild kit, so I usually buy a new one.

Small chips in brand new Fluidampr

I think your are right, It shouldn't hurt anything.

    INJECTORS not fireing !!

If the TPS doesn't think the throttle is at zero percent open (completely closed) it will not let the injectors put out any fuel when trying to start the car.

    Winter problems?

Could be the inner fender liner rubbing or disc brake rotor shield. You didn't put big old ugly snow tires on it did you?

    pushing a ton of oil..

Without a vacuum source the pcv is not going to open enough to vent the blow-by. I'd replace it with a pipe nipple, then run it to the catch can.

Leaking oil, told to wait for a rebuild

Had similar problem on 2.0 sohc plymouth breeze (stratus). Found a bad rear main seal and a cracked flexplate. The main seal was missing the lip. Doesn't have a cap, just a one piece seal driven into block with the seal lip running on the od of crank flange. The leak filled the trans housing...

    I need torque specs!!!

I bought the dsm service manual on cd off ebay for about $15 shipped.

    Cranks,but No start after rebuild

If the injectors aren't firing, could be the throttle position sensor not seeing the throttle closed. If you don't want to check the injectors for voltage, just pull the sparkplugs and dump a 1/2 ounce of gas in each cylinder, put the plugs back in and see if it starts.

Nice looking car. Might want to flush out the old brake fluid and go to synthetic.

    Famous Alternator squeal /sigh

Try sand-blasting the pulleys. Worked for me.
  23. joe_mopar

shredded alternator belt ... no oil pressure. Please help! (pictures)

If you didn't lock-tite the crankshaft bolt ( I use the red stuff for this one), the timing gear will start to walk outward on the crankshaft snout and push the pulleys out of alignment, hence chewing up the belts. Had it happen to a 92 tsi.As the oil heats and thins, the oil pressure will...

Battery Drains and Car Dies While Driving

My friend at the alt./starter shop said it could be the ECU.

    Drag/Standing mile project

I saw you run at the dragging rights. Coasted the first 1/8 mile and got into it and ran 140 mph on the top end. Your rear diff. couldn't handle the hp at part throttle the next pass. Looks very sharp.

Resolved Need help finding a Crankshaft Bushing ASAP

Good deal. I bought one at the Mits. dealership and they sold me a manual trans. bushing. Didn't notice the id was smaller until I tried to put the torque convertor snout into it.

Swapped engine and now tranny wont go into drive (Auto)

Had the same thing happen on a 140k automatic trans that broke a trans fluid line. After refilling it with fluid, the trans acted like it was in 3rd and reverse at the same time. Pulled it out and one of the clutch packs was so wornout it was stuck. All the material was chewed off the disc...

    alternator belt squeals

I have sand blasted the pulleys and that cures the problem for a while, but also check for the belt tension and the belt rubbing on the timing cover.
